Chapter 96 - OPHK: Chapter 96

"What Grimm needed most now was to replenish his revival coins immediately.

The battle with Kaido, that stubborn idiot, had been too exhausting. Grimm was now in a terrible state. If he had fought any longer, he would have had to run back from the corpse.

Grimm could now see his graveyard in the system. There were only a dozen or so locations in the New World. No matter where he died, he would respawn randomly. If he died on Byrnblus, it would probably take… a month to retrieve his corpse!

Even so, Grimm couldn't just kill innocent people and commit massacres. After all, the Holy Light was benevolent, and the punishment for killing even one civilian was severe.

If he absolutely had to replenish his revival coins, where would be the best place? Undoubtedly, the battlefield.

There was no penalty for dying on the battlefield.

He thought of the future when Whitebeard, to save Ace, would ignite one of the three great pirate wars, the Summit War. So many people would die, but would Ace die? Judging by the name, he really died.

So much wasted emotion. Every time Grimm thought of this, he felt heartbroken. Since he had come to this world, he would definitely change Ace's hobby.

Speaking of which, war was the fastest way to replenish revival coins.

At this time, newspapers served as a very important tool.

Newspapers reported not only on pirates and Marines but also on matters concerning some kingdoms or the government.

Especially major (or insignificant) events like wars, the government would definitely report on them.

In the past, Grimm had assisted one of the Four Kingdoms of the North Sea, the Kingdom of Minnas, in a war. Afterward, he saw news reports about the event, but perhaps due to the intervention of the Marines, or perhaps the Kingdom of Minnas later joined the World Government, the matter was erased.

It was as if he had never intervened in that war.

Currently drifting in the New World, Grimm, besides occasionally replenishing his revival coins by dealing with some pirates, paid more attention to newspaper reports.

Finally, two months after the Battle of Byrnblus, Grimm saw a report about a war in the news.

The Kingdom of Lettes and the Kingdom of Etkexay were in conflict over a Devil Fruit. Neither side was willing to back down, and it had finally escalated into war.

Grimm was very curious. What kind of Devil Fruit had such great appeal? He seemed to have picked up a Devil Fruit himself last time.

It was time to get a Devil Fruit encyclopedia.

The battlefield of these two kingdoms was not too far from here. Like Alabasta in the Grand Line, it was a super-large land island kingdom with a considerable land area. Furthermore, these two countries were connected and had a history of constant conflict. The Devil Fruit might just be the trigger.

Warfare on land was more convenient, allowing Grimm to act more freely.

Currently, in the New World, only Whitebeard had some intention of ruling, which laid the foundation for his later acquisition of the Yonko title.

Old Whitebeard was too low on mana. After using a few skills, he was done for, let alone fighting for days and nights!

But his vitality was indeed thick. Even with half his face gone, he could still fight Blackbeard!

Roger had no interest in ruling. Shiki had even greater ambitions. He felt that ruling a few kingdoms was too unsatisfying. Either don't rule at all, or rule the whole world. So, he roamed around with his fleet, doing who knows what. As for the Lone Wolf Red, he disappeared after his battle with Shiki!

There were also the future two Yonko, Kaido and Charlotte Linlin, who were currently suppressed by Legendary pirates and had no territory or influence comparable to their Yonko status.

In summary.

The island nations in the New World are currently in a state of free rule.

The two countries Grimm had his eye on, the Kingdom of Lettes and the Kingdom of Etkexay, were just like this.

This supercontinent was called "Lulusis," occupied by multiple countries. The two largest were Lettes and Etkexay, who harbored ambitions of ruling the entire continent.

Jiana soon followed the Eternal Pose to the southern coast of the Lulusis continent.

After parking the ship, Grimm told Plank and Jiana to have free time and do whatever they wanted, while he went to the battlefield alone.

Compared to Alabasta's all-desert terrain, this place was mostly covered in grasslands with wild grass reaching knee-high. As the breeze blew, it gave a very refreshing feeling.

When Grimm stood on top of a hundred-meter-tall stone mountain, about two kilometers away, a military fortress was being built.

On the flagpole, a symbol of a white bird with spread wings fluttered. Grimm could tell from the map marker that it was the symbol of the Kingdom of Lettes.

He sensed the camp of the opposing Kingdom of Etkexay, which was stationed about ten kilometers away.

Both sides were in a state where war could break out at any moment.

Grimm sat on the hilltop, just as Garp had watched Grimm and Kaido's battle before, observing the war between the two kingdoms.

Grimm didn't rush down to get revival coins immediately. He wanted to devour both sides while they were fighting.

After observing, the Kingdom of Lettes had an army of about twenty-five thousand, and the Kingdom of Etkexay was likely not much different.

As expected of a battle between major powers, the number of troops was not far off. In fact, many kingdom armies had less than ten thousand soldiers.

Grimm waited here for two days, occasionally killing patrolling scouts and soldiers of the Kingdom of Lettes to replenish his revival coins. He also eliminated a patrol from the opposing Kingdom of Etkexay.

Furthermore, Grimm learned an interesting piece of news: the Devil Fruit that these two countries were fighting over was a Mythical Zoan fruit, rumored to be even rarer than Logia-types.

To be precise, it was an Animal-Type, Mythical Zoan, the Fire Phoenix Fruit. As soon as one ate it, they would gain considerable combat power, a monstrous fruit.

Grimm's mind flashed with a previous thought: "To all the Straw Hat Pirates, this great lord will collect some Devil Fruits for you. You'll have to thank me in the future!"

However, these two kingdoms had no idea they had been targeted by Grimm. Even if they discovered their people were disappearing, they assumed they had been captured by the enemy.

Finally, that night, the alarm in the Kingdom of Lettes' military camp sounded. From the camp, a sentry's shouts could be heard, "They're attacking! The enemy is attacking! Prepare to meet them, prepare to meet them!"

Soon, in the Kingdom of Lettes' camp, everyone was ready. They picked up their weapons, quickly formed ranks, and advanced rapidly towards the enemy.

Cavalry, spearmen, infantry—several troop types formed their respective formations and advanced rhythmically.

However, most people in the kingdom were ordinary people, at best, professionally trained. They relied on numbers to win. If there were any strong individuals or masters among them, the entire battlefield situation would change dramatically, just like the war Grimm had intervened in before.

But why hadn't anyone eaten that Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit yet?

This was something Grimm was very curious about. So, he would resolve them, and everything would become clear.

"It's time for me to make my move too!"

Grimm stood up from the ground, his body turning into holy light. He charged towards the enemy army along with the Kingdom of Lettes' army.
