Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 — Guilt & The Calm Before the Storm

The longest night of their lives did not end when they fell asleep.

It ended when 武傲天 stood alone in the dark… until dawn.

All night, he never stepped inside.

No knocking. No calling. No interference.

He only stood under the cold rain of 云海, outside the gates of 燕思安.

Later, he sat in the driver's seat, the window lowered halfway.

He wanted to hear.

To be sure.

To confirm.

To deny.

To believe.

Yet not daring to believe.

His eyes turned red—not from tears, but from holding them back.

His fingers gripped the steering wheel until they turned pale.

His palms were cold. Slightly trembling.

For the first time in his life… 武傲天 could not control his own heart.

Only one thought remained:

"This… is my fault."

Inside the warm bedroom of 燕思安, 宋以燕 opened her eyes.

Soft morning light filtered through the white curtains.

The silk blanket rested across her waist.

The air still carried traces of a night that had crossed every forbidden line.

She turned—startled.

He was gone.

Only emptiness remained.

A faint warmth… slowly fading.

And then—

A feeling rose within her.

Peace.

A kind of peace she had never known beside 武傲天.

No conflict.

No calculation.

No resistance.

No defense.

Just… being held.

No one demanded anything from her.

She stepped out of bed.

Her legs slightly weak. Her mind still in chaos.

Her heart… no longer felt like it belonged to her.

She walked downstairs.

On the dining table—

Her favorite breakfast.

Neatly arranged. Precise. Thoughtful.

Beside it, a glass of warm honey water.

Still steaming.

No note.

No message.

No explanation.

But there was something else.

The quiet tenderness of someone who had loved her for far too long.

She smiled.

A soft, unconscious smile.

Gentle.

Real.

And yet… it carried a sharp ache deep in her chest.

"Why… is peace here…?"

She asked herself.

And found no answer.

She stepped outside.

Morning light reflected off the rain-soaked stone ground.

武傲神 stood there.

Tall. Still.

Hands in his pockets.

As if trying to reclaim the last fragments of reason she had burned away the night before.

Mist clung to his hair.

The wind moved softly.

He did not turn.

And in that moment—

She felt something she had never once felt with 武傲天.

Real peace.

But also—

A blade of guilt, sinking deep into her heart.

She walked closer.

Her voice soft. Almost breaking:

"Thank you…"

He turned.

His eyes—warm.

So warm… it made her want to cry.

"Was breakfast… good?"

She nodded.

Unable to speak.

Tears fell before she even realized she was crying.

He lifted his hand.

His fingers gently brushed her cheek.

Then he pulled her softly into his arms.

That gentleness… destroyed her.

Outside the gate—

武傲天 saw everything.

He saw 武傲神's hand touch her face.

Saw him hold her.

Saw their eyes meet.

Saw her softness.

Saw her tear-stained smile.

And for the first time in his life—

His chest tightened.

Not from hatred.

Not from revenge.

Not from strategy.

But because—

He lost her… before he ever truly allowed himself to love her.

His grip crushed the steering wheel, joints cracking faintly.

His eyes burned red.

His breathing uneven, barely controlled.

"以燕… are you really… no longer mine…?"

武傲神 looked at her.

In his eyes—everything collided:

Love.

Pain.

Guilt.

Helplessness.

And yet… still wanting to protect her.

"以燕… I'm sorry."

She shook her head.

"Don't apologize."

He took a slow breath.

As if silently signing the sentence of his own life.

He did not say it out loud—

But something inside him had already decided:

He would no longer stand outside.

His hand moved to her hair.

A familiar gesture.

From when they were younger.

Before she became his brother's wife.

Before the weight of fate crushed them both.

In that moment—

He was no longer the composed heir.

No longer the cold strategist.

Just—

A man who had loved the wrong woman… at the wrong time…

For twenty years.

Message of Chapter 31:

The most beautiful peace always appears right before everything collapses.

This… was the last day they would ever know calm.

From tomorrow onward—

all three of them would be dragged into a storm of guilt…

with no way back.
