Chapter 279 - Where the Reading Led

The direction resolved on the seventh day since the chamber.

He felt it the way he had felt the chamber's pull strengthen as he approached it, the Observer's vague directional sense sharpening into specificity, formless intuition becoming a clear bearing he no longer needed to second-guess. He adjusted his path without hesitation and the landscape around him began to change in response, the formations growing sparse again, the self-luminous ground losing some of its variation until it was close to uniform, a long approach toward something that wanted space cleared around it.

"This feels familiar," Lei Bao said.

"The chamber felt the same way," Lin Yi said. "The landscape thinning before something significant."

"Do you think it's another fragment?"

"I don't know. The Observer isn't reading the Emperor's signature yet. It might resolve as we get closer, the way the chamber's did."

He kept walking.
