Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 — The Submerged Move

ÉCLAT was six months old.

Six months — enough time for a young brand to flare into brilliance,

and enough time for the first tremors to ripple through a great empire.

No one expected that a small company founded by a woman barely in her twenties could generate such resonance. Collection after collection dominated search rankings. Vân Hải's media celebrated a "new Eastern design language." Foreign investors sought licensing and collaborative rights.

Dĩ Yến did not know that every surge of publicity had been quietly supported by an invisible hand.

And that same hand, today… had begun to loosen its hold.

Within the high-rise boardroom of Vũ Holdings, Vũ Ngạo Thiên sat before a vast LED display, his eyes fixed upon a trembling graph.

The market curve of one of Tống Group's satellite companies wavered.

Not collapsing.

Not fracturing.

Only a subtle vibration — slight enough that only the most perceptive would recognize the anomaly.

A single touch from him.

A lever applied without trace.

A submerged move.

Ngạo Thiên closed the analysis panel, gazing through the glass at Vân Hải veiled in ocean mist. His voice cut the silence, cool and measured.

"Enough.

Shake the layers — just enough for Tống Hành to turn his attention toward his daughter."

His aide inclined his head.

"Sir… would such movement significantly affect the market?"

A faint smile traced Ngạo Thiên's lips.

"No.

Merely a knock upon the door —

so that Tống Group begins to feel unease."

The tremors spread.

Not violently.

But sufficiently to trouble major stakeholders.

— A shipment of raw materials delayed.

— A financial report deviating by 0.2 percent.

— A minor project extended by ten days.

Errors light as feathers — yet to Tống Hành, a man long accustomed to examining the world through magnified lenses, the pattern was unmistakable.

He reviewed files throughout the night.

What he saw was not chaos, but rhythm.

Small disturbances recurring with deliberate consistency.

Like someone tapping upon a table from within darkness.

Insufficient to destroy.

Yet impossible to ignore.

He leaned back, exhaling slowly.

"Someone is testing me."

And then his eyes caught a line gleaming within the reports —

ÉCLAT: Growth Rate 279% After Six Months.

His gaze sharpened.

While the broader Tống network wavered, ÉCLAT stood not merely stable, but ascending.

It became, unmistakably, the singular point of light.

And thus, his focus began to shift.

Toward his daughter.

Inside ÉCLAT's design studio, Dĩ Yến adjusted sketches for the upcoming collection.

She knew nothing of the tremors unsettling Tống Group.

Nothing of the invisible calibrations shaping opportunity after opportunity.

She only felt herself advancing.

Sharper.

More assured.

More formidable.

What she did not know was that every triumph served Ngạo Thiên's deeper design — elevating her prominence precisely as Tống Group experienced instability.

Her phone vibrated.

An internal market alert flickered briefly across the screen:

"Tống Group Experiences Minor Disruption. Several Satellite Stocks Down 3%."

Her pulse quickened.

She dialed immediately.

"Father, what happened? Is someone attacking Tống Group?"

Tống Hành's voice remained steady, though distant.

"Unclear. Possibly technical irregularities. Do not worry. Focus on ÉCLAT."

She tightened her grip on the device, unease threading quietly through her chest.

Moments later, she contacted ÉCLAT's financial advisers, requesting immediate verification.

The response returned swiftly:

"ÉCLAT remains unaffected.

Strong growth.

No adverse impact detected."

Relief came — but not comfort.

Something hollow lingered.

Elsewhere within Vũ Holdings, Ngạo Thần studied the subtle fluctuations.

Recognition dawned instantly.

He understood whose hand lay behind the disturbance.

Without hesitation, he moved toward his brother's office, knocking lightly.

"…What are you doing to Tống Group?"

Ngạo Thiên did not turn.

"A test.

To observe how they respond."

Ngạo Thần's brow tightened.

"A test for what purpose?"

"To understand where an empire destabilizes.

Before one brings down an empire, one must learn where it wavers."

The words struck cold.

Ngạo Thần's voice hardened.

"And where does Dĩ Yến stand within this?"

A pause.

Brief.

Then Ngạo Thiên's gaze lowered to ÉCLAT's dossier.

"At the center."

Pain constricted Ngạo Thần's chest.

"You are using her as a piece?"

No answer came.

Silence itself became confession.

Ngạo Thần shook his head.

"She would be devastated if she ever learned this."

Ngạo Thiên's faint smile bore no mockery — only something darker, more distant.

"She will never know."

That final certainty sent a chill through the room.

Late that evening, Dĩ Yến remained alone within ÉCLAT's illuminated workspace, inspecting sample pieces.

The hum of sewing machines, the scent of leather and silk — this was the world she loved.

Yet unease persisted.

She called Ngạo Thiên.

"…Is Tống Group truly all right? It feels as though something unseen is moving."

His voice flowed through the line, calm and unyielding.

"No one would dare touch Tống Group."

"But—"

"Trust me.

No one can harm your family."

She fell silent.

His voice had always steadied her.

Yet tonight, beneath its reassurance, she sensed something obscured.

He continued, gently but firmly:

"Remember only this.

Your path is ÉCLAT.

Do not allow anything to distract you."

"…I understand."

"Rest early.

Tomorrow, I will visit ÉCLAT to review the new prototypes."

The call ended.

The machines resumed their quiet rhythm.

She faced her reflection in the mirror.

Within her eyes — pride.

But beneath it — disquiet.

"Who is unsettling my family…?" she whispered.

In his private chamber, Ngạo Thiên studied the strategic map.

His gaze settled upon a single line:

Phase Two: ÉCLAT — The Spearhead Into Tống Group.

This disturbance had merely been an opening signal.

Once Tống Hành perceived instability and recognized ÉCLAT as the sole unwavering point, his resources and attention would inevitably converge upon his daughter.

Preparation for Phase Three had begun.

Ngạo Thiên closed his eyes.

His breath carried the cold, metallic trace of emotions long fused beyond separation —

the scent of hatred,

and the scent of love distorted beyond recognition.

Message of Chapter 5

Within the marketplace, not all tremors exist to destroy.

Some exist only to signal.

When an empire wavers, attention inevitably shifts toward the lone point of stability.

And sometimes, that very point of light

is itself the most calculated move upon the board.
