Evelyn's POV
"Turn around."
James looks at me in the rearview mirror. "What?"
"Turn the car around. We're going back."
"Evelyn, no." Damien grabs my arm. "That's exactly what he wants."
"I don't care what he wants. They have Sophia." My voice shakes. "She's in danger because of me. I'm not leaving her."
"We need a plan. Backup. We can't just—"
"There's no time for plans!" I yell. "You saw her. Unconscious. Being dragged into that house. By the time we get backup, she could be dead. Or worse."
Damien stares at me. His jaw works. Finally he nods.
"James, take us back. Side entrance. The one through the garden."
"Sir, that's suicide."
"I know. Do it anyway."
Five minutes later we're parked two blocks away. Damien hands me a small device.
"Tracker. If we get separated, I can find you. Keep it in your pocket."
I take it with shaking hands. "What's the plan?"
