Chapter 174 - Psychic Warfare

The transformed Pokémon circled each other with predatory assessment.

Primal Galarian Moltres radiated darkness that corrupted the psychic atmosphere. Mega Alakazam emanated mental force that had been refined across decades of partnership. Neither could be underestimated. Neither would retreat.

"Type immunity," Hiashi acknowledged. "Your Dark-type negates my Psychic attacks. An advantage most challengers don't possess."

"But not invulnerability."

"No. Not invulnerability."

"Focus Blast!"

Fighting-type coverage struck with power that Mega Evolution had amplified. The attack bypassed Dark-type resistance, exploiting the weakness that type charts guaranteed.

Moltres banked hard, the Trick Room's speed inversion making evasion sluggish. The Focus Blast clipped dark wings, damage accumulating despite the dodge.

"Shadow Ball!"

Ghost-type energy followed immediately, not super effective, but neutral damage that Moltres couldn't simply ignore.

"He's forcing coverage exchanges," Kiyomi analyzed. "Neither can use primary typing effectively, so whoever has better coverage wins."

Hiashi's strategy evolved into something more dangerous.

"Psychic, on the environment!"

Mega Alakazam's spoons oriented not toward Moltres, but toward the arena itself. The floating platforms that had been passive obstacles began moving with purpose.

Telekinetic assault from every direction.

Platforms swung toward Moltres like massive projectiles. The arena's design, already favoring Psychic-types, became weapon that attacked from angles flying alone couldn't address.

"Dodge!" Sasuke commanded.

Moltres's aerial superiority manifested in three-dimensional evasion that ground-bound opponents couldn't replicate. Dark wings carried it between platforms, around telekinetic throws, through gaps that seemed designed to trap.

But Trick Room remained active.

Speed reversed meant reactions came slower than instinct demanded. A platform that should have been avoided connected, impact staggering Moltres mid-flight.

"The dimension itself fights against you," Hiashi observed.

"Must end Trick Room," Sasuke calculated.

"Fiery Wrath!"

The Dark-type special attack erupted from Primal Moltres with force that exceeded typical parameters. Anger-fueled flames burned through psychic constructs, the Trick Room's dimensional distortion included.

Reality snapped back to normal.

Speed returned to natural relationships. Moltres's aerial superiority reasserted itself with sudden acceleration that caught Mega Alakazam off-guard.

"Now! Blitz attack!"

The assault was relentless.

Moltres's restored speed created offensive patterns that Alakazam's defensive capabilities struggled to address. Dark wings carried rapid repositioning while attacks came from angles that telekinetic barriers couldn't cover.

"Dual Wingbeat!"

Physical Flying assault struck twice in rapid succession. Alakazam's massive special defense couldn't compensate for physical vulnerability that the Psi Pokémon had always possessed.

"Lash Out!"

Dark-type energy followed immediately, the malevolent attack amplified by frustration that Trick Room had generated.

Mega Alakazam staggered visibly. The Dark-type immunity that Moltres possessed meant Alakazam's primary weapons were useless, forcing reliance on coverage moves that couldn't match the consistency of pure Dark assault.

"He's overwhelming your Alakazam," someone in the crowd observed.

"Primal Reversion!"

Hiashi's command triggered transformation that exceeded anything Sasuke had anticipated.

Mega Alakazam's form shifted again, not replacing Mega Evolution, but building upon it. The ancient power that Primal forms accessed merged with Mega Evolution's refinement.

Primal Mega Alakazam.

The entity that emerged transcended normal classification. Its presence warped reality simply by existing. The psychic force it radiated exceeded what the arena's design had been built to contain.

"Reality-warper," Hiashi announced. "What Alakazam was before physical limitation, before dimensional constraint, before even language existed to describe it."

"Psychic, on space itself!"

The attack wasn't aimed at Moltres. It was aimed at the fundamental nature of the arena.

Gravity shifted.

Up became down. Down became sideways. The floor twisted into configurations that spatial understanding couldn't process.

Moltres lost all bearings.

The Dark/Flying type crashed into a platform that shouldn't have been there, that hadn't existed in normal space until Alakazam's reality manipulation created it.

"Focus Blast!"

The Fighting-type attack found its grounded target with devastating precision. Super effective damage struck Moltres while it struggled to orient itself in distorted space.

Massive damage.

Moltres's Primal form flickered as the attack overwhelmed defenses that Dark typing alone couldn't maintain.

"Significant injury," Miyuki assessed with professional concern.

Sasuke's options had narrowed dramatically.

Moltres was severely weakened. Alakazam's reality manipulation had created advantages that conventional strategy couldn't counter. The battle that had seemed favorable was slipping away.

"One option," he decided.

"Dynamax!"

"Dynamax!"

Both commands came simultaneously.

The gigantic transformation engulfed both Pokémon, Primal forms maintained while Dynamax energy expanded their presence beyond anything the arena had hosted.

Primal Dynamax Galarian Moltres.

One hundred twenty feet of ancient darkness given form. Dark flames trailed from wings that cast shadows across the entire arena. The phoenix of malevolent energy had achieved scale that cities might have feared.

Primal Mega Dynamax Alakazam.

The psychic entity grew to match its opponent, massive presence that bent reality simply through existing at this scale. Its spoons now resembled monuments, each one capable of telekinetic manipulation that could have moved buildings.

"Maximum transformations," the announcer managed, voice shaking. "I've never, no one has ever seen..."

The crowd fell silent.

What stood before them exceeded anything competitive battling had produced.
