Being slapped four times in front of the entire arena hurt Tien Shinhan's pride more than any injury.
His four bodies merged back into one.
His face turned dark red, and the third eye on his forehead throbbed violently.
"Son… Go… Ku! You've completely infuriated me!"
Goku stood with his hands on his hips, blinking innocently.
"You were the one who split your power. That's not my fault, right?"
Down below, Krillin nearly choked laughing.
When did this monkey get so sharp with words?
On the stage, Tien Shinhan suddenly closed his eyes and thrust his hands upward.
"Since you're so fast… I'll make it so you can't see!"
"Solar Flare!!!"
Blinding white light exploded outward.
It was like a miniature sun detonating in the arena.
"Ah! My eyes!"
"I can't see!"
The audience screamed and covered their faces.
Even the announcer, wearing sunglasses, teared up and clung to a table leg.
At the center, Goku took the full blast.
"So bright!"
He shut his eyes and raised his arms to block.
"Now!"
Tien lunged forward, driving a knee into Goku's abdomen.
Thud!
The strike landed cleanly.
Goku doubled over, flying toward the edge of the ring.
"Volleyball Attack: Spike!"
Tien followed up mid-air, hammering his fists down onto Goku's back.
Boom!
Goku smashed into the stage, leaving a crater.
The white light faded.
Dust settled.
Goku lay motionless at the bottom of the pit.
Tien hovered above, panting but smiling in satisfaction.
"Did… did he win?" Yamcha whispered nervously.
Krillin yawned. "Not even close. Goku's Qi hasn't dropped."
Sure enough—
"Cough… that hurt." Goku climbed out of the crater, rubbing his stomach.
"That Solar Flare is amazing. I almost went blind."
"You're still standing?!" Tien's eyes widened.
Goku dusted himself off.
"I was careless. But the same move won't work twice."
"Then try again!"
"Solar Flare!"
Light erupted once more.
But this time—
Goku whipped out a pair of sunglasses and put them on instantly.
Master Roshi's sunglasses.
"Hehe. Came prepared."
The arena went silent.
Tien stood there glowing like a useless lightbulb.
His composure nearly shattered.
"Cheap tricks…"
He tore off his shirt.
"If technique fails… we settle this with power!"
His Qi surged violently.
Debris floated around him.
He didn't use the Tri-Beam yet.
Instead, he condensed his power into pure physical force.
The two collided again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Sonic booms rippled across the arena.
But gradually—
Tien was being pushed back.
Goku was getting faster.
Stronger.
Like an endless well.
"How is this possible…"
Each punch Tien landed felt like striking steel.
Each of Goku's punches rattled his organs.
"This is the result of training at the Lookout," Tien muttered bitterly.
"Not just that," Goku replied cheerfully.
"Mr. Popo made me run through lightning carrying a hundred-kilogram rock."
"Kami had me dodge bees blindfolded."
"Compared to that, your attacks are too straightforward."
"Too straightforward…" Humiliation burned inside Tien.
"Then how about this!"
His shoulder blades writhed.
Two additional arms sprouted from his back.
"Four Witches Technique!"
Four arms spun in a relentless assault.
"More arms, more openings," Goku sighed.
He stepped inside the attack.
Grabbed Tien's lower wrists.
"Up you go!"
With a roar, Goku spun Tien like a windmill and hurled him across the arena.
Tien barely stopped himself mid-air using Bukūjutsu.
He hovered, panting heavily.
His pride cracked.
"That bald guy… and now this Son Goku… What kind of monsters are in the Kame School this year?!"
Then Goku did something unexpected.
He began removing his wristbands.
Thud.
They hit the ground heavily, cracking the stone.
Then his boots.
Thud.
Then his undershirt.
Boom!
The arena shook.
The crowd froze.
"How heavy… are those?" the referee stammered.
"Not much," Goku said casually.
"Just a little over a hundred kilograms."
Tien's pupils shrank.
He had been fighting someone carrying over a hundred kilograms?
The worldview he built was collapsing.
Krillin smiled faintly.
"Now it's over."
Goku's aura shifted completely.
No longer restrained.
No longer hidden.
He leaped effortlessly, soaring high into the air.
"So light! I feel like I can fly to the moon!"
But Tien refused to surrender.
"So what if you removed them! I don't believe the gap is that big!"
He condensed nearly all his Qi.
"Neo Tri-Beam!!"
Hands forming a triangle, he fired.
A massive pillar of light shot skyward.
"Watch out!" Bulma screamed.
Goku didn't dodge.
He kicked off the air itself, diving into the beam.
"Kame… hame… ha!!!"
Blue energy exploded from his palms.
The two attacks collided.
Sizzle—
Energy shrieked violently.
Wind blasted through the arena.
Tien screamed as he poured everything into it.
But Goku, now fully unrestrained, was stronger.
"Haaaaaa!!"
The Kamehameha doubled in size.
It swallowed the Tri-Beam.
And crashed down.
Boom!!!
When the dust cleared, the stage was gone.
Only a massive crater remained.
Tien lay unconscious at the bottom, scorched but alive.
Goku stood lightly at the edge, barely scratched.
"The winner is Goku!!"
Cheers erupted.
Chiaotzu rushed onto the field.
"Tien! Are you okay?"
Tien opened his eyes weakly.
"I lost…"
Goku jumped down and extended his hand.
"You're really strong. Let's fight again next time!"
Tien stared at the offered hand.
Then accepted it.
"Next time… I'll win."
Though deep down, he knew the gap was vast.
Krillin walked over.
"Not bad, Goku."
Goku scratched his head sheepishly.
"I'm still no match for you, Krillin. If that punch earlier hit me, I'd be finished."
"At least you know that," Krillin said with a grin.
The finals were set.
Krillin versus Goku.
