Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 Fremen

On Arrakeen, Paul borded the Ornithopter wearing a stillsuit on his body, Thufir followed in silence.

Inside Duncan was already in the passenger seat waering a stillsuit ready to take off.

Sitting on the seats, the wings of the Ornithopter began to move lifting of the rocky ground it began rising higher into the sky.

Inside.

Paul leaned back on the chair as he removed the mask of the stillsuit and glanced ahead.

Thufir was silent for a few moments as his eyes shifted towards Paul for a moment.

He thouhgt for a moment before he spoke.

"Duke Paul..." Thufir hesitated for a moment.

"What is the plan?" He asked.

Paul glanced at him and nodded.

"I want to reach cooperation with the Northern Sietches, I want to offer them stbaility in exchange for... well coming under House Atreides" Paul said.

Thufir was silent for a few moments.

"That is ambitious... you will face resistence," Thufir said and Paul nodded.

"It is expected... but there are gonna be a few groups within the Sietches that will choose to join,"

"Slight issues I have meaning to consult with you is about the location, costs etc,"

Thufir frowned a little as his eyes flashed white for several moments before returning to normal.

"Paul there is a few issues." Thufir said as he saw a certain familiar glint in Pauls eyes.

Paul glanced towards THufir and instantly understand what Thufir wanted to talk about.

"I know, of course, we cannot do this immediately, this is a long term project once spice production is running" Paul said and Thufir nodded as turned to look ahead.

The Ornithopters wings flapped as it cut throuhg the winds of Arrakis heading towarfs the Noerthern Sietches Council meeting locations.

...

In the council room.

There were six chairs and five of them had familiar faces seted on it.

Stilgar.

Arak'Numi.

Naib Majes.

Naib Inal.

Naib Rauth.

Kynes.

The Sixth chair had been intended for Duke Leto.

But a few days ago they had recived news of Duke Leto's death and the person who will be attending will be his son, the new Duke of House Atreides, Paul Atreides, the suspected Lisan al'Gaib.

Naib Majes held a strict frown on his face, he was very displeased at the moment.

Stilgar sat patiently for the arrival of Paul but Naib Inal was not so patient as he slammed his fist on the stone table.

"This is absurd, why must we wait for them" Inal said, he did not get a answer or he did he expect one, he was merely voicing out his impatience.

The sounds of the ornithopther were getting closer however signifying Pauls arrival.

"Must we really test him?" Arak'Numi asked but recived a stern glare from Naib Majes.

Outside the closed off coucil room, The Ornithopther landed and Paul stepped out with his mask secured to his face yet he did not wear a hood to protect himself from the high noon sun when it was supposed to be at its strongest.

He had noticed this since he arrived on Arrakis.

The more he exposed himself to the sun, the more resistant he became.

And this process always one thing.

Paul felt whatever was inside quietly moving within.

He did not know what it was doing on his face.

But without fail.

He would get more resistent to the sun everytime.

He stood in the sun for a moment longer and at this point, he barely felt the burning heat on him anymore.

His eyebrows were clenched, underneath the mash he held a deep frown.

He could not even find and identify what was in him.

For the moment he could only set that to the back of mind as he stepped forward on the sand.

He was quick as he arrived towards the rocky hill that seemed empty.

Duncan and Thufir quitly followed.

They walked into the opening but the entire structure was silent.

Not one single sound to be heard other then the whooshing of the strong winds of Arrakis.

Their footsteps exhoed in the cavern like structure.

Stopping in the center, Paul glanced around for a few moments but remained unmoving.

THe moment of silence stretched for several moments, but Thufir nor Duncan utter a word.

A Fremen dropped from above and lands directly in front of Paul.

The action did not last longer then a moment, no sound emmited as well.

Duncan immeidately reached for his blade but Paul raised his hand and stopped Duncan from moving.

Paul felt the sharpness of the crysknie pressing against his skin bu the did not move.

He also recognised the person holding the knife against his thrat however.

Althouhg her face was covered, Paul could see who it was.

He was quiet as he stared at her for several moments.

FInally she pulled her knife away from his throat and took a step back.

"Please follow me" Chani said.

Her eyes betrayed no emptions staring at Paul.

She turned around and quietly began to lead Paul towards the council room.

Several momments passed as Paul, THufir and Duncan navigated throuhg before they reached a natural opening in between this rocky structure.

Seeing the people there Paul immeidately recognized Stilgar, Arak'Numi and Kynes.

All eyes in the room shifted towards Paul as he noticed the sixth empty chair.

"Welcome, Duke Paul" Kynes greeted, "Have a seat" She said pointing towards the sixth chair.

Paul nodded and approached the chair and sat on it.

HIs eyes flashed towards the Naibs but none of them spoke to him.

They all quietly observed Paul and Paul obserserved them.

FInnally Paul spat on the ground.

"We appreciate for the gift of your body's moisture, we accept it in the spirit in which it was given," Stilgar said as he spat back on the desk.

Kynese and Arak'Numi followed Stilgar.

Naib Rauth hesitated for a moment before he too spat on the floor.

Naib Majes and Naib Inal however were refused to spit as they stared at Paul in silence.

'Okay... I dont know these new faces, but they dont seem to like me too much' Paul thought to himself as looked at Majes and Inal.
