Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Weapon Manufacturing

The next morning, after Altair was woken up by Irene, the first thing she saw was a bag and a letter on the bedside table not far from the head of the bed.

In complete contrast to her, the servants busy with their chores around her seemed to be deliberately avoiding looking at the bedside table. They never glanced at that spot, so until she finished washing up, no one noticed there was anything on the table.

Once the servants left, Altair walked to the bedside table, picked up the unusual letter, and opened it to read:

"As agreed last night, I have delivered the items you required. Seeing you were already sound asleep, I did not wish to disturb you and left the items in the bag on the bedside table. The way to open the bag is the Hermes word for 'Open'. There are many items; I suggest entering the independent space of the 'jewelry box' to open it. I hope they meet your satisfaction. If anything is missing or needs replacement, simply let me know, and I will see to it as quickly as possible."

"May you have slept peacefully last night."

"Adam"

From this, it was evident that Adam's personality was quite considerate toward his subordinates. After returning from the Twilight Hermit Order last night, Altair had gone straight to sleep because she truly hadn't expected the task of collecting raw materials and machinery entrusted to Adam to be completed so quickly.

However, whether the materials were truly collected that fast or if everything was arranged by a script... After Altair finished reading the letter Adam left, she directly used 'Black Flame' to ignite it. Once she was certain the letter was burned to ash without leaving any hidden risks,

she then picked up the bag beside her and examined it closely. In terms of material, it had an indescribable leathery feel, and its appearance was ordinary and unremarkable. If not for the faint radiation of spirituality, Altair would have thought Adam was playing a joke on her.

After examining it, she couldn't help but marvel once again. Whether it was Beyonder characteristics or ability-based creations, the 'Door' Pathway was truly practical. She wondered when she might encounter one.

If she could find one, she would use her abilities as a 'Savant' to guarantee that she would squeeze out every bit of its value, wasting not a single drop.

As for that salted fish in Backlund, she was out of the question—just a small fry with a low Sequence. Even if she were squeezed repeatedly, nothing good could be produced.

After her lament, Altair immediately used Meditation to connect her consciousness to the 'Ancient Castle' deep within, allowing her true body to enter the 'library' in the Spirit World.

After locating the 'jewelry box,' she used her spirituality to communicate and entered its built-in sub-space.

Completely different from the independent world she had imagined, there were no mountains or water here. It was merely a quiet, enclosed space with a few incredibly faint light sources.

The feeling this faint light brought to Altair was not the warmth of the Sun, but rather an utter coldness. If she hadn't known beforehand why she was here, she would have fled this space long ago.

Holding the bag in her hand, Altair spoke calmly to the opening in Hermes: "Open."

Before the word had even faded, silver-white ripples appeared at the bag's opening, and a palm-sized translucent light door manifested out of thin air. Following Altair's thoughts, the items within the bag floated out one by one, neatly stacking themselves exactly where she wanted them.

Looking at the items around her, which included everything from machinery to raw materials, Altair couldn't help but think, 'Aren't they supposed to say "Evil Gods" are poor? Why is Adam so rich?' Once the machinery was organized, Altair left the space of the 'jewelry box'.

After eating breakfast in the dining room, she took the items she had Old Clayton prepare and returned to this special space.

Perhaps to satisfy a mischievous whim, Altair deliberately chose the 'Mosin-Nagant rifle,' intending to let this world repeat the great war between 'German-equipped divisions and Soviet-equipped divisions'.

She then took out another Sealed Artifact, the 'Machinery Hivemind'—the pale yellow transparent crystal Adam had given her, which Altair had named 'Machinery Hivemind'.

Holding it in her hand, Altair activated its second ability: 'Inject spirituality to summon Steam Elemental Warriors'.

Once the summoning was complete, Altair operated them with her mind, beginning to set up and calibrate the machinery. She planned to produce through efficient division of labor and an assembly line method.

With all preparations finished, Altair used her spirituality to activate 'Ability 1' and paired it with 'Ability 2'.

She controlled multiple machine tools simultaneously to perform tasks like drilling barrels, rifling, milling and drilling receivers, making firing mechanisms and stocks, and so on. Meanwhile, she had the Steam Elemental Warriors place semi-finished products onto the machine tools.

The first 'Mosin-Nagant' took Altair a full 30 minutes to complete. After inspecting the rifle and confirming there were no issues, she used the Sealed Artifact to let the machine tools run at 'full power,' pushing the machines' output to the limit. Subsequent firearms came off the line like dumplings into a pot, with one qualified rifle produced every five minutes.

When three hours had passed, Altair saw gear patterns faintly appearing on her skin and was forced to stop the manufacturing work. She thought to herself, 'It seems that even with a "High Level," I cannot negate the side effects of this Sealed Artifact itself.'

Returning to the real world, Altair began to contemplate, 'How exactly can I maximize production within a fixed timeframe?'

It certainly wouldn't work to 'displace' this space into the real world to recruit workers. Although she could use a Sealed Artifact to create a closed factory, no one would choose to work in such a place.

If she lifted the restrictions, the workers would surely spread rumors everywhere. If that caught the attention of MI9 spies, the losses would outweigh the gains.

Although she did not approve of George III and felt no sense of belonging to this country, it didn't change the fact that this was essentially 'colluding with the enemy and treason.' Once discovered, she would certainly face a siege.

Furthermore, manual labor wasn't necessarily faster than her using machinery... Machinery... Right, I can design a special production line, like fully automated production.

No sooner said than done. After leaving the 'jewelry box,' Altair began searching the 'library' for optimization plans she could use.

The fully automated weapon production plan "The Evolution of Gun Making," the popularization of'specialized machine tools,' deep-hole drilling machines: specifically for drilling barrels, dozens of times faster than manual labor; rifling machines: pulling multiple rifling grooves at once... and this "Optimization Design of Artillery Automatic Weapons," which can reduce the number of parts and precision requirements... Forget that one. After all, her selling point was high-precision, high-power weapons. If she couldn't meet those requirements, she was afraid no one would pay.

However, she could wait until they expanded the war further and then guide them to propose simplified plans. After all, her weapons weren't cheap. At that moment, Altair thought, 'I'm really too good to them, even thinking of finding optimization plans for them. I am a good person.'
