Chapter 140 - A Sudden Turn of Events — Bakugo Katsuki’s Attack

With that tap, countless new images appeared across the screen.

This time, every alternate dimension created by Kūgai was displayed.

Each dimension imprisoned different Pro Heroes, law enforcement officers, and ordinary civilians.

At the same time, aside from heroes, officers, and civilians, there was another group scattered throughout those dimensions—

the recently recruited subordinates under Shigaraki's command.

Originally, Shigaraki had intended to use these people to deal with the separated ordinary heroes and police officers.

But after hearing Kūgai's plan to "work All Might to death" using an endless stream of hostages, he immediately changed his mind and handed those subordinates over to him.

Kūgai then dispersed them across the various dimensions and ordered them to gather up the civilians trapped inside.

Afterward, they would rotate in batches and open portals at different positions to continuously deliver those "gifts" to All Might.

After all, throwing "gifts" at All Might from multiple locations required too much coordination.

Kūgai alone could not possibly handle it all.

Besides—

if a group of expendable cannon fodder could pin down the Symbol of Peace and continuously exhaust him until he collapsed, then why not use them?

They were merely disposable pawns.

If they died, more could always be recruited later.

Of course, there was another reason Shigaraki had ordered them to spread out and throw civilians down in batches instead of dumping everyone into one location.

It was safer.

Even if All Might suddenly exploded with power, shattered the spatial wall overhead, and rescued all the hostages in one area, they could still continue restraining him elsewhere.

The hostages were never gathered in the same place.

And by using this slow, boiling-the-frog method, they could avoid pushing All Might completely berserk.

Because as for a berserk All Might—

Shigaraki did not think he could handle him.

At least, not yet.

Unfortunately, although the plan itself was excellent, an unexpected variable had appeared—

that unknown teenager.

Sure enough, there was no such thing as a perfect plan.

Thinking this, Shigaraki quickly switched the screen to the dimension where the mysterious boy's voice had come from, as well as another area where an abnormal situation had broken out.

Then he was surprised to discover that he actually knew both troublemakers.

Not only that—

he knew them very well.

One was a spiky-haired boy with fierce eyes.

The other was a black-haired girl with a calm but determined expression.

At this moment, the spiky-haired boy wore a vicious grin like a feral little demon as he laughed wildly and fought several fodder villains using his Quirk.

Not far away, two or three additional villains had already collapsed on the ground.

The boy's fighting style clearly revolved around the explosions and heat continuously erupting from his palms.

Seeing this, Shigaraki instantly realized that the unknown voice and explosion sounds he had heard earlier belonged to him.

As for the black-haired girl, her movements were far less flashy.

Her attacks were simple.

Direct.

Old-fashioned.

She showed absolutely no intention of using a Quirk at all.

Every strike relied purely on physical ability and combat technique.

It was almost as though the enemies before her were not worthy of forcing her to use a Quirk.

Or perhaps—

she simply did not possess one.

Meanwhile, every time the girl knocked down an enemy, she immediately called on the surrounding civilians to help restrain the fallen villains.

The battles in both dimensions were completely one-sided.

Shigaraki's cannon fodder had no ability to resist.

And the two who had defeated his subordinates were none other than Bakugo Katsuki, whom Shigaraki had met during the Sludge Villain incident—

and his recently accepted disciple,

Akaya Kaiun.

Seeing that the people ruining his plans were these two, Shigaraki could not help rubbing his chin as his expression became strange.

Why had these two gotten dragged into this situation?

And why were they attacking his people?

Could protagonist law really exist?

Whenever villains caused trouble, protagonists would inevitably appear?

Even if Akaya Kaiun was already a discarded protagonist?

Still…

these useless bastards were way too weak.

They had the numerical advantage, yet they still lost?

How pathetic.

As expected of cannon fodder.

He really should not have expected too much from them.

That said, Shigaraki could also tell exactly why his recently recruited "fodder" had lost.

It was not entirely because they lacked battle experience or personal strength.

The main reason was that the spiky-haired brat's Quirk was simply too powerful and too suitable for chaotic battlefield situations.

As for the black-haired girl—

there was even less to say.

She never gave the fodder villains any opportunity to fight at range.

The instant battle began, she immediately closed the distance and forced them into close combat.

And her fighting skills were extremely refined.

Under those circumstances, unless their Quirks specialized in close-range combat, it was almost impossible for them to find an opening to activate their abilities while being overwhelmed by her relentless chains of attacks.

On top of that, the girl continuously rallied nearby civilians to help gang up on the defeated villains.

In that situation, it would have been stranger if the fodder villains had actually managed to win.

Just as Shigaraki was thinking this, the scene on the screens changed again.

Bakugo Katsuki and Akaya Kaiun quickly finished cleaning up the battlefield.

Then, almost simultaneously, both of them began interrogating the defeated villains.

They asked where the other Pro Heroes were.

They asked what the villains were planning.

And they asked where the leader of the villains—

Shigaraki himself—

was currently located.

Then something utterly speechless happened.

Those useless cannon fodder actually answered.

They even pointed out the locations of the disguised exits.

Fortunately, they did not expose Shigaraki's current location.

Not because they were loyal—

but because they genuinely had no idea where he was.

Seeing this, Shigaraki's face nearly darkened completely.

Still, he did not become truly angry.

After all, he had never expected much from these cannon fodder in the first place.

That was precisely why he had never revealed the important parts of the plan or his own location to them.

He had always worried they might sell him out after being captured.

And now, it seemed that concern had been absolutely justified.
