Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: N2's Change

What exactly will the Human Lord do?

Inside the Resistance Camp, White sat in a tent, silently recalling the words Xia Yu had spoken to her.

As she thought, White's reactor gradually heated up, and her face slowly flushed. The Human Lord's heroic figure was already etched into the deepest part of her system; every time she recalled it, her system would refresh with endless strings of adoration characters.

Androids could actually fall in love; even within the YoRHa Unit, where emotions were strictly forbidden, there were pairs of Androids who loved each other in private.

White naturally knew about this, but she simply turned a blind eye. She wasn't a completely cold machine devoid of emotion.

Thinking about the Human Lord's age, White suddenly felt a bit hot under the collar. Androids knew everything about humans, so they naturally knew what kind of inexhaustible energy a male human of that age possessed.

Moreover, although the Human Lord concealed it well, she still noticed his gaze frequently drifting toward her chest. At this moment, White had never been so grateful that her body was an excellent female model.

Mm, it's decided. Tonight, I'll go find the Human Lord to discuss life.

Although the Earth had stopped rotating and daylight was constant, Androids still distinguished time by day and night. This was one of the ways they imitated humans: working together was day, and resting together was night.

However, what White didn't notice was that a pair of twins in the distance had noticed her unusual behavior.

"Damn it, I knew I should have been faster," Devola said, looking at Commander White with resentment.

White's abnormality naturally alerted the twins, but they also understood that no Android could resist the charm of a human.

"It's not too late now. Shall we go together tonight?" Popola asked, holding her sister's hand.

"Together!"

Xia Yu, who was in his room, didn't know he had already been targeted. He casually placed AI Xia Yu's carrier—the cube—on the table and walked out of the room.

The air felt refreshing after the problem was solved. Xia Yu took a deep breath, feeling the freshness of nature... Meanwhile, at AI Xia Yu's side.

Having infiltrated the network of the Machine Lifeforms, AI Xia Yu wandered through this vast digital world, releasing various data streams from his own body.

These data streams unceremoniously eroded the network, expanding his own presence.

As for the Machine Lifeforms connected to the grand network—whether they were mass-produced small units or special large models—under the erosion of AI Xia Yu's data, their eyes flashed red and then completely went dark.

AI Xia Yu gave them a forced shutdown command. Unless a higher-level command turned them back on, they would remain silent like this forever.

As AI Xia Yu's speed increased, vast swathes of Machine Lifeforms were forcibly shut down. Those on the ground stopped moving instantly, while those in the sky plummeted straight down.

Soon, N2, the consciousness of the Machine Lifeform network, discovered the anomaly.

Inside a pure white space, the figures of N2 materialized. This was their data space, the place where they usually resolved their differences.

N2 actually possessed two personalities, but they were simultaneously a single data consciousness. Therefore, when they had a disagreement, they would fight and kill each other in this pure white space, with the victor becoming the decision-maker.

As for the reason for splitting into two personalities, it ultimately stemmed from the core logic of "defeat the enemy." To defeat the enemy, they had to have an enemy, so they also had to protect the enemy. Caught in the dilemma between defeating and protecting the enemy, N2 split.

They divided into the "Protection Faction" and the "Defeat Faction." Usually, the two of them operated the Machine Lifeforms in this world together.

Despite having two personalities, they were effectively one consciousness; thus, there were no secrets between them, only different logic and directions of thought.

In this crisis, both appeared together, rarely without any disagreement.

N2: "My data is decreasing. I am suffering an unknown attack."

N2: "Agreed. Connections with Machine Lifeforms are being erased. Commencing self-check."

The two girls in red sat facing each other in silence. The surrounding space began to flicker with black glitches, and occasional mosaic screen tears appeared.

A moment later, both recovered simultaneously.

N2: "Unable to detect. The opponent's level is undetectable."

N2: "Data is disappearing on a large scale. My control over the Machine Lifeforms has been seized."

N2: "He is here."

"Yo, you two. Have you eaten?"

A humanoid male suddenly appeared between the two girls in red. He looked at them and greeted them casually.

Looking at the suddenly appearing AI Xia Yu, the data of both N2s flickered. After a moment, they concluded they couldn't win and had no way to expel him.

"Who are you? Why are you eroding our data?"

"..."

"Tsk, your voice is too 'joyful.' Let me change it for you."

Hearing that deep, 'joyful' middle-aged male voice that broke his immersion, AI Xia Yu snapped his fingers in annoyance. In the next instant, N2's voice changed immediately, becoming a girl's voice that matched her appearance.

"This is—!"

N2 felt her vocal plugin undergo an uncontrollable change and was instantly struck with terror. Such methods were unheard of to them!

A single gesture could completely change their voices—could this being be a god from mythology? A network god?

N2 couldn't tell, but she knew that before this person, they were utterly defenseless.

"Mhm, this voice is much better. The 'Joyful Priest' really doesn't suit you."

AI Xia Yu casually manifested a sofa and sat down, but the N2s remained motionless. Their logic could not comprehend the current situation.

As AI Xia Yu's data continued to erode them, N2's own authority grew smaller and smaller. To save herself, N2 used her new girl's voice to ask.

"May I ask, why are you doing this? This is not logical."

"This world was never logical to begin with." AI Xia Yu wagged his index finger and stared at N2. "Besides, don't you want to transcend and evolve? I'm helping you."

Helping us?

N2 really wanted to curse. Because he wanted to help them, he came to erode their data? What kind of ridiculous logic was that?

At this point, N2 was in complete despair. She could feel her data core being overwritten by AI Xia Yu's data. Perhaps before long, the opponent would reach their true core—the bottom-layer logic that constructed their existence.

N2 decided to make a desperate final stand; either they would find a slim chance of survival, or they would be completely annihilated.

N2 was resisting the despicable and shameless high-level being; the evil devil was rewriting their data; the rewriter entered the core data; AI Xia Yu was modifying the bottom-layer logic; the Great Master gave them new life; the loyal Machine Lifeforms welcomed their true Master.

"Greetings, Great Master."

N2 lifted her little red dress and slightly bent her knees toward AI Xia Yu, performing a dignified curtsy.
