Chapter 78 - Fusion and fallout

CHAPTER 79 – FUSION AND FALLOUT

The fluid swirled around him, warm, dense, impossibly heavy.

Leylin felt every part of his body react. Not pain yet. Something sharper. Every nerve woke at once. Every cell trembled with awareness.

Then the formations activated.

The instant his body entered the pod, the engraved formations across the chamber flared. Power rushed through the lines carved into the floor, the walls, the pod itself. The pressure around him tightened violently.

Leylin tried to move.

He couldn't.

The formations locked onto him like chains.

The liquid surged upward.

Crimson-gold fluid slammed into his body, coating his skin, forcing itself against him with brutal force. It was not probing. It was taking.

Leylin felt it immediately.

Extraction.

His essence stretched as the fluid tried to rip it from him. Invisible threads pulled from deep inside his body, trying to tear free.

Leylin's jaw tightened.

He resisted.

Not with brute force. With control.

His will locked down every fragment of his essence, forcing it to remain intact even as the formation pulled harder.

The pressure increased.

The fluid churned violently around him, smashing against his body again and again. Every collision tried to break his control.

Leylin held it.

His breathing slowed as he focused his attention on the viscous liquid pressing against his skin.

But as if sensing his futile resistance, the formation pulled harder.

This time, more violently.

Just as it seemed his control was about to give way, a familiar blue light flashed across his pupils.

[Strange foreign essence detected.]

[Formation integration detected.]

[Host essence extraction in progress.]

[Unknown consequences may manifest.]

The messages appeared instantly, one after another.

The fluid surged again.

Leylin's control slipped for half a second.

That was enough.

The formation seized the opportunity.

Essence tore from his skin like threads pulled from fabric. The crimson fluid dragged it away toward the center of the pod.

Leylin exhaled slowly.

He could keep resisting.

But that was never the plan.

Another system line appeared.

[Host authorization required.]

The formation pulled again, harder than before. This time it felt like his body was being torn apart from the inside.

Leylin's gaze darkened.

Everything had been calculated.

The pod.

The fetus.

The cores.

Even the formations.

Every variable had been considered.

But calculation meant nothing without commitment.

He spoke.

"Proceed."

The reaction was immediate.

The formation no longer met resistance.

Its suction force increased severalfold as the true absorption began.

Pain detonated through his body.

His skin collapsed first.

There was no tearing. No blood. It simply dissolved. Flesh melted into the violent currents of crimson-gold liquid swirling around him. Every nerve fired at once as sensation overwhelmed his mind.

His muscles followed.

Layer after layer broke down, dissolving into strands of energy that were immediately dragged away by the formation.

Leylin clenched his teeth.

His bones cracked.

For a moment they resisted. Then the structure of his skeleton softened and collapsed, dissolving into the liquid.

The pain was absolute.

His organs failed next.

Heart. Lungs. Veins.

Everything unraveled and dissolved into energy that streamed through the tubes surrounding the pod.

Leylin forced his mind to remain steady.

His brain was the last thing holding him together.

His vision fractured.

Thoughts scattered.

Memories flashed like broken reflections across his mind.

Then the brain dissolved.

Leylin did not disappear.

His consciousness spread.

He felt himself dissolve into the crimson currents flowing through the formation. His awareness stretched through the liquid, through the tubes, through the streams of power feeding the central chamber of the pod.

And there he felt it.

The fetus.

Small.

Suspended within the crimson liquid.

The moment Leylin's dissolved essence reached it, the child twitched.

Energy erupted through the chamber.

The sin cores ignited.

Greed.

Envy.

Gluttony.

Sloth.

Lust.

Each core released a violent surge of power. Their energy flooded the formation and rushed through the tubes, merging with Leylin's essence as everything poured into the forming child.

The system responded immediately.

[Host essence unstable.]

[Critical integration threshold exceeded.]

[System stabilization required.]

[Unknown effect detected.]

Leylin's consciousness wrapped around the forming body instinctively, stabilizing the structure as power continued to flood into it.

The fetus twitched again.

The crimson liquid churned violently around it as the energies attempted to merge.

The formation lines across the chamber glowed brighter, struggling to maintain balance.

Then something changed.

Deep within the chamber.

Far beneath the formation network.

The dark pond stirred.

Leylin felt it instantly.

His consciousness froze.

At the center of the pond, the black coffin trembled.

Once.

Then again.

Very slightly.

But enough.

The inscriptions carved across its surface began to glow.

Thin lines of power crawled slowly across the coffin's lid like veins awakening after centuries of stillness.

Leylin felt the shift immediately.

That…

was not part of the plan.

The system reacted.

[Unknown signature detected.]

The glow across the coffin intensified.

Energy began to gather within the inscriptions.

The chamber grew colder.

Then the system spoke again.

[Warning.]

[Foreign entity attempting integration.]

The coffin trembled once more.

And the inscriptions began to move.
