Meanwhile, at Moon Corporation, Michael grew tired of the never-ending stack of documents on his desk. He twirled a pen absentmindedly, his eyes glazing over as he lost interest in the signatures and approvals before him. His fingers slid to his phone, and soon he was absorbed in a game, the sounds of virtual explosions and chimes filling the room.
The door opened, and Robert stepped in, a file clutched tightly in his hand. 'Sir Michael, you have dinner with the CEO of Mars Corporation today at 6 PM,' he announced.
Michael didn't bother to look up. 'That's not necessary. Tell him to send in his proposal," he muttered, eyes glued to his phone.
Robert hesitated. 'The board meeting is scheduled to commence at 12 PM.'
'Felix will handle it,' Michael dismissed the meeting without a second thought.
Robert shifted on his feet, then casually mentioned, 'Chioma Chima's mother sells fruits in the market.'
Michael's head snapped up. 'Really? Which market?'
Robert raised a cautioning hand. 'But, you might not want to buy fruits from her.'
Michael's brow furrowed. 'What nonsense are you spouting? I think she sells the best fruits.'
As Robert opened his mouth to explain, he noticed Michael's attention drift back to his phone. Frustration simmered in Robert's eyes as he realised Michael was engrossed in his game again, thumbs dancing over the screen.
Thisgirl,ChiomaChima, hadreceivedtheblessingofagoodfortune, Robert thought, as he turned to leave the office.
Michael abruptly stood, his gaze intense. 'We're going to Chioma Chima. She's at Star Restaurant. We're going there.'
Robert blinked, taken aback. 'But—'
'No buts,' Michael interrupted, his voice cold and firm. 'We go, or you're fired.' He grabbed his coat and strode towards the door, leaving no room for argument.
Robert stood frozen for a moment, then hurried after him. Outside, Michael slipped into his black Maybach and sped off without a backward glance.
Left standing in the parking lot, Robert felt a pang of confusion and worry. Could it be that Michael had just fired him? Had he arrived a little too late? His mind raced as he tried to process the abrupt turn of events.
While driving, Michael couldn't help but wonder how Chioma would react upon seeing him. Would she be angry? He couldn't bear to wait a week, as she had requested. He longed to hear her answer and couldn't resist the desire to see her. This was the first time he had ever felt such intense love for a woman, wanting to spend every second of his life with her. However, fear gnawed at him, worried that she might be upset.
Still overwhelmed by his thoughts, Michael abruptly pulled the car over and parked it under a tree by the roadside. He dialled Robert's number urgently, instructing him, 'Robert, hurry to any florist shop and buy 99 roses... also a box of chocolates.'
