Maya's POV
Maya found Derek in the storage district at dusk.
He was moving between crates, checking supplies. Looking nervous. Like he was always looking for an escape route now.
She blocked the exit before he could run.
"We need to talk," Maya said.
Derek's face went pale. "About what?"
"Don't insult me with lies," Maya said. Her voice was calm but underneath it was ice. "I've seen the pattern. The wall breach that let monsters in. The supplies that went missing right before the battles. The intel leak about our eastern flank that got soldiers killed."
Derek started backing away.
"Every critical moment," Maya continued, moving closer, "something went wrong. And every time, you were close enough to make it happen. Every time, you had access."
"You're paranoid," Derek said, but his hands were shaking.
Maya blocked his path again. "The Sovereigns recruited you. Offered you something. What was it?"
