Lyra.
The sun rose over the forest, painting the trees blood-red. Shadows twisted across the clearing, stretching long like dark fingers reaching for us.
I could feel him in every part of me heartbeat, breath, thoughts.and I knew he could feel mine. The bond wasn't just a mark; it was a river of energy pulsing between us, vibrating in rhythm with the forest itself.
"You're ready," he murmured, pressing close, golden eyes locking on mine. "Together, we can face anything."
The ground trembled violently beneath our feet. My old pack emerged from the trees, snarling, eyes blazing with fury.
But behind them… something darker, faster, hungrier moved, its molten gaze burning into my soul.
Claws flexed, shadows coiled, fire pulsed through my veins. I had never felt so alive… so terrified.
The first creature lunged, massive and impossibly fast.
Time slowed.
The Dark Alpha struck like lightning, claws slicing through its shadowy form, while my own hands erupted in fire and darkness, striking anything that dared come close. Sparks flew, leaves ignited, and the forest shook with every strike.
Another creature crashed toward me, jaws snapping.
I twisted instinctively, energy lancing from my mark to bind it in place.
The Dark Alpha followed through, fangs sinking deep into its shoulder, claws tearing through its flank.
Together, our movements were seamless bonded, synchronized, unstoppable.
But the darker creature was still circling, watching, calculating. It lunged at me with unnatural speed.
My mark flared, energy erupting from my body like a storm, but it slammed into me with brutal force.
I was thrown back, scraping across roots, pain flaring in every nerve.
He was there in an instant, shadow wrapping the creature like chains, claws digging deep. I scrambled to my feet, fire coiling around my arms, shadow lashing from my legs.
Together, we struck in perfect unison.a strike of molten gold and black shadow, burning, cutting, and tearing.
The forest itself seemed to respond to our bond.
Branches whipped like whips, roots erupted from the soil, entangling the enemies.
Every pulse of my energy connected to him, amplifying ours.
Fangs snapped inches from our faces, claws tore through air and bark alike, and the creatures fell, scattered, broken, or fleeing.
Finally, the battlefield quieted, only the sound of our breathing and the pulsing energy of the bond filling the clearing.
He pressed close, golden eyes intense but soft.
"Whatever comes," he growled, voice vibrating in my chest, "we face it together."
And in that moment, I knew we weren't just bonded by mark or ritual we were bonded by fire, shadow, and blood, ready for anything the world dared throw at us.
