Daniel noticed the car too.
"That's him," he said.
Before I could stop him, he rushed outside.
"Daniel wait!" I shouted.
But he was already running.
The car engine roared.
Then sped away.
Daniel jumped into his own car and followed.
Within seconds they disappeared down the road.
Silence returned.
Heavy silence.
Amara looked worried.
"That's a bad idea."
I nodded slowly.
Because chasing someone desperate rarely ends well.
Minutes passed.
Then twenty.
Then forty.
Still nothing.
My phone rang suddenly.
Unknown number again.
My hands trembled as I answered.
But instead of Victor's voice…
I heard Daniel shouting.
And the sound of crashing metal.
