Chapter 57 - Chapter Fifty-Seven

Robert hurriedly purchased the afternoon tea from Galaxy Coffee Shop and made his way to Star Restaurant. Spotting Chioma at the entrance, engrossed in a phone call, he approached her. Chioma ended the call upon sensing his presence and turned to face him, offering a smile. Robert reciprocated with a polite smile before handing over the bag to Chioma.

'Here, Sir Michael asked me to bring you afternoon tea,' he informed her.

Chioma's gaze fell on the logo of the expensive coffee shop emblazoned on the bag. A wave of conflicting emotions washed over her—surprise, appreciation, and a hint of unease. She stammered, unable to meet Robert's gaze.

'Is he still stuck in that meeting?' Chioma finally managed to ask, her voice barely a whisper, betraying a longing to see Michael.

Robert's lips curled into a smirk, devoid of warmth. 'Dying to see him, are you?' he replied, his tone laced with a subtle challenge.

Chioma's cheeks flushed a delicate pink. 'I just... needed to talk to him,' she admitted, her voice barely audible.

'Well, you can tell me what you wanted to say. It's not as if my life depends on it,' Robert responded casually, displaying a lack of concern. Chioma was annoyed by his indifference and felt the urge to scold him as if he were a child.

She didn't want to argue, so she just said, 'I should go back inside.'

'Okay, kiddo. Go back inside with your afternoon tea, and don't forget to share with your friend, Chisom, or else I might think you're selfish and greedy. Love is about sharing,' he remarked before turning away and heading towards his car.

Chioma stood there for a moment, contemplating whether to enjoy the afternoon tea or not. Eventually, she pushed the restaurant door open and made her way inside, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within her.

'Hey girl, what's with the fancy tea?' Chisom exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise as Chioma entered. She snatched the bag playfully, peering inside at the delectable treats.

Chioma sank into the chair opposite Chisom, her voice barely a whisper as she revealed, 'Michael sent it.'

Chisom's jaw dropped. 'Michael? He came here?'

Chioma shook her head slowly. 'No, his assistant brought it.'

Chisom's eyes sparkled with excitement. 'Wow, these look amazing! He even got your favourites. Come on, let's dig in!' she urged, already reaching for a pastry.

Chioma let out a shaky breath, a mix of confusion and curiosity swirling within her. As she took a bite of the pastry, she couldn't help but wonder what Michael's intentions were and what this unexpected gesture meant for their relationship. With a sigh, she joined Chisom, who had already started indulging in the delectable treats.'
