"Felix!"
Celeste rushed into the hospital like a woman possessed, her eyes swollen and red from crying.
The moment she saw Matteo standing outside the operating room, she hurried over and grabbed both his hands.
"What happened?" Her voice broke between sobs. "How did this happen?"
"Mom, please calm down," Matteo said gently, trying to steady her. "Sit down first."
He guided her to a row of chairs and helped her sit.
The moment she lowered herself onto the chair, the tears came pouring out again.
"I spoke to him this afternoon," she sobbed. "He sounded upset, but he promised he'd come home for dinner."
Her shoulders shook violently. "I even asked the housekeeper to prepare all his favorite dishes."
She covered her face with both hands. "I waited for him... I thought he'd walk through the door at any moment. But instead, they called to tell me he had been in an accident."
