The following afternoon, Jahnae walked into the college science laboratory.
The room was empty.
Rows of glass beakers and chemical containers lined the shelves.
She closed the door quietly.
Moving carefully, she began mixing two chemicals together inside a small glass tube. The liquid slowly turned darker.
Her movements were calm and deliberate.
Once the mixture was ready, she drew the liquid into a syringe.
Without hesitation, she slipped it into her pocket.
The sound of footsteps echoed behind her.
Jahnae froze.
When she turned around, a man wearing a mask stood at the doorway.
Her eyes widened.
"You shouldn't be here," she whispered urgently.
The masked man remained silent.
Jahnae quickly walked toward him.
"Smily's brother has started investigating," she said. "If he keeps digging, everything will be exposed."
She pulled the syringe from her pocket and handed it to him.
"If they corner you," she said coldly, "use this."
The masked man nodded slowly.
Without another word, Jahnae turned and left the laboratory.
Later that evening, Roxy saw Jahnae again near the college cafeteria.
She sat alone, quietly eating dinner.
Roxy approached her and sat down across the table.
"We need to talk," he said firmly.
Jahnae didn't respond.
She continued eating as if he wasn't there.
Roxy leaned forward.
"Tell me the truth about my sister."
Slowly, Jahnae looked up.
Something dangerous flickered in her eyes.
"Don't mess with me," she said coldly.
Roxy frowned.
Her voice lowered.
"You'll end up just like your sister."
The words sent a chill down his spine.
"And don't think about revenge," she continued calmly. "What I told you before was the truth. I loved her. She was my best friend."
Her expression hardened.
"But if someone crosses me… I make sure they regret it."
She stood up and walked away.
Roxy remained frozen in his chair.
Her words echoed inside his mind.
Before he could process everything, his phone suddenly rang.
It was his mother.
Her voice trembled when she spoke.
"Roxy…"
His heart started racing.
"What happened?"
There was a long pause.
Then she whispered the words that shattered his world.
"Your father… passed away."
The world around Roxy suddenly felt silent.
