Chapter 134 - A Powerhouse Alliance

Rewinding to the moment the Pokémon first entered the Haunted House—

Magic City University, Haunted House, North Gate.

After the twelve Pokémon entered, a wall abruptly materialized before them. Upon the wall were several small doors; some Pokémon simply bumped into them, and the doors swung open.

Seeing this, Magnemite prepared to follow suit, but Eevee immediately blocked its path. Waving her paws, Eevee began an "authoritative" deduction of the situation.

"Vee!"

These doors, without a doubt, are the first trial of the Haunted House. Each door leads to a different location... we cannot make a choice so carelessly.

"Vee?"

Great Detective Eevee was in the middle of enjoying her deduction when she suddenly realized Magnemite wasn't paying attention. It was looking elsewhere. Eevee puffed out her cheeks in dissatisfaction.

"Kuo-yi..."

Magnemite was troubled. During the time Eevee had been talking, all the other Pokémon had already left. In just a brief moment, they were the only two left in the entry hall... what were they supposed to do now?

"..." Eevee went silent.

Watching the swaying doors, Eevee stood frozen in the wind. These Pokémon are far too reckless; they left without even thinking.

"Vee!" Eevee shook her head in frustration.

She turned toward a door that hadn't been opened yet, deciding they would take that path. Having made her choice, she looked at Magnemite. She intended to have Magnemite accompany her; if the two of them stayed together, it wouldn't be as scary.

"Vee-vee-vee!!" Eevee once again began a "serious" analysis of the pros and cons for Magnemite.

A moment later, a dizzy Magnemite nodded. Eevee makes sense...

And so, the scene unfolded: Magnemite floated in front, while Eevee followed closely behind. After pushing open the door, the two Pokémon advanced with extreme caution.

Behind the door Eevee and Magnemite chose was a gloomy, empty room with three more doors. The room was styled like a study; old, yellowed books were scattered haphazardly across the floor, the desk, and the bed. On the desk sat a broken speaker, emitting a piercing, grating static.

Eevee stopped in her tracks, scanning the surroundings. Finally, her brow furrowed as she glared at the speaker. So noisy.

Magnemite didn't feel great either... The atmosphere gave it a very oppressive feeling. The broken speaker, in particular, seemed to be emitting a creepy wave, attempting to interfere with the emotions of any living being nearby.

Subconsciously, Magnemite turned toward the speaker... but its sudden movement terrified Eevee.

"Vee! Vee!"

Eevee scrambled in front of Magnemite, pushing the speaker aside before it could do anything. She hurriedly explained to Magnemite: Let it make noise if it wants to. We just need to leave quickly. Whatever you do, don't make it explode, or something big will happen.

"Kuo-yi!!" Magnemite once again felt this was logical and looked at Eevee with newfound respect.

Eevee let out a sigh of relief. Being the leader is exhausting...

She quickly led Magnemite into the next room, refusing to linger. As she walked, Eevee processed her thoughts.

Based on her experience with horror movies, there were only a few ways a haunted house could scare you. As long as you were mentally prepared before the scare happened, you could minimize the shock.

Eevee activated her instincts fully, attempting to use her Anticipation ability to detect incoming "attacks."

The most important thing is to watch out for Ghost-type Pokémon, not the cheap props, Eevee quickly realized. If she could detect the ghosts' movements before they touched them, they could turn the tables.

As they moved through the silent, enclosed environment, they passed a wardrobe. Creeeeak!

A prop corpse tumbled out. Its head snapped off the neck and rolled across the floor, its wig catching on the handle. Red paint splattered everywhere. Eevee swallowed hard. I'm not scared!

"Kuo-yi!!"

Eevee was holding it together, but Magnemite panicked. It instinctively wanted to release an electric shock—it was its first time seeing a "human corpse."

Eevee's expression froze. She realized that if they kept being led by the nose like this, they would eventually be terrified.

"Vee..."

Suddenly, a strand of hair fell near her, and Eevee's eyes lit up. She looked at the prop corpse, her expression becoming serious. Then she looked at Magnemite and smiled.

Finally, Eevee moved. Keeping one eye open and one eye squinted, she stepped forward and nervously poked the hollow head prop with her paw.

"Vee!"

Perfect. There was a hole at the neck. Given Magnemite's size, it could fit inside!

"Vee-vee-vee!!" Eevee beckoned to Magnemite.

Magnemite: "???"

"Vee?" Eevee questioned sharply.

"Kuo-yi..."

Magnemite felt its body go numb, but it couldn't refuse Eevee's request. Reluctantly, it squeezed itself into the hollow head prop.

A moment later, a human head was floating in the air. Two prop arms were attached beneath the head via Magnemite's psychokinesis.

Meanwhile, Eevee snatched the messy wig from the wardrobe handle. The tangled hair, stained with red paint, was draped over her body. Soon, a headless, long-haired Eevee monster was born.

Eevee let out a "je-je" chuckle, lowering her head with a sinister grin. Having acquired the props, she immediately got into character. She felt herself merging with the haunted house environment; all her tension vanished. Now, what Eevee wanted to do was leave this place "in broad daylight."

Eevee communicated with Magnemite: Next, we go on the offensive. We'll act as staff members to scare the other Pokémon!

Magnemite was bewildered. What kind of operation is this?

Little Dream was a Misdreavus who loved scaring people. She was an expert with Confuse Ray and could create simple illusions. She had been working at the Magic City University Haunted House for three years.

Recently, a steady stream of timid challengers had been coming through, making Little Dream very happy. Their fear was exceptionally rich, providing her with a feast every single time.

Today, Little Dream was at her station, waiting for the prey to take the bait. She had prepared a "drowning illusion" to greet the guests.

The door suddenly groaned. Hiding within a mirror, Misdreavus wore a creepy grin as she watched the newcomers through the reflection.

But one look, and Misdreavus jumped in fright.

A floating, bleeding human head accompanied by a tangled-haired monster walked in with a swagger, shamelessly scanning the room.

Misdreavus began to question her existence. Who are they? Where am I? What am I supposed to do now?

Before she could think it through, she noticed the floating head slowly turn toward her location... and then, the head's eyelids and the corners of its mouth slowly curled upward into a horrifying grin.

"Mis-dreavusssss!!!!!!"

Misdreavus's eyes went wide. Ghost! What on earth was happening? Who could explain this to her?
