Chapter 63 - Challenger

In fact, only a portion of Slytherin students were pure-bloods in the broad sense, and among this portion, very few had both parents from the Snake House.

Kate continued to speak on her own accord, looking aggrieved: "If everyone's parents were born from the same House, then I really envy you all."

"My mother was a Slytherin, but my father was a Gryffindor. It is because of them that I exist, so I yearn for both of their Houses."

"It's just that now, it seems that since I've entered here, I can't be on good terms with students from the House my father was once in, is that right?"

"And today I was humiliated by Malfoy in front of people from two Houses. Even if we argue before the professors, I have a defense. But you Seniors—"

Kate looked at the female Prefect pitifully: "Senior, do you think I betrayed Slytherin, or do you think that even if I'm bullied, I shouldn't fight back?"

That was a bit heavy, Junior.

The female Prefect panicked immediately. She had been propped up by the crowd of students and forced to represent them to pressure Kate.

But after Kate put it this way, she realized that the reason for their anger didn't seem quite legitimate.

Looking back, the students who were indignant about the so-called "betrayal" just a moment ago now had varying expressions.

"Senior Cooper," Kate actively tugged at her sleeve, acting innocent. "Are Senior's parents also Slytherin students?"

The female Prefect froze; only her father was from the Snake House, while her mother was from the Eagle House.

Even she was like this, let alone the many half-blood wizards in the Snake House.

Even the Head of the Snake House was a half-blood and secretly crushed on a certain Gryffindor student!

Seeing that the group of students who were aggressive just now were speechless, Kate knew they were only bluffed by her words for a moment. If she didn't run, someone would eventually react.

"Since everyone has finished asking what they wanted to ask, I'll go back to do my homework."

"Wait a minute!"

A tall boy walked out from the crowd: "No matter what, for attacking a student of this House, you must be punished!"

"Oh?" Kate turned sideways. "Is Senior preparing to punish me on behalf of the Head of House? Or are you the Head Boy?"

"Don't mention the Head of House to me. The magical world always relies on strength to speak. Shafiq, do you dare to accept a challenge and have a wizard's duel with me?"

Tsk, he even brought up a wizard's duel.

It seemed there really aren't many people in the Snake House who could be called friendly towards her.

Gaze quickly scanning the few people around him, Kate understood.

Who would believe that such an outrageous challenge wasn't stopped by anyone if it wasn't premeditated?

Because she had easily blocked Wilson's attack the day before yesterday, these people couldn't see through her strength, so they wanted to continue testing her?

"Senior, you must be fifteen or sixteen, right?" Kate asked with an innocent face. "I'm only twelve. Is it appropriate to bully the small like this?"

The opponent lifted his chin arrogantly: "Do you not dare?"

"Indeed, I don't quite dare." Kate didn't fall for his provocation at all and nodded honestly.

She was afraid she wouldn't control her Mana output well and would cripple him, and then her family would have to pay a sum of money.

That was Grandpa Rand's pension money, and her future living expenses!

However, her concerns sounded like fear and retreat to some people.

Faint sounds of ridicule came from her ears.

"How about this," Kate thought for a moment and said. "I can compete with you, but I decide the time and place. And if either side loses, they have to give the other one hundred Gold Galleons!"

She wanted to say one thousand originally, but looking at the guy's attire, he didn't look particularly rich.

"Good!" The tall boy nodded. "Who is your second?"

According to the tradition of wizard duels, both sides would have a second. If both sides were injured, the seconds would take over.

Kate raised an eyebrow: "Does Senior want to drag others into this too?"

The opponent's face stiffened slightly, and he could only drop it.

"Then let's settle it like this. Time is this Saturday night. Place is right here, conducted in secret. No matter the result, no one is allowed to spread it."

Lightly settling the time and place, Kate turned around gracefully, leaving behind those who wanted to watch the fun or test her.

She finally handled Malfoy, but now a duel agreement fell on her, and the opponent was a high-year strongman.

Truly troublesome.

Just pushing open the bedroom door, a soft and warm body lunged at her face.

Kate was startled, immediately hugging the person's slender waist, then kicking the door shut with her foot. Holding the little one in her arms, she walked all the way to the bedside.

"Did you hear everything outside just now?"

She tried to pull Hermione's arms wrapped around her neck, but couldn't move them. She pulled again, but the person hugged tighter like a koala.

She could only fall straight onto the bed holding this person, staring at the ceiling and asking helplessly.

"Mhm," Hermione responded with a muffled voice. "Kate, how could they bully you like this?"

If it weren't for the fact that rushing out rashly would cause trouble for Kate, she would have rushed out to help long ago.

"Does this count as bullying?" Kate asked in hindsight.

She didn't feel it; at most, she felt these pure-blood young wizards were intentionally testing her under the guidance of their parents.

There must be over a hundred students in Slytherin across seven years. The ones just now were less than twenty at most.

Sometimes, the silent ones are the majority.

Those seventy or eighty people were watching, waiting to see her subsequent performance before deciding their attitude towards her in the future.

From the moment she decided to enter the Snake House, Kate had already anticipated this day.

"Don't worry, he can't beat me." Kate chuckled lightly and rubbed Hermione's fluffy brown hair. "Aren't you coming down yet? Otherwise, there won't be time to write homework."

Hermione then remembered she was still clinging to Kate's bosom. She quickly climbed up and backed away a few steps, her small face flushing red, probably due to lack of oxygen.

"Right, homework. I almost forgot I came here to do homework..."

She muttered softly, quickly took her homework out of her bag, sat at the desk, and buried her head to write furiously.

That appearance made Kate, who was on the side, secretly startled.

As expected of a top student, she can calm down and write homework in any environment.

However...

She hesitantly looked at her spacious desk, then at Hermione who had already occupied more than half of it.

She curled her finger and gently knocked on the back of her hand.

"What's wrong?" The top student looked up blankly.

Kate pointed to the desk: "How about you... move a bit to the side?"

Hermione realized she had hogged the desk, blushed, and moved a large section to the side.

"I'll go back after finishing the homework," Kate heard her mutter softly.

"That's a matter of course. Staying out all night will get points deducted."

Kate nodded as if it were only natural, having absolutely no objection to this.
