"Pilot, land us to where you think is safe," Marcus ordered.
"Copy sir, landing on the clearest patch I can find," the pilot replied.
The helicopter adjusted its course.
From above, the city of Felsis came into full view.
Smoke rose from multiple points, thick and dark, spreading across rooftops and streets. Some areas were still burning. Others had already been reduced to charred remains.
"…That's bad," Liora said quietly.
Selene didn't respond. Her eyes were fixed on the damage below.
Kael clicked his tongue.
"…We're late."
Seraphine remained focused.
"…No," she said. "We're still in time."
Marcus leaned slightly forward, scanning the ground.
"Keep distance from the main city," he added.
"Understood," the pilot replied.
The helicopter began descending.
The ground grew closer.
Buildings passed beneath them, then gave way to a wider clearing just outside the main district. A stretch of land that looked mostly untouched by the flames.
