Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Dog Training Master

Joe Gallo had two brothers. Several years ago, during the Profaci family civil war, both of them fought alongside him.

The man currently at the art museum was Gallo's brother, Albert "Kid Blast" Gallo.

Albert helped Joe Gallo manage the family's armed forces and assassin teams, so this time the battle was bound to be difficult.

Still, it wasn't a serious problem.

Those small fry couldn't possibly stop the Peace Ambassador's rare-card lineup.

And now there was an additional fighter—Zero.

Before moving, however, they needed a proper plan to deal with Albert.

The art museum had a large staff and strong security.

Should they launch a full-scale assault?

Or conduct a surprise attack?

Perhaps an assassination?

First, they needed to understand the situation.

Luca and his group carried the injured Elle Driver back to the club.

This was Zero's first time here, and he looked around with curiosity.

"Miss Ishii, will I have the chance to meet Mr. Hattori Hanzo when we return to Japan?"

Although Zero appeared aloof, he was actually quite talkative. The entire trip, he had been thinking about Hattori Hanzo's legendary sword.

"I heard Mr. Hattori retired from the underworld and vowed never to forge weapons for killing again. At that time, assassins everywhere were devastated. For the assassin world to lose Mr. Hattori's sword… it was like the Christianity losing Jerusalem."

O-Ren Ishii: "…"

Luca nearly lost his composure hearing that comparison.

Getting a sword from Hattori Hanzo was actually quite simple—just help him kill Bill, the traitor.

In the original story, Black Mamba used exactly that reason to persuade Hattori Hanzo to forge a new blade so she could eliminate Bill.

Luca smiled.

"I've heard about Mr. Hattori's sword, and I know why he sealed it away. I also know how to convince him to forge another one."

Both O-Ren Ishii and Zero looked at him in surprise.

Even we Japanese don't know that. How does an Italian know?

O-Ren Ishii asked curiously,

"Dove, do you know Mr. Hattori?"

Luca answered casually.

"I had the honor of meeting him while on a mission in Japan before."

Zero's bald head practically shone with excitement.

"Mr. Greco! Please—you must persuade Mr. Hattori to come out of retirement! If you can do that, I will be eternally grateful. I would gladly die for you!"

O-Ren Ishii's expression also carried a trace of anticipation.

Luca deliberately kept them hanging.

"Let's talk about it when I visit Japan."

O-Ren Ishii smiled and nodded.

"You are welcome in Japan. When you come, I will host you."

"You helped me greatly in New York. When you return to Japan, no matter what trouble you encounter, if you need my help, I will come—even if it's from the other side of the country."

"Thank you."

O-Ren Ishii gripped the sword hilt tightly. Excitement flashed in her eyes.

With the help of the Dove of Peace, she might finally reclaim everything her family had lost.

Previously she had considered relying on the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and Bill's influence.

But now it seemed she had better options.

The group then began planning the next move.

Luca considered asking Leon to carry out the assassination, since Leon had much more experience in that field.

At that moment, King of Bowery Street called.

"Dove, Albert is dead. It happened right after you left Bowery Street."

Inside A Manor in New Jersey

Santino stood by the window as one of his men delivered the report.

Ares was dead.

Santino remained relatively calm.

"Bring more men from the family."

Almost all his bodyguards had been killed, leaving him feeling extremely unsafe.

That Butcher…

A flicker of unease passed through Santino's eyes.

That man was not only a ruler—he was also a powerful assassin.

Fighting him directly wouldn't work.

Trying to outmaneuver him politically wouldn't help much either.

I hate dealing with troublesome people like this.

After his men left, Santino walked into the lobby.

Joe Gallo sat on the sofa smoking a cigar.

"Now even the Butcher has joined the game," Santino said coldly. "Gallo, you really have a lot of enemies in New York."

"Butcher?"

Gallo frowned, irritation rising immediately.

He had dealt with the Butcher before when handling the union problem. Now that he was in trouble, that bastard had turned against him?

Despicable.

Shameless.

Just as treacherous as Carlo Gambino.

Gallo became more furious the longer he thought about it.

He exhaled a thick cloud of smoke.

Gambino had promised to support him in seizing power. But after Gallo killed Joseph Colombo, the old man suddenly pretended to be senile and stayed out of everything.

None of the promised support ever came.

Otherwise, would he be in such a terrible position now?

Would he have needed to ask the Camorra for help?

If Gambino had honored his promises, the Colombo civil war would have ended long ago.

Only now did Gallo realize he had been used.

He even suspected the Butcher had taken advantage of him as well.

"Santino."

Gallo's eyes hardened.

"I'm going to kill Gambino and the Butcher. And you're going to help me."

Santino's eyes widened.

F***, this guy is insane.

Killing the Butcher was one thing.

But killing Gambino?

The old man was practically dying already—why stir up that kind of chaos now?

The death of a Commission chairman would trigger a massive upheaval.

Santino wasn't sure he could control the aftermath.

And besides…

Was Carlo Gambino really that easy to kill?

At that moment, Joe Gallo's phone rang.

He answered.

"Gallo… your brother is dead."

---

Earlier that day at Brooklyn Art Museum.

Albert Gallo sat in his upstairs office handling family affairs.

Joe Gallo could hide.

But someone had to remain in New York to manage things.

Otherwise the Colombo faction would devour everything the Gallo faction owned.

Even killing Joseph Yacovelli later wouldn't change anything.

After finishing several phone calls, Albert stood up to go to the bathroom.

At that exact moment—

The ceiling quietly shifted.

A bald head appeared.

High nose.

Deep-set eyes.

A calm, indifferent expression.

The bald man dropped silently to the floor like a cat.

He took out poison prepared earlier and poured it into Albert's coffee.

After finishing the task, he slipped back into the ceiling and disappeared.

This assassin preferred quiet methods.

Unless necessary, he never caused a commotion.

Accidental deaths were always better.

This target had been troublesome.

Too many guards.

Too much security.

Direct assassination would have been difficult.

So poisoning was the simplest solution.

Soon after, Albert returned to his office.

An eye from the ceiling watched him drink the coffee.

Then vanished.

Moments later, a well-dressed man wearing sunglasses appeared in the museum hall like a casual tourist.

He passed through the heavy security without attracting attention.

Then blended into the crowd.

And disappeared.

Some time later, Albert's men discovered their boss dead in his office.

Luca was quite surprised when he heard the news.

How did the target die before I even made a move?

Over the phone, the King of Bowery Street explained.

"I don't know the details. But he's dead. Probably an assassin. Several people in the Gallo faction have bounties on them, so lots of killers are watching."

Luca sighed in frustration.

If someone had to kill him, couldn't they at least interrogate him first?

Then Mariggio called.

"The one who died was Gallo's older brother. A major figure in their faction."

"With Albert gone, Gallo's faction just lost a lot of power."

"Luca! Albert is dead!"

Mariggio sounded excited.

"Yacovelli must have hired an impressive assassin."

Luca asked,

"So it was someone hired by Joseph Yacovelli?"

"That's right," Mariggio said. "Yacovelli contacted us earlier. The assassin comes from Global Engineering Group."

"They're professionals. As long as the money is right, they can kill anyone and make it look like an accident."

Luca fell silent.

Global Engineering Group.

He knew that organization.

A corporate-style assassin syndicate disguised as a legitimate company.

Their most famous killer had a special nickname.

The Mechanic.

Luca remembered there should be a rare card there.

Possibly even an SSR.

Was the assassin who came to New York that Mechanic?

If guessing didn't work, then meeting them directly would.

"Mariggio, can you arrange a meeting with that Mechanic?"

Mariggio sighed.

"How? Orders go through Global Engineering Group. They never reveal the assassin's identity."

Luca shrugged.

If he couldn't meet them, then forget it.

Maybe the person who came wasn't that rare card anyway.

---

The Next Day, At SSR Club

William Sommerset stood at the front desk greeting guests.

But his eyes kept glancing toward a corner of the reception hall.

A Black man sat there.

Beside him was a dog.

The man held a notebook containing information about various High Table factions—the Italian Camorra, the Mexican Cartel, the Russian Bratva, and of course the American Mafia.

He flipped through the pages while occasionally observing the guests passing by.

Eventually William approached him.

"Sir, our club—"

"Dogs aren't allowed either?" the man interrupted.

"You city people sure have a lot of rules. This is my emotional support animal."

William hesitated.

"That's not what I meant, sir. I just wanted to ask if you need any service. You've been sitting here for quite a while."

"Need any help?"

"None."

The man looked toward Luca, who had just entered the club.

"I just want to meet your boss. I have business with him."

As he spoke, Luca also noticed him.

He had always been unusually sensitive to dogs.

Luca looked surprised.

He didn't get the Mechanic.

Instead he got… this dog guy?

Is this greedy guy here to ask me for a bounty?
