[Jake's POV]
The penthouse was completely silent when I keyed the security code and stepped through the heavy steel door. The storm was still raging outside, the rain hammering against the panoramic glass, but inside, the air was thick, warm, and heavy with anticipation.
I shrugged off my soaked tactical jacket, dropping it onto the marble floor, and unholstered the suppressed USP, setting it carefully on the entryway console. I was drenched, my tailored suit clinging to my skin, my hair plastered to my forehead.
"Noah."
The voice came from the master bedroom at the end of the hall. It wasn't a question. It was a summons.
I walked slowly down the corridor, the adrenaline of the strike fading, replaced by a dark, primal heat that coiled low in my stomach. I pushed the bedroom door open.
