The sound of his steps echoes down the round stairwell, amplified with worn his leather boots as He continue to descent down the concrete steps with only his pen flashlight barely lighting the steps below him with its small beam of light. The only light source within the utterly pitch darkness.
After a long descent, He finally reacted the bottom. Then, He made his way toward the metal double doors(the same one He have left opened yesterday) before entering it through soon after without.
Step.
Step.
Step.
His steps now echoes through the total dark hallway as the sound bounces from wall to another.
No sound of the wind from outside, nor the occasional distance bird sound. Just him and the Dead, dead silent now. Which is one of the reason why He was quite hesitant to revisit this bunker when He was planning his exploration back at the apartment room. He just wanted to come back here to explore and search throughout the bunker that He didn't get to do so yesterday. Simple.
But it wasn't just the silent that scares him. Aside from it and the sheer darkness, He wasn't sure if he's truly alone in this place, despite seeing no sign of anyone as far as He aware of yesterday. Still, He couldn't help but to feel unnerved and on edge at all time in this place despite being armed and more 'prepared'(despite it just him having a coat, satchel, and boots).
After a long moment of walking, arriving at the same barricade down the hall from yesterday and carefully navigate through them, He then continue to walk down the dark hall for another long moment before finally arriving at the hall intersection.
The hall intersection is the same as He remembered from yesterday. With the singular pillar at the middle that split the hall into 4 ways.
Stepping closer to the pillar at the middle and shine towards it, He sees the same old way finding signage pattered onto the pillar.

' Right... I think I already know what I must do next. '
He thought.
Can you guest what he's going to do next?
If you choose 'Turn the damn lights on', then you're be correct. And where could He 'Turn the damn lights on'? The answer is the 'Generator room'. After all, it's common sense(or to some; a 'rare sense') to think as such, right? No way he's going to explore and scavenge in pitch blackness and constantly use his pen flashlight around. Otherwise he'll be stuck in the dark once the battery has drained.
But before He could go straight down the hallway in question, an idea appeared in his mind.
Taking out the map from his satchel, He then flips it to its blank side.
' Maybe it's best I should draw a map of this place, that way I could navigate and retract my steps easily. '
He thought.
A wise decision.
With that, He temporarily put his pistol into his satchel before taking out an old wooden pencil(which He so happened to have taken with him when He was searching through the military camp back then) from his satchel as He go on to make a quick drawing on the blank side of the map.
After a few moments later, He finally done doing so, putting the pencil back into his satchel as He go on to take a look at his work.
' It's not perfect...
But gets the job done. '
He thought.
After putting back the map into his satchel, He took out his pistol again from his satchel before finally making his way towards the hallway in front of him that should lead him to the generators.

.
.
After a bit of walking down the hallway, He eventually came across what appears to be a makeshift checkpoint. With barricade and concrete barriers, along with a set of metal double doors to the right a few meters away from him with a sign that says;
'Security sector,Authorized personnel only'.
The walls and the ceilings are a lot more grayish by the looks of it, and... Perhaps slightly more luxurious? As the floor now have carpets and maybe a bit more cleaner compared to the hallway behind him (though there were still some random items littering across the carpet floors. Its just a bit lesser).
' No sign of the generator room yet. '
He thought.
While the metal double doors that supposedly leads into the security sector seems intriguing, that's not his main focus right now. He have to turn on the lights, well, at least try to turn the lights on. That is, if the generators still works after who-knows-how-long.
Hopping over the concrete barrier, He continue onward down the hall, leaving behind the metal double doors and the checkpoint.
But just after a few moments of walking, He eventually found what He have been looking for.
' Oh sweet. Found it! '
He happily thought.
The hall split into 2 ways in front of him, one of which has a sign that leads towards the 'Generator room' on his left while the right has a sign that leads to the 'Director's office'.
As expected, He took and went down the left hallway.
After yet another moment of walking, He eventually arrived in front of a metal double doors, which certainly leads to the generators.

Generator room
Authorized personnel only
---
' This is it. '
He thought.
He looked down at his pistol, seeing as the safety is off for a moment before looking back up towards the double doors before him. His eyes narrows slightly in readiness and determined.
' Let's do this... '
And with that, He finally reach down and opens the double doors inward.
Entering through the doorway and stepping into the room, He shine his small beam of light across the room, scanning around the area with his pistol raised and ready to fire.
After scanning and ensuring that the room is clear, He lowers his pistol back to his side before aiming the small beam of light from his pen flashlight towards a precisely 3 old yellowish large metal machinery at the end of the room.
The room he's in is indeed the generator room. With many wires of various color and sizes laying around the room and running above the ceilings, various panels around the room and the walls, and of course, the 3 old yellowish colored large generators. In conclusion: it seems to be just a regular old generator room that provide electricity for the bunker.
Waiting no time to analyze the new area, He went head straight towards the 3 large old generators.
As He did, He..... Stood there, standing completely still in front of the 3 large generator for a moment.
...
.....
' ... How do I operate the generators? '
He thought as realization slowly began to creep in.
He was so focused on wanted to turn on the lights so He doesn't need to walk in the darkness, that He didn't bother thinking about the process of it. And little did He knew, its not as simple as it sounds.
He found the generators, yes. But does He know how to operate the generators or even have the basic knowledge of how electricity works?
Flickering the safety on, He puts down his pistol into his satchel as He now began to inspect and search around the room, perhaps in attempt to for something. Maybe some sort a manual or maybe a guide on how things work around the generator room. After all, if there's something as such like a generator room, there must be someone who specialized in these sort of things, whether they're new or experienced.
After pacing around the room for a bit, He quickly notice what appears to be a book lying untouched on one of the panels near the generators.
Curious, He goes towards the panel before taking the book into his hand.
The book appears old and dusty, with an old red cover that reads'|How to manually & automatically operate a dieselgenerator: For dummies edition|' once He wipe the dust off of the cover.
' How convenient for this to be here. Though I supposed it make sense for it to be here. '
Taking the book with him, He went back to the generators.
Opening the book in his hand, He slowly began to read through its instruction with the help of his pen flashlight.
"'Before turning on the diesel generator, check the fuel/coolant levels to ensure sufficient level, ensure the fuel valve is open, turning the main circuit breaker to "OFF" before starting...' My, this is... A lot more difficult than I expected."
He mutters to himself while continuing to read with a growing sense of confusion yet quite determined to push through the rather sophisticated instructions despite it says 'For dummies edition'.
.
.
' I... Think I got it..? '
He thought.
After fully reading through the entirely of the book's content, He glances towards one of the 3 generator to his left before making his way to it first.
And for the rest of the time, He was going back and forth between generator to another, flicking and checking through some gauges while He occasionally re-read the book in his hand.
.
.
After what felt like forever, He finally place down the book in his on the panel before looking towards the 3 generator that He have been going back and forth for a while.
' Alright... I did as the instructions attended. This should work... Maybe. The 3 generators surprisingly still has quite a sufficient amount of fuel and coolant, and I've press and flicked some specific buttons and levels exactly what the instruction said so. The only major thing to worry about, is whether this will work once I flick on the main breaker. '
He thought.
Gently, He places a hand onto the big red level on the panel that read 'MAIN BREAKER' on it.
' Here goes nothing... '
.
- Inhale -
.
- Exhale... -
.
...
.....
' Let there be light. '
He flick the level up with a combined sound of electricity and old metal.
.
.
.
Nothing happened.
' ... Did I... Did something wrong-- '
Then, a flicker of light slowly light up the generator room as the 3 generator slowly hums for a moment before the generators slowly began to produce a deep, heavy, and consistent mechanical thumping.
"Woah-!"
He let out with a surprised look as the generator room light continue to flicker a lot for a moment before the flickering finally stopped.
"I... I can't believe it actually worked!"
He looked around the room, taking the moment to admire the entire room now lit by the light on the ceiling before He quickly went to cover both his ears.
"Oh god-- it's getting very loud here!"
He looked back towards the 3 running generators for a moment before He goes to grab the book on the panel and stuff in down his satchel.
"Better go before my ears hurt-!"
With that, He quickly ran towards the doorway, exiting the generator room before shutting the metal double door behind him, only slightly muffling the loud mechanical rumbling of the generator trio.
Soon after that, He goes to look down the hall behind him, which has now been lit by the hallway ceiling lights, though some of the light occasionally flickering.
Turning off his pen flashlight, He puts it down in his satchel.
' Now this is a lot more better. Finally! '
He thought with a sense of happiness and profoundness of what He has managed to do just now.
He goes down the hall, now no longer has the sense of unnerve and on edge--
- THUMP-! -
"HUH-!?"
He let out as He immediately jumped at his feet upon hearing the sudden loud sound reaching his left ear.
And his instinct, is to take out his pistol from his satchel before aiming it towards a hallway, a hallway that leads to the 'Director's office', which was where the sound had come from.
' ... '
For a moment, He remained stood at his feet, no making any sound as He continue to aim his pistol at the end of the hallway in question, where a wooden double doors is present.
' ... Just what was that just now..? '
He thought.
It wasn't cleared of what the sound was. He only knows that it was quite muffled yet still loud and sudden enough to startle him. And by the looks of it, it was coming from behind the set of wooden double doors.
And at that same moment, the same sense of unnerve and on edge quickly creeps back down in his chest.
...
.....
' Should I investigate..? '
He thought.
For a moment, he's conflicted. But after a moment later, He finally made his choice.
Slowly, He began to move down the hallway, approaching the double doors with his pistol raised.
When He finally reacted the doors, He slowly presses his ear onto the doors, attempting to hear whatever was on the other side.
...
No noise, though He could feel a faint low rumbling through his ear, most likely from the set of 3 generators back at the generator room.
He slowly retreat his ear from the doors as He then reach down towards the door handles.
For a moment, He was hesitant.
But after taking his moment to build up his courage...
- Burst-! -
"AGH!"
He loudly grunt painfully when the double doors sudden slam open outward at him, causing him to fall flat on his back onto the floor.
He quickly looked back up towards the doors that just slammed open on his face as He let out yet another grunt when He slowly began to lift himself from the floor with his elbows.
However... His body freezes upon realizing what he's seeing right now standing in front of him.
...
A corpse.
... A standing corpse.
Dressed in a tattered, old outfit, with some visible key feature on it such as a neck tie and a checkered suit.
For a moment, a gasp quickly escaped from his mouth, feeling as if his breath have been caught.
And the next, his eyes widen, enough to the point that it began to hurt.
And then... He points at the corpse.
...
' M-my gun-! '
His pistol, is no longer in his hand.
He looked around in a swift, frantic motion.
He saw it. His pistol. It was laying on the floor a few meters away behind him, most likely been flung from his grasp when the doors suddenly slammed into him.
But as He does, He quickly looked back at the corpse, which... Slowly began to limb its way towards him.
When He saw it move, He let out a startled gasp this time, a mixed emotion of fear, confusion, and shock. Fear, as He doesn't know what will happened if the corpse managed to caught onto him.
Confusion, as He was confused as to how such thing is still moving and sentient despite its grotesque look.
Shock, as He didn't expect things to go bad really quick in such a short amount of time.
"S-stay away-! I have a gun!"
For the first time, He shouted. And it is at a moving corpse, which is highly unlikely for something like a corpse to listen to someone's request.
He quickly flip his body around, his chest now facing the floor as He frantically crawl his way towards his pistol while hearing the sound of the corpse approaching slowly behind him.
Once He reach his pistol, He quickly grab it back into his grasp before flipping himself over and frantically points it at the limping corpse.
He lay his index finger on the trigger.
He squeeze it hard.
.
- Click. -
.
"W-what!?"
He looked at his pistol with horror on his face before looking back towards the approaching corpse.
! [Warning] !
-----
[ Firearm jammed ]
[ Cause of jam: Light primer strike ]
He quickly reach onto the pistol slide as He frantically attempt to rack the slide back. However, it took him a few attempt before He finally managed to do so; ejecting a round from the chamber before re-chambering a new round.
But the corpse is already in front of him once he's done.
Looking back up, He saw the corpse quickly jumps onto him, in attempt to thrash onto him.
Luckily in response, He quickly rolls to the side, managing to barely dodge away from the corpse's attack, though resulting a pain through his back due to the hard surface.
Once He saw the corpse fell onto the floor with a strange, wet sound, He frantically took the opportunity to get himself back up to his feet.
Once He managed to do so, He quickly point his pistol back at the corpse.
No wasting time.
He squeeze it hard.
- BANG-!! -
.
.
The first thing He saw was a brief flash and a hint of smoke.
The second He hear was a loud, ear-piercing sound violating both his ears.
And the third He saw was a casing violently ejects from the gun as it briefly bounces on the floor before settling soon after.
And the last He saw, were the corpse laying on the floor where He once was, with a splatter of mysterious liquid beneath its head as the splatter slowly began to ooze larger as second passes.
...
.....
He just fired his gun. And He just shot a corpse. And now, He couldn't hear anything for a moment.
Ringing... Ringing... Its what he's currently hearing. And it hurts at the same time as well.
But after a moment passes, He began to regain his hearings.
But at the same time--
- Burst-! -
- Burst-! -
- Distant rumbling... -
--He began to pick up many sounds coming from down the hallway behind him.
For a moment, He stood still, still staring down at the bleeding corpse...
... Until He wasn't.
He quickly shake his head, snapping himself out of it as He quickly looked back from his shoulder.
' Get out. NOW! '
He thought.
A wise decision.
With that, He move his feet.
He began to ran down the lit hallway before reaching the same makeshift checkpoint, but not before seeing the metal double doors leading to the security sector burst open outward.
He didn't looked back.
He ran. And ran.
He reached the lit 4 hallway intersection with the pillar at the middle.
More and more doors bursting open by force coming from both of his side and behind him.
He ran.
He ran, before reaching the barricades and barriers down the lit hallway, which He frantically navigate through before jumping over a sandbag barricade.
He finally reach the open doorway leading to the lit spiral staircase and the elevator.
Without wasting time and not thinking anything, He ran towards the steps before quickly began to ascent up the spiral steps while hearing a horrific sounds of limping began to close in behind him.
.
It didn't took long until He finally reached up the top as He soon after ran towards the open airlock.
He exits out from the airlock and into the overgrown room before running towards the open doorway. The sounds of limping behind him somehow closing in even closer than before.
Then, when He reach the open double doorway and into a bask of sunlight, He finally exits the building.
"-Halt! Stay where you-"
He heard.
A voice. Not his. Not his own thoughts. Not his own voice.
But without hesitation, He shouts.
"GET THESE CORPSES OFF OF ME-!"
Before leaping himself onto the pavement floor, covering his own face with his shaky arms.
"What-- Дерьмо!ELID!"
"KYAA-!"
"Scheiße-!"
The moment He heard another set of voices that sounded different from previously, multiple ear-piercing gunshots quickly filled across the air, his ears flooded yet again.
Ringing...
Ringing....
"WAHH THERE A LOT OF THEM--"
"--Scheiße! Scorpion, Type-56, use your grenades--"
- BOOM-!! -
- BOOM! -
Ringing.....
"--GR MP5, use your shield!--"
Ringing....
.....
.....
...
..
.
.
.
He finally regained his hearings.
The gunfire, the sound of explosion, and the gut muttering horror behind him.
All gone. Instead, now replaced by a few set of steps slowly approaching him.
After what felt like forever, a voice finally broke the ice.
It sounded like a mix of calm, strickness, and zealousness. He wasn't sure.
"Hallo, Sir? Are you alright?"
In respond, He finally remove his arms, slowly revealing his own face as He glance up towards the one who spoke to him.
But all He saw was a blur of... Someone with a long gold hair and a black officer cap.
"... I... Guess..?"
He mutters from his lips, barely audible.
Yet it seems that that 'someone' in question managed to catch his words.
"Hm. I see."
The 'someone' firmly nods down at him.
"My name is STG-44. From the Griffin and Kryuger PMC--....
...
....
Suddenly, He couldn't hear anything around him anymore.
' 'STG-44'... That's... A weird name...- '
...
.....
...
His eyes finally shuts.

Author's note
Greetings, readers!
Sorry if this part came out a bit short and quite rushed.
I may have to some polishing and rewrite some stuff here if I have the time to.
Next chapter might going to be a long one(perhaps even longer), as it will contain an introduction of a female G&K Commander who'd been hired and assigned to a region designated as 'S-12' / 'Sector-12' 2 weeks prior to our protag's awakening and up to the present day after his awakening.
(Also excuse me, I'm I seeing things? #1 in 'girlsfrontline' tag??)
