"She'd be dead in that position! If you want to save her, calm down and think with your head and not with your ass," Emily roared, her voice cracking as she parried a blow from one of Natalie's shadows. She was fighting her sister.
I carry Mila in my arms instead. She is one hell of a heavy load but I manage, begging my wolf to at least give a surge of strength.
To get through without a tag is suicide, but staying in here is a guaranteed execution.
"Hold on, Mila," I hiss through gritted teeth, my lungs burning as if I'd swallowed hot coals. "Don't you dare die on me now. You hear me? Don't you dare."
Then, we're almost running.
A part of me wants to look back at the source of the new bloodcurdling screams echoing through, but I know turning around won't make a difference. It'll only get me dead. I can't help them. How can I, when I can't even help myself right now?
