Aiden's POV
I leaned against the doorframe, my jaw tight as I watched her walk in. That scent hit me—sharp and alien. My stomach turned. Fuck no. Not again.
"Where are you coming from?" I ground the words out, my voice raspy with the irritation I couldn't hide.
Alina didn't look at me. She busied herself with her bag, her hands shaking just enough to give her away. "I'm coming back from the bakery," she said, her voice light, but I caught the tremor in it. "You didn't tell me you were coming today."
"I messaged you. You didn't reply."
She shrugged, a casual movement that felt like a slap. "Oh, my phone must have died," she said, walking past me toward the stairs. "You came to see Leo, right?"
"Yes."
"Oh, okay. I'm going to go bathe. You can leave since you've seen him."
