_______________

Senya Hotaru naturally did not change her surname to Uchiha. Like other major clans in the ninja world, the Uchiha possessed an inexplicable pride regarding their name. It was impossible for them to casually bestow it upon an outsider unless that person married into the clan.

For the past few days, Xuan had been quietly recovering in his room, attended to entirely by Hotaru. The little girl was surprisingly diligent; whatever Xuan ordered, she would do her utmost to complete perfectly.

Visitors came in an endless stream to check on him. Many were people he had absolutely no interaction with before, including several clan Jōnin. They would pull up a chair, make small talk, and claim they had "long seen that Xuan was a supreme genius," praising him for his great service to the clan and encouraging him to keep working hard. It annoyed Xuan to no end.

Izuna's arrival, however, was both surprising and expected.

The two didn't say much. Izuna mostly spoke about Madara's condition. Although he didn't say it explicitly, Xuan knew that there was an eighty percent chance Izuna wouldn't be antagonizing him anymore.

During their chat, the topic of casualties came up. Izuna's expression darkened. Out of the eighty-seven Genin children, forty had died. Aside from Xuan and Izuna, every single one of Madara's other brothers had been killed.

Tajima had returned. Upon receiving news of the raid on the compound, he had abandoned the frontlines and rushed back with his forces. The three-way war that had lasted for two years finally came to a temporary halt. Every clan had suffered heavy losses, but the Uchiha had taken the brunt of the damage. It was effectively a defeat.

The Third Elder was fiercely reprimanded and stripped of his status as an Elder, demoted to a regular Jōnin to atone for his crimes through service.

Finally, as Izuna left, he dropped a parting line: "I will catch up to you and Big Brother."

Xuan simply smiled at that. Kid's living in a dream.

"Hotaru."

"What are your orders, Lord Xuan?"

"I'm tired. Turn away all future visitors. Just say I need peace and quiet to recover."

"Yes, my Lord."

Finally earning some peace, Xuan let out a long breath. Don't they know I'm still a wounded patient? Where am I supposed to find the energy to listen to their nonsense?

Once things quieted down, Xuan liked to think. Until he had absolute power, analyzing the situation was always beneficial.

If I'm not wrong, this sneak attack must have happened in the original canon as well. And in that timeline, aside from Izuna, all of Madara's brothers—including me—must have died. In fact, probably even more people died.

When reading the original manga, Xuan had always harbored a doubt. In the Warring States period, the Uchiha and Senju were hailed as the two strongest clans in the world, equal in power, fighting each other for centuries.

So why was it that by the time Madara took over as Clan Head, the Uchiha were gradually suppressed by the Senju, eventually leading to their total defeat?

No matter how nicely history painted it—putting aside past grievances for world peace to build Konoha together—it couldn't change the fact that the Uchiha lost in the original story. The Senju proposed the alliance from the position of the victor, which was why the Uchiha's status in Konoha was always below the Senju's.

It wasn't that the Uchiha didn't fight; they simply couldn't win.

Originally, Xuan thought it was because Senju Hashirama was just too overpowered. But looking at it now, that wasn't the case. Sure, Hashirama was the God of Shinobi and Ashura's reincarnate, but Madara was no slouch either. In the canon, every time they fought, it was a stalemate that lasted all day.

If the high-end combat power was equal, then the most likely cause was a deficiency in the middle-tier forces.

If Xuan's guess was right, in the original timeline, this specific raid by the Hyuga wiped out the majority of Madara's generation. This created a massive generational gap in their forces. By the time Madara became Clan Head, the Uchiha simply lacked the manpower to match the Senju, leading to their overall disadvantage. It was no wonder they lost.

Calculating it like that... because I existed this time, I actually helped the Uchiha preserve the living strength of the new generation. And all I got was a little maid? Isn't that a bit stingy?

Xuan's mind wandered aimlessly. Since he couldn't move, this was the only way to kill time.

Right. I killed a Jōnin and completed a quest. I should have a ton of points. I need to check that immediately.

Opening the System interface, a dazzling array of exchangeable items floated before his eyes. He glanced at the Rinnegan, which cost 1,000,000 Points, swallowed his saliva, and could only stare in envy.

With a thought, he scrolled down. Seeing his balance of 10,000 Points, he felt a surge of pride. I've finally escaped the poverty line.

10,000 Points was enough to exchange for an S-Rank Jutsu. Looking at the legendary techniques listed before him, his eyes burned with desire.

Sage Art: Fire Style - Goemon (Rank: S, Cost: 10,000)

Wind Style: Rasenshuriken (Rank: S, Cost: 10,000)

Sage Art: Massive Rasenshuriken (Rank: S, Cost: 10,000)

Summoning: Quintuple Rashomon (Rank: S, Cost: 10,000)

Lightning Blade (Raikiri) (Rank: S, Cost: 10,000)

Creation Rebirth, Strength of a Hundred Technique, One's Own Life Reincarnation, White Secret Technique: The Chikamatsu Collection of Ten Puppets, Yin Seal, Four Symbols Seal, Eight Trigrams Sealing Style, Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique, Demonic Illusion: Mirror Heaven and Earth Change...

S-Rank Jutsu flashed past his eyes one by one, making Xuan drool with envy. Unfortunately, his points were only enough for one. This was the hardest part.

After thinking for a while, a specific Jutsu came to mind. He silently thought, System, exchange for Amaterasu.

Amaterasu was a Mangekyō Sharingan Dōjutsu, classified as an S-Rank Fire Style in the original work. Only Itachi and Sasuke could use it.

By Xuan's estimation, even if he opened the Mangekyō later, the chances of his ability being Amaterasu were slim. It was better to buy it now. The thought of unleashing unquenchable black flames with just a three-tomoe Sharingan was thrilling.

[Amaterasu. Rank: S. Cost: 10,000 Points. Exchange failed. Host must first possess the Mangekyō Sharingan.]

This trash System...

[However, since the Host possesses a Three-Tomoe Sharingan, forced exchange is possible for an additional 5,000 Points. Insufficient Points. Exchange failed.]

...Not only is it trash, it's a rip-off artist, Xuan cursed inwardly. But at least he learned something: Mangekyō abilities could be bought for an extra 5,000 points. That was valuable intel.

By that logic, I can't exchange for the Rasenshuriken either, because I don't have the Wind Nature affinity...

Xuan only had a single affinity: Fire. He couldn't cultivate Jutsu of other natures. He browsed the System again—purchasing a new elemental affinity cost 2,000 Points. Sage Mode cost a whopping 50,000 Points.

Xuan had thought he was rich, but looking at it now, he was still just a broke pauper.

Forget it. Stop dreaming. I need to pick an S-Rank Jutsu I can actually use. I have the Rasengan for offense, which is powerful enough, but it's hard to hit opponents who are faster than me. I need a Jutsu that covers that weakness.

He pondered continuously until his eyes suddenly lit up. He thought of a technique—the golden partner to the Rasengan in the original story. In fact, one could argue the Rasengan was created specifically to complement this Jutsu.

System, exchange for the Flying Thunder God Jutsu (Hiraishin)! Xuan thought with excitement. Please let this be available.

[Flying Thunder God Jutsu. Rank: S. Cost: 10,000 Points!]

The System's flat voice responded, and a warm current flooded Xuan's body. His 10,000 Points instantly dropped to 0.

Xuan felt no heartache at the cost; he was overjoyed. He finally had a true, ultimate trump card.

With the combination of the Flying Thunder God and the Rasengan, he could already picture the scene of "The Flash of Xuan" echoing throughout the Warring States period.
