Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Is this my regret?

Caesar opened his eyes to a scene of black, he even questioned if he had opened his eyes at all.

"How long has it been now I can't tell, I can't see a thing, is it the same for everyone else…

It feels like i'm falling and sinking at the same time, but I'm definitely standing on something ground? I can't say.

And when I totter I make no progress, forward, backward? Left or right I can't say.

I'm not used to being this unsure for this amount of time, but there is nothing here to break my calm.

She said to 'face our regrets', if taken literally I don't think I have any, if anything comes close it'd be that.

But does that count?" He thought to himself.

His body jolted up, he was lying on a very spacious bed, in a very spacious and luxurious room.

Caesar held his chest tightly, his face looked like he had just woken up from a dream "This is…it's that day isn't it.

May 29th, two days before the the events of the fourth sector."

Caesar opened the windows, the night was bright the moon was about to complete its cycle.

Outside the window was a large piece of land with a mountain behind and around.

"The same view as usual, I was a bit thirsty…" Caesar thought as he walked to the door.

{I woke up quite early that day earlier than I usually}

[Tick tock] The clock's hand was at 2:43 am.

He walked down a hallway. "That noise, it's father speaking, I was quite shocked when I overheard it at that time.

Eavesdropping on things was something I had come to learn, so naturally I placed my ear on the door.

I thought maybe mother was in his quarters, but that was not the case." He listened in on the conversation.

"...Just leave it to me, I promise you it won't fail your majesty." An unknown male voice said.

The voice sounded mature, with a touch of elegance.

"So many others have tried raising those walls, what makes you think you it will succeed this time.

I invited you in when I saw your letter, but we've strayed so far from that topic now let's just leave it at this.

You may take your le-" The king's voice resounded in the thick of the night.

"Just trust me on this one thing, nothing will go wrong." The man replied.

"..." The king remained silent.

"I can see you're still doubtful so think about it this way, it's win-win;

If you fail but make an attempt, the people will say you tried, their trust for you will increase.

And if you succeed the people will sing your praises, they will revere you even more than-" He was interrupted by the king.

"Don't mention his name, your words have swayed me already...now, how do we go on with it?" The king asked.

"We set off in eight days or nine, and you announce it in five days doesn't that sound good enough"

"My God..., the voice just said something to me." The man said.

"And what did it say?" The king asked curiously.

"That there's a rat behind the doors" The voice said.

"That's not good, is it one of the kids or maybe a guard.

I'll go check it now." The king said.

"No, just leave it to me"

"I knew this would happen, I could easily leave the door now, but what would be the point if the event has already occurred." Caesar took a deep breathe.

He stood outside the door waiting for the events to play out as they did in reality.

[Unlocking noises] The door was opened slowly.

"But still, nothing could've made me expect this moment back then." Caesar looked at the person whose figure was now visible.

"He looked familiar but I couldn't tell, that was the little regret I got from this situation, and it blossomed even more recently.

The fact that maybe knowing his identity would help us in some way, especially now that we need all the information we could get." Caesar thought as he stared at the man.

His hair colour was unknown, but the mark on his chin was visible — he was a noble, he also had a smile on his face, and had a squared jaw.

He looked at Caesar for a while then gestured him to leave with his palm.

"Back then I wondered why he did what he did, even now I still do." The door shut in front of Caesar.

"Who was the rat?" The king asked.

The unknown man chuckled.

"I had thought the same your majesty but it looks like it was an actual rat haha…" he replied.

"A rat in my quarters? That's even worse somehow..."

The world fade to fade into black for Caesar again, but this time he felt like he was sinking into the bottom of a deep ocean.

"It's suffocating, but it's not uncomfortable…is this another play of her's? [1]

Is she taking us to another space, or is it another one of my memories It's impossible to know.

But as she said it was quite easy, unlike what I expected from her title her trial didn't have anything to do with insanity.

Are the other commandments like that, we don't know, currently 'maybe' is the only definite answer.

What is that light…" White light was piercing through the water, and even noticeable to Caesar's closed eyes as it pierced through his eyelids.

Caesar's body floated up through shallow water of the white space.

He opened his eyes and jolted his upper body upwards. [Huff huff] He breathed hardly and coughed out water.

He looked in front him and he could see thirteen doors in front of him all chained, then he looked at his hand.

"What's the use of this?" There was a small picture frame with no picture in it. "If these are the doors, then!"

He turned around and he saw Heimer walking towards him.

"So you were the next person to pop out of the ground." Heimer said.

"Third?

Who were the others." Caesar asked.

"We'll look for yourself" Heimer said as he pointed to were the others were standing.

Amongst the other commanders were Karius and Clarence whom were having a conversation with Karius's palms full of ash.

And there was Rud whom could be seen talking to Paul, with Rud holding a picture frame as empty as Caesar's.

"Don't you mean four?" Caesar said to his uncle.

"How so?" Heimer asked.

[1] He's referring to the baroness of insanity
