On Starcrest 28, in the year 1850 AC (Arbiter Calendar), Alistair had a brief farewell with his squadmates before leaving Frostgate Fortress to explore the Whisperpine Expanse. He planned to exit on the other side of the expanse, as the system had instructed him to do. Unbeknownst to Alistair, the system was working behind the scenes to create a fake identity that could potentially deceive the church for several years, preventing future complications for Alistair's journey and true identity.
Meanwhile, in the Aurelian Empire, within the Imperial City of Solmara, stood the Great Cathedral of Seraphine. Surrounding the cathedral were four towers, each with distinct roles and responsibilities. The third tower was particularly significant, functioning as the Management for Roles and Duties, with the most important task being the Archive of Names. This archive documented the names of all individuals linked to the church, whether they were active, inactive, retired, presumed dead, or deceased. If multiple individuals shared the same name, a distinguishing number was added; however, every name in the Archive of Names was accompanied by a corresponding face.
The third tower was one of the most crucial structures, as it maintained comprehensive records in the Archive of Names. The current head of the Archive was Grand Cardinal Alaric Johannes Vandenberg, who was at the Mid-Stage of the Aura Infusion Realm.
Grand Cardinal Alaric was following his usual routine, engrossed in his favorite activity—paperwork. Surrounded by a huge bundle of documents, he enjoyed a cup of his favorite tea. As he worked, a bright light suddenly flashed before him, accompanied by a soft voice that seemed to hypnotize him. The voice urged Grand Cardinal Alaric to create identification papers, specifically to include Alistair's name in the Archive of Names with an active status.
Under this influence, Grand Cardinal Alaric began to write the identification papers, stamping them with his approval. Just like that, Alistair was officially added to the Archive of Names. The unknown entity infused him with memories of meeting Alistair during his travels as a missionary. At that time, he had been disguised as a priest, hiding his true identity. While staying in Leaf Village, he met a young child named Alistair, who was apprenticed as a lumberjack. Alaric sensed something special about the boy, prompting the unknown entity to implant memories that convinced him to recognize Alistair as a level four badge holder of a Judicator Aura Knight, along with additional proof to support this claim.
An hour later, the unknown entity flicked her finger as she completed her work and disappeared. Grand Cardinal Alaric awoke, surprised to find that he had dozed off at his desk for the first time. With a start, he noticed the identification paper bearing the name "Alistair."
"Alistair? Oh, I remember him—the young boy from Leaf Village. I can't believe he is now a member of the Cardinals of Seraphine," he thought as he read the document. The implanted memories reassured him, and without hesitation, he stamped a second identification paper, as the first one had been used for the unknown entity.
After the unknown entity left, she placed the identification paper in Alistair's inventory without him noticing. This entity was connected to the system; more like a helper than anything else. A few hours later, after Alistair's name was entered into the Archive of Names, the system grew concerned about his identity being exposed. It knew that Celestra and some individuals, who were either interested in or hostile towards him, were already watching his presence. To mitigate this, the system suggested that Alistair check number 27 on the list of recommended unclaimed gifts.
As Alistair rode his horse toward the snowy forests of Whisperpine Expanse, he reviewed the number 27 recommendation for the unclaimed gift he had already claimed but not yet used. "According to the blue screen, this ability allows me to summon permanent random characters into this world. The ability is called 'Roll of Unwritten Fates.' So, how does this work, system?"
The system replied, "The Roll of Unwritten Fates has seven different tiers, ranked from lowest to highest: Common, Rare, Epic, Super Rare, Ultimate Rare, Legendary Rare, and God Rare. Individuals in the Common to Epic tiers typically come from backgrounds that are less favorable to moderately good. Super Rare characters have backgrounds known for three to five generations, while Ultimate Rare characters can be traced back over six generations. Legendary Rare and God Rare individuals are those originating from the founding of the Two Arbiter Continents of Freedom and Neutrality. However, with my ability, I will allow you to summon random permanent characters from outside the barrier and grant them absolute loyalty, preventing any future betrayals or harm that may arise between you and the summoned characters."
"I think I barely understand. Could you explain the mechanics for summoning them?"
The system replied, "Summoning consumes a unique currency called Fate Coins. One Fate Coin is equivalent to one Gold Royal."
"What? One Gold Royal? That's very expensive! Is there a discount?"
"Yes, there is a discount for group summoning. Summoning ten random characters will cost you only eight Gold Royals, and so on. Lastly, while the characters are randomly summoned, the outcome is influenced by your luck. I will not assist you unless one of the gifts is related to luck items."
"Here is the tier chance pull rate: Common (60%), Rare (25%), Epic (10%), Super Rare (3.5%), Ultimate Rare (1%), Legendary Rare (0.4%), and God Rare (0.1%)."
"Wow, System. There are chances of 1%, 0.4%, and 0.1%, which is insane. If I asked you how many times I would need to summon to have a chance of receiving those random characters?"
"Based on my calculations, Alistair, you would need to summon at least 1,000 times to have a reasonable chance."
"Oh wow... Well, that's fine. I believe this ability will be useful, especially when soloing becomes difficult during my journeys. Thank you, System."
"One important note, Alistair: every time you enter a new territory, such as Whisperpine Expanse, the chances of getting random permanent characters are influenced by that territory."
Alistair was surprised to learn that he could either obtain random individuals or have a chance at specific individuals from a territory.
