Chapter 124 - Targeted Narrative

The drive to St Aureline Hospital took twenty-three minutes; it felt much longer. Rain continued falling across the city in uneven sheets while traffic lights reflected against the windscreen in blurred streaks of red and gold. Lucien drove himself instead of using security transport, which told Seraphina how serious he considered the situation.

He rarely abandoned protocol; tonight he did it without hesitation. Seraphina sat quietly in the passenger seat, staring out the window while her thoughts moved too fast to settle properly. The article, the archive breach, the mention of the Aurelian Group, and the references to events that never happened in this timeline – nothing felt random anymore, which frightened her more than open attacks would have.

Lucien glanced toward her briefly before returning his attention to the road. "You are too quiet."

Seraphina folded her arms tighter against herself. "I am thinking."

"You have been doing that nonstop for days." He said.
