Kate sighed dramatically, tilting her head as if feigning disappointment. "That's not very nice, High Alpha. The moon goddess might be less than pleased to hear you refused that request."
My heart seems to stop for a moment as the realisation sinks in. My pulse quickens; I hadn't forgotten his cold gaze on me. I know very much that there's absolutely nothing I can do if Bruno leaves Liam entirely to my care. I won't abandon him though, but I also might not be capable enough to love him the way he deserves.
Bruno's eyes narrow, his patience wearing dangerously thin. "That's not my problem. It's hers, and now yours."
Kate raises an eyebrow. "Shouldn't my problems be your problems, dear Cousin?"
Bruno's response is clipped. "I suppose it's time to disown you."
