Chapter 21 - Journey to the Winter North (4)

On Gloomshade 14, 1850 AC (Arbiter Calendar), two weeks and a few days had passed since Alistair arrived at the Whisperpine Expanse for training. During this time, he had trained in light clothing to improve his cold resistance in the mornings and evenings. Alistair inquired if there was a way to display all of his abilities and gifts, since he was not fully aware of them. The system responded with a thumbs-up icon, and Alistair was astonished by how it presented his abilities and gifts, including various information he did not know.

The system displayed his details: 

- Name: Alistair Dawnstrike 

- Age: 15 years 

- Gender: Male 

- Race: Human - Transcendent Mortal

Next, it provided information about his body structure: 

- Height: 165 cm 

- Weight: 60 kg 

- Physical capabilities: All above average 

- Eye color: Gold 

- Hair color: Brown 

- Body structure: Lean muscular

His height and weight had changed following the Body Reconstruction Process, making him slightly taller and more muscular. While his overall structure remained the same, his senses—hearing, smell, and sight—were enhanced, allowing him to see further distances, hear more clearly, and smell furthur.

The system then displayed his newly upgraded abilities, including enhancements gained over the past weeks. Some of these were automatically claimed by the system without his interference, as Alistair had been focused on training his body and skills to perfect his movement and timing in preparation for fights against enemies or hostile forces.

Alistair's journey began with the Basic Fist Technique, which was later upgraded to the Intermediate Fist Technique during his progression from Level 8 to Level 10 in the Aura Materialization Realm. Upon ascending to the next realm, the Intermediate Fist Technique transformed into the Aura Impact Technique. This new technique focuses on converting the practitioner's Aura into explosive force during close-range combat. It teaches the him to condense his Aura at the point of contact and release it the instant his strike lands, producing powerful internal shockwaves that can bypass external defenses.

Along with this transformation, all his abilities from the Basic and Intermediate levels were replaced with new techniques related to close combat. The new techniques he acquired include Crashing Pulse Strike, Reverberation Palm, Shattering Fist Crack, and Impact Step. 

His second ability also evolved from a Basic and Intermediate level to a different technique. Previously known as Basic/Intermediate Aura Fortification, it has now transformed into Aura Fortress. This ability allows him to withstand all physical attacks for several minutes, rendering him immune to harmful and lethal strikes. However, despite its power, Aura Fortress has a significant drawback: it consumes a large amount of Aura energy, putting him at a disadvantage.

His third ability, originally called Fortification Blast, has transformed into Fortress Thorns due to the evolution of his Aura Fortification into Aura Fortress. This new ability connects directly to the Aura Fortress. When both abilities are activated simultaneously, Fortress Thorns allows him to transfer a small portion of damage to his enemies. The advantages of this ability include the capability to draw a small amount of aura energy from his opponents. However, there are drawbacks: this ability only affects foes who possess aura energy within their bodies. Consequently, normal individuals, including wild animals, cannot be targeted, as they lack aura energy or doesn't have aura energy.

His final ability, known as Imperial Aura Swords, consists of incomplete sword techniques. The drawback of this ability is that Alistair has never had the opportunity to practice these techniques. Most of his abilities rely on close combat, so he is currently unsure about adopting sword techniques. For now, he intends to focus on mastering close combat before incorporating weapons into his fighting style in the future.

The system then transitions to the next display of information, which indicates that Alistair's abilities are always active and do not need to be triggered manually.

The first ability is called Aura Generation. He has reached an Intermediate Level with this ability, which enhances his physical capabilities momentarily. Previously, this was a triggered ability, but now it activates automatically every 24 hours. Each activation reduces Alistair's aura energy by one minute in exchange for a permanent increase in specific physical attributes: Strength, Speed, or Durability. The advantage of this ability is that when Alistair's aura energy is low, the ability automatically ceases to function and will resume once his body can hold at least 15 to 20 minutes' worth of aura energy.

His second automatic ability is called Basic Iron Body. While still in his Aura Manifestation Realm, he ascended to the next realm, the Aura Materialization Realm, at which point his Iron Body reached an Intermediate Level. Now that he is in the Early Stage of the Aura Transformation Realm, his Intermediate Iron Body has evolved into a Steel Body. This transformation grants him immunity to heavy physical attacks and minor imbued aura attacks. He has also gained resistance against precision projectile attacks, allowing him to block fast and heavy projectiles. He can withstand the impact of large boulders or even survive when a medium-sized house collapses directly on him.

His Steel Body also provides two new resistances: Shockwave Resistance and Sound Resistance. Regarding shockwave attacks, he remains stable and is not easily affected. In the case of sound attacks, his ears are shielded from damage, preventing his mind from wavering.

Alistair's third ability, previously known as Intermediate Deflection, has evolved into Guard Deflection. This ability forcefully taunts a single enemy, compelling them to engage Alistair directly. While it diverts the opponent's focus, Guard Deflection also allows Alistair to transfer half of the damage he receives to the targeted foe after one minute of guarding. This is particularly advantageous when Alistair is unable to use his physical abilities due to the significant aura energy required for some of his moves. However, the downside is that if he miscalculates during the damage transfer, he risks suffering a portion of that damage himself.

His fourth ability, which was originally called Intermediate Medic Kit, has transformed into Guard Heal. While in guard mode or a ready stance, Alistair can heal a small portion of his body. The healing effect does not alleviate fatigue, but it gradually mends small scars and minor cuts, allowing for quicker recovery.

Lastly, the fifth ability, Dream Training, has been removed. In its place, Alistair receives a one-time item that grants him Immersive Training. This allows him to observe high-level sparring sessions with various opponents and enables him to completely replicate one technique he witnesses during the experience.

Alistair spoke to the system, "I see, so these are my new abilities. Some have been removed or transformed into a different form, while others have evolved into something new. Based on my abilities, it seems I am classified as a Guard Type Aura User, since everything is related to defensive skills. Well, whatever works, I suppose." The system gave a thumbs up and encouraged him to continue his 10 km run in the snowy area.
