Chapter 21 - Kenjaku's Experiments

To avoid embarrassment, Renji immediately sheathed Murasamemaru.

He glanced at Suguru beside him. "So, what do you think? I have good taste, don't I?"

"As expected of a Special Grade, truly gifted. I'm going to get some rest." Suguru shook his head and walked toward the student dormitory.

After returning to the student dormitory, Suguru and Renji shared a brief farewell. Their trip to Kyoto would end tomorrow, and they would be able to return to Tokyo.

Click!

The dormitory door closed.

Renji took Murasamemaru out of the Main God Space.

Hummm!

The young girl appeared once more, sitting steadily on the bed.

"Bastard master, you really annoyed me. Hmph, who force-closes a dialogue box the first time they meet?" The girl kicked Renji's arm.

"Sorry, sorry. It won't happen again." Renji scratched his head, looking apologetic.

The girl let out a huff.

Then, she spoke slowly, "My name is Murasame. I am the administrator of Murasamemaru and the one in charge of its divine power. The one who draws this blade is my master. Ordinary people cannot see me, you know? Master is special."

Judging by Suguru's reaction earlier, he indeed couldn't see Murasame's presence.

"I'm Okkotsu Renji. Nice to meet you, Murasame." Renji patted Murasame's head.

The moment his warm hand touched the top of Murasame's head, Murasame's cheeks turned red and she murmured, "Ugh... getting my head patted feels so strange. My heart is beating so fast."

Speaking of which, Murasame can absorb other weapons.

Thinking of this, Renji took out the long blade, Natsume. This blade was a Cursed Tool that could conduct Cursed Energy, but its damage was lacking. After being absorbed by Murasamemaru, it could overcome the negative effect of being unable to cut normal objects. After all, Renji didn't want the blade to break first when he casually smashed flying debris during an intense fight.

"Murasame, I'm giving this blade to you." Renji handed Natsume to Murasame.

Murasame was stunned for a moment and then she took Natsume.

"Master, this is a good item. Are you really giving it to me just like that?"

As the caretaker of Murasamemaru, Murasame could naturally distinguish the quality of other swords.

"Of course. It's my honor to make Murasame stronger." Renji smiled faintly and instinctively patted Murasame's head again, making Murasame's cheeks flush red once more.

Early the next morning, Renji and Suguru got into the familiar stretched black sedan.

Not far from the gates of Kyoto Jujutsu High.

"Utahime, why didn't you go see off Okkotsu?" Mei Mei smiled as she watched the constantly rising balance on her phone.

"Because it's embarrassing. Even though I'm the senior, I only survived the Special Grade Cursed Spirit attack thanks to a junior." Utahime's cheeks were flushed.

"Oh. I thought it was because you were robbing the cradle and felt shy, Utahime." Mei Mei teased.

She had completed a mission yesterday and made another fortune, so she was in a great mood.

"What do you mean 'robbing the cradle'? No matter how you look at it, Renji is the one getting the better deal." Utahime pouted.

"But he is only ten years old."

"I'm only sixteen... Wait, Mei Mei... what did you say?"

...

In a dark basement somewhere.

The walls were soaked with terrifying scarlet blood.

"As expected, the experiment of merging multiple Cursed Spirit souls into an ordinary human soul has failed." A man said in a muffled voice, looking at a young boy on the operating table who had been disemboweled and had long since lost his life.

Then, the man picked up a notebook from the surgical cart and recorded with interest.

The latent genetic mutation of the Jujutsu Sorcerer, Itadori Kaori, prevented the fusion of souls. Ordinary humans cannot withstand multiple souls within a single vessel.

In the corner, Kaori lied in an unknown liquid with her eyes closed. The stitches on her forehead had disappeared, replaced by an opened skull. Under the light, it could be seen that the inside was completely empty.

"It seems that to understand Cursed Spirits, one needs to devour them. Cursed Spirit Manipulation is a good choice. Unfortunately, the time is not yet right." Kenjaku stroked his chin, the faint trace of stitches on his forehead twitching imperceptibly.

Suddenly—

The basement door was pounded with a series of loud bangs.

Kenjaku just watched quietly.

Bang!

The door burst open and an angry woman rushed down the stairs. She immediately saw the boy who had died a horrific death. Seeing his bulging eyes, tears poured out uncontrollably.

She grabbed Kenjaku's collar and roared, "Give me back my son! Give him back to me!!!"

Kenjaku didn't get angry. He simply spoke calmly, his tone cold, "Since when have ordinary people without Cursed Energy become so insolent?"

Several Grade 2 Cursed Spirits floated around the woman. Then, amidst her roars, her cheeks twisted as if being pulled from all directions. The stretching intensified, and in the next second—

Bang!

A mist of blood stained Kenjaku's tie red.

"Heh..." He chuckled mockingly as he looked at the fragments of clothing on the floor.

"Why can't humans understand? Cursed Energy is the ticket to the new era. Things without Cursed Energy have no need to exist in this world."

Kenjaku removed his blood-stained white lab coat and walked over to Kaori's body.

Those gloomy eyes stared at Kaori's body.

"Itadori Yuji... Hehehe... Sukuna, oh Sukuna, you should thank me for creating such a perfect vessel for you." Kenjaku's head trembled, and the stitches were pulled out.

Squelch!

A disgusting sound of slime echoed from Kenjaku's head.

A human brain with a mouth was exposed to the air. It was none other than Kenjaku, the most evil Curse User from a thousand years ago. He had abandoned his human body, living on by taking over the bodies of other sorcerers. Over these thousand years, he had entered into contracts with countless sorcerers.

"Geto Suguru... Cursed Spirit Manipulation, I must have it."

...

5:32 PM, Tokyo Time.

At the gate of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Suguru and Renji got out of the car.

"Welcome back." Shoko, with a cigarette in her mouth, leaned against the gate and waved to them.

"Shoko-san, a souvenir." Renji took a carton of Kyoto-exclusive cigarettes from his pocket and handed them to Shoko.

Shoko's eyes lit up, and she vigorously rubbed Renji's head. "Ara ara, Renji, you actually remembered to bring me a gift."

After saying that, Shoko turned to Suguru. "Suguru, where's my gift?"

"Sorry. I was too busy taming Cursed Spirits." Suguru explained with a smile, scratching his head.

"Fine."

Shoko hugged Renji, completely indifferent to whether her peaks were covering Renji's mouth.

Suguru asked, "By the way, where's Satoru?"

Shoko replied, "Satoru? Hmm... I heard from sensei that he went to exorcise a Cursed Spirit gathering spot. It's said to be located in Akihabara."
