Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Cyborg Tao Pai Pai

Let's turn back the clock to the previous match.

"Next up, in the Fourth Division: contestant Chiaotzu versus contestant Tao Pai Pai!"

With the referee's announcement, the contestant area—previously as noisy as a wet market—fell into sudden silence, as if someone had pressed a mute button.

All eyes, whether filled with curiosity, contempt, or fear, focused on the temporarily constructed reinforced concrete arena.

On one side of the ring, Chiaotzu floated in mid-air, looking exceptionally small.

His emerald-green Qing Dynasty–style jacket swayed slightly in the air currents.

His pale little face, marked with two circles of rouge, was tense. His usually wide and cute eyes were now filled with instinctive terror.

Cold sweat slid down his smooth forehead and dripped onto the floor, shattering on impact.

Standing opposite him was a figure that seemed to have crawled out from the depths of a nightmare.

Tao Pai Pai.

Once, he had been Chiaotzu's Junior Martial Uncle.

He had also been the number one assassin who struck terror into the hearts of the entire martial arts world.

But now, he no longer looked fully human.

Beneath his signature pink robe, there were no longer warm muscle lines, but cold alloy bones and intricate hydraulic transmission systems.

The left side of his face remained human, wearing the chilling, sinister smile of a well-maintained but evil middle-aged man.

The right side, however, was completely covered by a silver-gray metal faceplate.

A crimson cybernetic eye rotated silently within the sunken socket, emitting a faint "zzzt" sound.

Like a precision scanner, it dissected its prey into data.

"Hehehe..."

Tao Pai Pai let out a low laugh, a sound like coarse sandpaper grinding against rusted iron—piercing and hair-raising.

"Truly nostalgic… this scent of fear. The air is thick with the trembling of the weak, just like a fine aperitif."

"Kid, you're that old geezer Crane Hermit's disciple, aren't you? How unfortunate for you to run into me."

"You… You are…"

Chiaotzu's voice trembled. He could feel the Qi radiating from the man before him.

It wasn't human Qi, but something cold and deathly, filled with killing intent.

"Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that you're about to become a pile of scrap metal."

Tao Pai Pai slowly raised his fully mechanized left hand. The metal knuckles clicked sharply.

The surrounding audience and contestants began whispering uneasily.

"Hey, who's that cyborg? He looks brutal."

"You don't recognize him? That's Tao Pai Pai! He was supposedly killed by Goku a few years ago. How did he end up like this?"

"My god, that little guy looks pitiful. This isn't even a fight on the same level."

Below the ring, Tien Shinhan's three eyes stared intently at Tao Pai Pai, his pupils contracting violently.

That was killing intent—pure, absolute killing intent.

He gripped the guardrail tightly with both hands. The iron pipes gradually bent under his monstrous strength.

"Chiaotzu! Forfeit now! Something's wrong with that guy!!"

"Dodon Ray!!"

Chiaotzu could no longer endure the suffocating pressure.

His survival instinct forced him to strike first.

He extended his index finger, condensing all the Qi in his body at its tip.

A yellow beam of energy tore through the air and shot straight toward Tao Pai Pai's heart.

It was lightning fast, carrying Chiaotzu's determination.

Tao Pai Pai didn't even move his feet.

He casually raised his unmodified right hand and flicked his index finger.

"Ding!"

The crisp sound rang out like porcelain being struck.

The Dodon Ray, powerful enough to pierce rock, was deflected by a single finger.

The out-of-control beam blasted into the ceiling, sending down a shower of stone and dust and drawing gasps from the crowd.

"Too weak."

Tao Pai Pai shook his head, his cybernetic eye flashing mockingly.

"Has the Crane School fallen this low? That limp attack isn't even enough to tickle me. You call that a Qi blast? It's practically a child's water gun."

"Tien… Tien…" Chiaotzu retreated in terror.

He tried to use Telepathy to call his senior brother, but fear had thrown his mental energy into chaos.

Gritting his teeth, he thrust both palms forward.

"Telekinesis!!"

An invisible wave of psychic force wrapped around Tao Pai Pai, attempting to freeze him in place.

Chiaotzu's chest heaved violently. The strain was immense.

"Oh? Psychic powers?" Tao Pai Pai felt the binding force and grinned wider.

"Interesting. The old me might have found this troublesome. But now…"

Clack, clack, clack… vroom…

A grating metallic roar echoed from inside his body.

"Break… open!!"

With a violent wrench, his mechanical left arm exploded with terrifying power.

Chiaotzu's psychic hold shattered like a spiderweb.

Pfft!

The backlash made Chiaotzu spit out blood. His body swayed, and his vision blurred.

"The game is over."

Tao Pai Pai vanished from his original spot.

It wasn't the Afterimage Technique—just pure mechanical speed.

In the next instant, he appeared before Chiaotzu.

His cold mechanical palm clamped around Chiaotzu's slender throat.

"Urgh… ack…"

Chiaotzu's feet left the ground as he struggled desperately.

His small hands slapped weakly against the metal arm, producing hollow clangs. It was like an ant shaking a tree.

"Stop it!!!"

On the sidelines, Tien Shinhan's eyes nearly burst from their sockets, veins bulging.

Watching his closest companion suffer filled him with unbearable helpless rage.

He tried to rush the ring but was restrained by several staff members.

"The match isn't over! Interfering will get you disqualified!"

"To hell with disqualification! I'm going to kill him!!"

Tien Shinhan roared, his aura exploding and blasting two staff members backward.

Tao Pai Pai turned to look at him and smiled cruelly.

"Are you angry? In pain? That's right."

His voice echoed like a demon's whisper.

"When that brat named Goku blew me to smithereens, I was in just as much pain. I crawled through the ruins. To survive,

I cut open my own body and replaced it with these cold pieces of iron. Now I'll repay that pain a hundredfold."

The mechanical structure on his wrist transformed with a sharp "shing."

A High-Frequency Vibration Blade extended outward, its edge blurring from intense vibration and emitting a piercing hum.

"No!!!" Goku and Tien Shinhan shouted at the same time.

Too late.

"Goodbye, little toy."

The blade came down.

Blood blossomed under the pale lights like a mournful spider lily.

Chiaotzu screamed as his body was flung backward, crashing against the edge of the ring.

Blood instantly soaked his green jacket, staining the character for "Chiao" a deep crimson.

At the final moment, he had twisted his body with all his strength.

Otherwise, that strike would have split him in two.

The entire audience fell silent.

Only the drip-drop of blood hitting the floor could be heard.

Tao Pai Pai flicked blood from the blade and looked down at Chiaotzu, twitching in a pool of red.

"Tch. Not dead yet? Whatever. Trash like this isn't worth a finishing blow.

Tien Shinhan, I'll be waiting for you in the finals. I hope you can give me a little more pleasure in the slaughter."

With that, he placed his hands behind his back and walked off the ring with heavy mechanical strides, laughing as terrified and furious gazes followed him.

That laughter, like the cry of a night owl, cast a long shadow over everyone's heart.
