Chapter 12 - Gift System of Generosity (10)

On Duskrice 3, 1850 AC (Arbiter Calendar), as requested by Alistair, the system began handing out three random free gifts. Following this, a new update for the gift system was issued:

"Dear Alistair, I will categorize the gifts into two distinct types. First, the random gifts will depend on luck and will not be available for unlimited use. This means you can use a random gift only once or a limited number of times, depending on the item. The random mechanics will provide either a one-time use item or one that can be used multiple times."

"The second type consists of personal gifts, which may include abilities, skills, or items that are permanently usable. You can choose between a one-time use item or a permanent ability, item, or skill that I will provide solely for you."

"Keep in mind that the random mechanics are based on the items or objects from your continent, whether they are useful or not. Their usefulness will depend on your interpretation of each item's description."

"Now, I will gift you the three random gifts."

"The first random gift is a custom-made treasure chest designed for one-time use. You can store items or objects inside this treasure chest. Only you can open the chest, except for those in the Early Aura Transformation Realm, who can open it using their strength. You can store at least three items inside the custom-made treasure chest."

"The second random gift is a copper sword that has been refined into an Aura Copper Sword, capable of slicing through a thick wooden tree. It takes only 10 seconds to charge the Aura Copper Sword to be able to cut down a thick tree. However, the sword can only be charged a maximum of 10 times before it reverts to a regular copper sword."

"Lastly, the third random gift is a Strengthening Aura Pill, which enhances the physical capabilities of the aura user's strength for 10 minutes. This pill can increase the Aura Materialization Realm, allowing the Aura Color Level to rise by 1 for 10 minutes. Once the effect wears off, the user returns to their original state. For those in the Aura Transformation Realm, it takes only 3 to 5 minutes for the effect to take place. For example, if an Early Transformation Realm user takes this pill, they will temporarily become a Mid-Aura Transformation Realm user for 3 to 5 minutes."

After receiving three random gifts, Alistair saw the perfect opportunity to use his original idea: to find a random chest and place the gauntlet inside it. Now that he had a custom-made treasure chest, this would serve as an ideal alibi. After all, this chest could only be opened by him and by those at the Aura Transformation Realm.

He walked towards a random tree and began digging, using his aura to scoop out the ground. After making a hole large enough to fit the custom chest, he scooped the dirt back in, creating the impression that he had discovered real treasure—when in fact, he hadn't. It was the perfect cover for his mission. He placed the refined Aura Gauntlet inside the treasure chest, along with the Aura Copper Sword and a Strengthening Aura Pill. Although Alistair had a few Aura Pills left, he didn't need the Strengthening Aura Pill.

With that, he completed what he needed to do. Looking up at the sky, he noticed that the sun had already passed noon. He then headed back to the Leaf Village, carrying the treasure chest. Upon his return, a village guard stopped him for questioning.

"Hunter Alistair, is this a treasure chest?" the guard, David, asked.

Alistair nodded. "Yes, Village Guard David. I found it near a random tree while I was digging. The problem is that I can't open it, so I plan to return to the guild and report this treasure chest I found."

The village guard looked at Alistair and inquired where he had found the treasure chest. Alistair pointed to a huge tree, and the guard nodded, sending some of his men to verify whether Alistair was telling the truth. "Sorry, hunter Alistair, but we are only making sure that what you found is real and not made up," the guard explained.

Alistair calmly looked at the village guard and smiled to avoid raising any suspicion. After a brief wait, the village guards spoke to David, who confirmed that Alistair had indeed dug into the ground and found treasure. "Alright, that concludes our inspection. You can head to the guild now. Thank you for your time," the guard said.

Alistair bowed his head and carried the treasure chest to the guild. Upon his arrival, Ismeria and Lyra were waiting for him, surprised to see that he had actually brought a treasure chest. "Alistair, is that a treasure chest?" Ismeria exclaimed.

Alistair nodded, and one of the hunters stood up to question him. "Young lad, did you really find that treasure chest in Leaf Village?" he asked. Alistair nodded again, prompting Ismeria to defend him. "Hey, old man, are you questioning my brother?" she said, looking angry.

"Calm down, Miss Ismeria. We just want to ensure he is telling the truth and not lying. How about we try opening the treasure chest to see if he's honest?" the old man responded. For some reason, Ismeria irritated him, but Alistair interrupted, saying, "Old Hunter Sir, the truth is, I cannot open the treasure chest. Even using my aura, I can't get it to open." Everyone nearby looked confused, and the old man moved closer to the treasure chest, asking Alistair for permission to try. Alistair agreed.

As the old hunter struggled to open the chest, the veins in his muscles stood out with effort. "What the— it won't even budge!" he exclaimed. A younger hunter nearby smirked and said, "Maybe you just don't have the strength, old man." He stepped forward to try and open the treasure chest himself, but it remained firmly shut. "Damn it, why is this so hard to open?" he cursed, prompting laughter from the old man.

Meanwhile, the receptionist, who was also an appraiser, examined the treasure chest and gasped in disbelief. "This can't be! It's a custom-made treasure chest worth 1 Gold Royal!" Everyone in the guild was stunned; Hunter Alistair had discovered something incredibly valuable.

"Big Sister Ismeria, do you know what a custom-made treasure chest is?" Alistair asked, feigning ignorance. In reality, he understood the term but was unaware of its significance. Ismeria responded, "Alistair, let me explain. Only those at the Aura Empowerment Realm can own a custom-made treasure chest like this one. What you've found is incredibly valuable, meaning that whatever is inside will likely be even more valuable." Alistair's eyes widened in shock as he realized that, although he knew the name of the chest, he had underestimated its importance.
