Chapter 9 - The Dream

The moment I reached my room, I felt the bed swallow me whole the moment I jumped onto the extremely soft fluff that came as a surprise; like the old polar bear gave me such luxury, it felt as if I was walking on a cloud. For the first time since I left the dungeon, I let myself finally relax by sinking into the cozy warmth of the sheets as I started to fall into a tranquil sleep, and like a broken record being played, I couldnt stop thinking about the interaction with the icy bear prince in the garden

When and where did he come from???

Was he watching me this whole time???

If that's the case, what a creep, but then again, what did he mean by I should let no other man touch me? I'm still really confused, just as maybe you are, and it's the way he spoke to Lukas that is what bothered me. Usually it doesn't, but tonight it is put on a pedestal. And maybe something would have happened if the prince didn't interrupt. I wonder why he did?

Could it be...?

that he

has feelings for me?

NO, NO,

i should brush those thoughts aside

He's the prince; I'm an accidental isekai human. who he thinks im a spy out to kill him This was a disaster at heart

Stupid heart!!!

Stop beating so fast; I swear it's just his face. Why am I thinking of him like this? That's all i could say for myself

Sleep came anyway after a long thought. And just like that, I was out cold. After calming my beating heart down, I almost felt the world shift around me, pausing time for me to open my eyes and wake up to a lucid state. I looked around the area; the sky reflected on glass as it showed a different image of me. I reached out to tap the glass, and that's when I heard a familiar voice. He was there, of course; he would—is there any place this stalker won't go? It was almost like fate had a very annoying sense of humor. or a cruel joke for putting this idiot on me.

The prince stood with his usual composed posture, hands folded behind him, but his face was less stone-cold and more… pleasant.

He watched me like someone who had been waiting for a particularly interesting book to open. "You sleep loudly," he said, which is a sentence I never expected delivered with that tone to make me feel both accused and oddly cared for.

"Am I sleeping in your room?" I threw back a snarky response at him.

"No, you aren't. But I almost wished you were."

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

"Forget it, human. It's none of your concern anymore, at least for now, and before you say anything with that quick smart mouth of yours, I can end you with just one snap, you know."

"Yeah, yeah, the usual. What's new? Better yet, mind telling me why and how you got in my dream"

"I can enter dreams," he added after a beat, as if that explained everything.

"CREEP,"

I blurted out with a disgusted look. I crossed my arms, feeling a bit of self-satisfaction with my bold confidence, but he only lifted one brow, and there was that flash of amusement across his subtle face that made my cheeks burn. "It's not an intrusion in the way you assume," he answered. "I monitor disturbances."

Oh, really?

like waiting for a damsel in distress for you to come and save her or watching your prey slowly so you can feast on them? I spoke in a calm manner, ignoring the stare he was boring in the back of my head.

Absolutely not!!! I'm not that kind of vampire. Unless you want me to eat you?

he said as he grabbed my chin and slowly tilted my head back. His voice was cold, but this time his words softened and lacked the cold rustiness in his pipes; it's as if he was almost teasing me.

And yet how unfair life is if I had the power to do what he could, execute on the spot how cruel...

The prince snapped his fingers, conjuring up two chairs out of thin air, and took a seat, not bothering to ask how I feel anyways. We both took a seat and stopped to talk about the little things, and in due time I got to know the prince a little better. Maybe he's not such a bad person, I thought, until he asked to "tell him about the relationship between me and Lukas."

IS THIS GUY SERIOUS ASKING ME THIS NOW OF ALL TIMES???

I clogged my thoughts, knowing full well he could read minds, and tried to not think about it while answering in a shy tone, "He's a really nice, simple guy; we haven't really discussed anything much to count as friends," I said, smiling without a care in the world

OU!!! OU!!!

"He's also kind, steady… kinda cute. I hope to know him better. I think we could be friends. i paused before saying

That's if he wants to be with a human.

I didn't stop to notice. The prince's expression changed instantly—faster than the speed of lightning bolts, folding into a calm sheet.

He leaned towards me before speaking in a harsh tone.

"Vampires and humans should not be friends," he said flatly, almost like reciting a rule out of a book. The words landed cold. on my face. I couldn't help but retort in an emotional response, "Why?"

I asked, because curiosity is my worst trait and I wasn't going to be bullied by mystery. He only narrowed his eyes. "Because alliances make things complicated,"

He answered and then, softer, "Because you do not belong here."

My voice trembled when I asked why he reacted so strongly. He passed another thin threat, quieter this time, an elegant warning: do not make trouble for him or for what he protects.

I opened my mouth to argue, and he stopped me with a motion so subtle I almost missed it—a shimmer, a ribbon of dark magic that zipped across my lips and sealed them closed. I tried to pull the zip open, scrabbling at the phantom seal, tugging and hissing in frustration, but no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge.

"Take it off!"

I demanded angrily through my mind. He watched with an unreadable expression. "It won't come off for three minutes," he said. "Three minutes is enough time for me to tell you this: I am taking you out tomorrow. Meet me downstairs at breakfast. Do not be late."

His words were a command wrapped in something that felt dangerously like an invitation. Before I could craft a proper retort or even curse him and demand he explain himself, he was already gone. What kind of sicko does this to a normal person? The dream folded. The glass world cracked like thin ice and before you knew it, I was back in my regular world with the zip gone.

THIS PRINCE IS SUCH A GOD DAMN !!!!

UGHHHH!!!!.
