Chapter 85 - OPHK: Chapter 85

"Byrnblus!"

This island was the agreed-upon meeting place for Grimm and Vegapunk. Although Grimm knew that Sea Prism Stone was still in the research and development phase, it would take several more years to create Sea Prism Stone weapons.

From the time of Roger's arrest, the handcuffs placed on him were made of wood and iron, not the sturdiest Sea Prism Stone handcuffs. This indicated that Sea Prism Stone handcuffs alone had not been invented by the time Roger died, let alone Sea Prism Stone bullets.

Even if his intervention could expedite their development, it would still take a few years.

However, Grimm still wanted to find Byrnblus quickly.

After searching for more than half a year, in the autumn of 1495, Jiana confidently informed Grimm that they had reached the waters near Byrnblus.

Plank had lost the map drawn by Vegapunk!

Therefore, their ability to find this place was all thanks to one person—an undercover agent. Grimm had planted a super, incredibly powerful undercover agent in the Navy, one that even Grimm himself felt fear, hesitation, and powerlessness against.

That's right, it was Grandpa Luke, who had been "hammered" by Grimm every day, with big hammers once a week.

This was the only subordinate Grimm had managed to summon in the past six months.

Half a year ago, after accumulating 5,000 Holy Light Points, Grimm chose to summon a partner and selected "Shipwright."

Then, the system informed Grimm that Grandpa Luke was a shipwright.

What a shipwright!

When Luke arrived in this world, his body was very weak. Even so, his strength level was that of a Rear Admiral. However, his mind was still intact, allowing him to conduct scientific research and inventions.

There was only one way for Luke to gain strength: produce 1 million Holy Light Points, and Grimm would obtain the peak subordinate—Luke in his Silent City form!

Originally, Grimm wanted to keep Grandpa on the ship. However, Luke directly suggested that he wanted to join the Navy and travel around, which was not conducive to his scientific research on this world.

Moreover, his current research results were of no use to Grimm!

If he were placed in the Navy, once the time was ripe and he gained the Navy's trust, everything would be different.

Ultimately, Grimm could only place him on the nearest island.

As for how Luke joined the Navy, it all started on a sunny morning half a year ago.

On that day, Vice Admiral Garp was searching for Roger in the New World.

"Vice Admiral Garp, a pirate with a bounty of 530 million Beli, Blood Blade—Ronald's ship is heading straight for us!"

Sakazuki said, standing on the ship's railing, his body erupting with magma. "I'll go and annihilate them all!"

"Huh? What!" Garp was stunned. "Did he attack us? Don't be so impulsive, Sakazuki boy. Do you want to taste my Loving Iron Fist?"

"Pirates deserve to die, Vice Admiral Garp, don't stop me!" Sakazuki said, "Pirates deserve to die!"

Just as Sakazuki was about to go berserk, the voice of a Navy navigator suddenly came.

"They're lowering their pirate flag!" the navigator said in disbelief.

Sakazuki then restrained his murderous aura, a sense of curiosity rising in his heart.

Even Garp was bewildered. He had been in the Navy for decades and encountered countless pirate crews. This was the first time he had seen a pirate crew lower its flag.

If it were in the Four Seas, it might be understandable; perhaps they were attacked by a pirate hunter and lowered their flag temporarily to avoid friendly fire.

But this was the New World. Where would they find a pirate hunter? Moreover, this was a pirate with a bounty of over 500 million. Unless they encountered a super great pirate, even facing the Navy, they would still have a chance to escape.

Lowering the flag was a truly incomprehensible action!

So, Garp ordered his men to approach the pirate ship immediately.

As the two ships drew closer.

"Yo-ho, greetings to all you Navy soldiers!" a very old and comical voice came from the ship. Then, a short, hunched-over old man with two thick and two thin arms, carrying a large pile of tools on his back and wearing strange glasses, stood on the deck of the pirate ship. Behind him stood two completely black, over eight-meter-long steel dragons!

As for the pirates, they were already dead. Especially Ronald, the one with the 500 million bounty, had been burned to a crisp. If not for the red longsword clutched in the charred corpse's hand, he would have been unrecognizable.

"Yikes! I didn't expect it to be Navy Vice Admiral Garp and Vice Admiral Sakazuki. I've heard so much about you!" Luke said, casually waving his hand. The dragon behind him began to transform, like a Transformer, into a palm-sized piece of iron.

"What is that?" Sakazuki was startled. An eight-meter-long dragon had just disappeared. If it were a Devil Fruit ability, it didn't seem like it.

"Don't be nervous, righteous little Navy soldier. This is my pet, Steel Will—Nemeget, and also my research achievement!"

"Old man, who are you? Why are you on a pirate ship! Did you kill those pirates?" Garp asked while eating a donut.

Luke smiled and scratched his head with a large arm. "No, no, Vice Admiral, you misunderstand. I didn't kill them; Nemeget did. I'm a scientist, and I've been conducting experiments recently. But I lacked funds, so I've been temporarily acting as a pirate hunter. And these pirates are perfect for testing the strength of my new experimental subject, Nemeget!"

"Scientist?! That makes sense. Your appearance does remind me of another madman!" Garp laughed heartily, realizing why he felt the pet was so special and why the tone of his speech was similar to that madman from the science department!

"Since we've encountered the Navy, it's really good luck! How about you just give me the bounty money directly so I can go back to my research!" Luke continued!

"Uh… well, I'm really sorry, our warship doesn't have that much cash. How about you come back to the Marine branch with me?" Garp smiled awkwardly.

"Is that so? Then I'll trouble you. It's quite a distance from here to the Marine base," Luke said, sounding slightly troubled.

"It's alright. Since you killed those wicked pirates, you are righteous. We Marines will be responsible for your repatriation," Sakazuki said. Sakazuki was very happy when Luke called him a "righteous little Navy soldier." His righteousness had been recognized!

"Really? That's great! But it means wasting two days of research time. So… do you know how important time is for scientific research?" Luke still complained a little.

That evening, Garp reported the situation, explaining that Luke's experimental subject had eliminated a pirate with a 500 million bounty.

"What? An experimental subject took down a pirate with a 500 million bounty?" Kong was shocked! "Are you sure it was him?"

"Of course, he was the only one on the ship at the time… Zzz… Zzz…"

"Hello… Garp… Hello…" Kong was speechless. He knew at once that the scoundrel had fallen asleep again. Sakazuki was more reliable.

"Fleet Admiral Kong, do you have any instructions?" Sakazuki asked.

"I just reported this scientist to the government. The government is very interested in recruiting him. Tell that old man named Luke that he lacks research funds, right? The Navy can provide all the research funds he needs. However, the results of his research must be supplied exclusively to the Navy. Also…"

Thus, Grandpa Luke became an honorable scientist in the Marine Military Weapons Research Department!
