Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: The Defective Three-Headed Bird

"The gene serum of the three-headed bird Pokémon—Dodrio, combined with the gene serum of the evolved Pokémon—Eevee. The sacred plan for Test Subject No. 0 will definitely succeed!"

The gray-haired young man once again extracted gene serum from the terrified Dodrio. Afterward, he turned and left without even glancing at the collapsed Dodrio. In the gray-haired young man's eyes, Dodrio was nothing more than an insignificant tool within his sacred plan. He would never 'grant' even the slightest trace of mercy.

(It hurts so much… I might as well just…)

Dodrio's gaze gradually dimmed, no longer holding any spark of the will to live. Its struggling body slowly came to a halt…

Seeing this, Jolteon desperately cried out, trying to pull Dodrio back from the depths of despair. Jolteon wanted Dodrio to witness the beauty that still existed in this world and did not want it to leave with hatred in its heart.

Having obtained two bottles of gene serum, the gray-haired young man quickly began his research. He frantically controlled the laboratory's machinery, executing the birth plan for Test Subject No. 0.

The progress bar of the genetic experiment soon appeared before him. On the computer screen, it slowly began advancing from 1%.

The gray-haired young man took a deep breath and slowly gazed upward. His eyes revealed endless madness. He intended to artificially create a brand-new lifeform—one that would possess both the appearance and strength of a Legendary Pokémon, perhaps even surpassing them in power and terror.

The plan for the birth of Test Subject No. 0 had never been reported to Giovanni—not by the gray-haired young man, nor by the mysterious master behind him. Clearly, they did not want Team Rocket to obtain this information ahead of time.

At that moment, Red and Thousand-Year Gengar arrived in front of a sealed laboratory door. Just standing outside, both Red and Thousand-Year Gengar faintly sensed an uneasy aura. Clearly, the place Red sought lay beyond this door.

"There's no time to waste. Let's get in."

Just as Thousand-Year Gengar was about to use Shadow Punch to destroy the door, Red beside him directly formed an Aura Sphere. With a single Aura Sphere, the iron door in front of them shattered instantly, leaving Thousand-Year Gengar completely dumbfounded.

(Wasn't I supposed to be the Pokémon here?)

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up." Seeing Thousand-Year Gengar frozen in place, Red urged him.

"Oh, oh, coming boss." Thousand-Year Gengar snapped out of it and quickly followed Red.

After breaking into the laboratory, they found numerous experimental devices and strange chemical reagents scattered everywhere. From time to time, peculiar gases drifted through the air, making people instinctively frown.

Upon seeing Red arrive, Jolteon cried out excitedly.

Seeing this, Red immediately ordered Thousand-Year Gengar to rescue Jolteon from the mechanical arms restraining it. Meanwhile, Red ran to Dodrio's side and used Power of Viridian to heal it, soothing Dodrio's despairing heart.

"So you're Team Rocket's Professor Hemlock?"

Red looked at the gray-haired young man wearing a worn-out white lab coat. He was slightly surprised by how young Professor Hemlock appeared.

"You could say that… or you could say not." The gray-haired young man replied calmly, unwilling to explain his identity further. The voice coming from his throat carried a mechanical tone, clearly a deliberate method of disguising his real voice.

"Don't worry, I didn't do anything to that little fellow." The gray-haired young man said leisurely.

"Research on Test Subject No. 2 was finished long ago. I merely needed to extract the gene serum inside its body that can stabilize three attributes."

"You're explaining things to us so kindly… which probably means you're planning to do something next, right?" Red said coldly.

Beside him, Thousand-Year Gengar condensed a Shadow Ball between his hands and directly attacked the gray-haired young man.

Just when Red expected the gray-haired young man to dodge, the man slowly raised his left hand—and something bizarre happened.

The gray-haired young man's left hand rapidly transformed into a giant pincer. The pincer emitted a white glow and actually used Metal Claw to block the Shadow Ball attack, then casually tossed it upward to disperse the damage.

After neutralizing Thousand-Year Gengar's Shadow Ball, the gray-haired young man's giant pincer slowly reverted back into a human left hand. But Red had already clearly recognized its origin—that was the weapon of a Kingler!

"You… are you actually a Pokémon?!" Red raised his eyebrow in surprise. However, he quickly calmed the agitation in his heart. The transformation on the gray-haired young man's body filled Red with immense curiosity.

"You don't need to concern yourself with what kind of creature I am. As long as you dare interfere with my master's plan, I will show no mercy." The gray-haired young man sneered.

He suddenly smashed the glass cover beside him and activated a red switch marked as extremely dangerous.

Immediately, alarms began blaring throughout the laboratory. From the fourth level below, the sound of machinery operating faintly echoed, as if some creature was about to break out of its cage.

"Although Test Subject No. 0 hasn't been born yet, the current defective product should still be enough to make you suffer a bit." The gray-haired young man laughed wickedly.

"Boss, something's approaching." Thousand-Year Gengar warned.

"Don't worry. My Aura abilities have already locked onto it. But this aura isn't something a normal creature could possess. It feels more like… some kind of fusion monster?" Red guessed.

The gene serum from Dodrio—which possessed three heads that could coexist—combined with the gene serum from the modified Eevee capable of adapting to Fire-type, Water-type, and Electric-type attributes. The gray-haired young man's plan gradually became clear in Red's mind.

"You bastard… are you trying to clone and stitch together the genes of the three Legendary Birds?!" Red shouted angrily.

Genetic cloning experiments were strictly prohibited by the League. Yet evil organizations still continued researching them. Mewtwo—the Legendary Pokémon that should never have existed—was born precisely because of human greed.

A strange aura spread upward from below. The floor was suddenly smashed open by an unknown creature. Immediately afterward, flames, ice, and lightning appeared before Red's eyes.

"Is that supposed to be the three Legendary Birds? That's clearly just Dodrio's body with the heads of the three Legendary Birds forcibly attached!" Thousand-Year Gengar exclaimed.

The cloned creature appearing before Red was merely a defective product made from a discarded prototype. Its body had no wings and thus could not fly. It could only walk on two legs like Dodrio. Yet the three completely irrational heads were enough to send chills down anyone's spine.

This defective creature couldn't even be defined as a Pokémon. It was nothing more than a beast driven purely by instinct and desire!

"Complete the last mission of your existence, Three-Headed Bird!" the gray-haired young man laughed wildly.

The controller in his hand emitted a strange soundwave. Upon hearing it, the Three-Headed Bird reacted instantly. Three heads and six eyes stared viciously at Red and the two Pokémon.

"I suddenly don't feel very well mentally…" Thousand-Year Gengar muttered nauseously.

Even a Gengar that had lived for a thousand years felt disgusted by the appearance of the Three-Headed Bird. This kind of forcibly stitched-together clone existed purely to disgust opponents and disturb their emotions, making it impossible for them to remain calm.
