Emily's POV
"Let go of me," I whispered, my voice sounding incredibly weak. My knees buckled beneath me. "Can't you see I am pregnant?" I added a wave of unnatural exhaustion washing over me, making me feel even weaker than normal.
"Stop resisting, Emily. It won't hurt," Ilya said, a cruel smirk playing on her lips as her dark energy wrapped tighter around me.
Panic clawed at my chest. What do I do now? How do I escape from this?
"Please, I am begging you, don't use me!" I sobbed, begging like my life depended on it—because it did. "I will do whatever you want me to do! I will bring whoever you want me to bring to carry out this experiment, just please don't use me!"
"Ilya, wait," Davon's voice cut through the room. He stepped forward, looking down at me. "Maybe it is a bad idea. I mean, she is pregnant, and I don't think I want anything to happen to her baby."
For a split second, a spark of pure hope flared in my chest. He's going to save me.
