Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: From pillar to pole.

All the doors in the white space gradually vanished into obscurity, not even a silhouette of what was remained.

The ground started rumbling beneath, nearly offsetting their balance, and yet there was still no sign of Leo nor Fiona.

"What's going on!" Clarence lowered her body to maintain balance from the strong rumbling. "Dan!" She called out.

He held her hands tightly with his composure still there as the rumbling settled down.

"What is it this time!" Heimer frowned as he told through the trembling space. "Where are you kiddo."

Ren tapped on Heimer's shoulder calling to his attention "Father…" He raised his head up directing Heimer's gaze to what was occurring above them.

The top of the space started crumbling before their very eyes, like glass being shattered with only black remaining.

"I don't think this place will hold much longer, are we trapped inside?" Ren looked panicked, how could he not be.

"No…it makes no sense that we would be trapped, how then would we go through to the next commandments." Heimer said.

"..." Ren was silent. "And what if it needs new people for each commandment?

What would you say about that, maybe new awakened ones appear, I don't know.

Or maybe none at all to make their descent a certainty, at that point I fear what would become of earth." Ren had lost hope.

Heimer turned to look at his son, "I can't argue with logic like that, but we can't be certain about these things." Heimer folded his hands.

The space kept on ripping, with panic rising in accordance, light blended in with darkness as the space ripped apart.

Heimer removed his helmet and rubbed his eyes, what was occurring on was too good to be true, his eyes glinted of hope and a gentle smile arose.

"Ren, are you seeing this." Heimer looked at his son's face. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing!" He had an outburst of joy.

Mumurs arose with the reason being a door manifesting, the same one that had brought joy to Heimer's face.

It was presumably an exit but what other choice did they have but to take this chance.

Heimer opened the door and at the other side was a clear night, it was the world they came from.

-

"One by one! Out! Out! Out…" Heimer rushed them out, one by one they left the space.

(Out…out…out) Heimer's voice echoed in Zefroth's ears.

[Rumble] The ground shook once more.

"Fiona where are you?!" Zefroth had been waiting for so long, her patience had slowly worn off.

She looked up and the space ripped even faster than before, they had no time to spare, yet still no sign of her friend.

"White one, What's the hold up, go out now!

Cee! you too." Heimer urged Zefroth.

Her brows nearly joined, the expression was a sad one. "But sir! Fiona is still in there!

Leo as well." Zefroth exclaimed.

"I'm here for the same reason, we can't just leave them behind uncle." sweat ran through the face of Caesar.

"Just leave now, we don't have much time look around you!" Heimer referred to the space whose rip was closing in on them. "What are you guys waiting for!"

Zefroth was reluctant, she looked at the floor intently like Fiona would manifest from nothing if she stared long enough.

"Move out, that's an order." Heimer said with stone cold eyes.

"But uncl-" Caesar meant to speak but was interrupted by Heimer.

"Rule number one?" Heimer asked.

Caesar bent his head down. "Obey the chain of command." His voice was sullen yet he knew what to do.

"Zefroth, do you have your gift activated?" Caesar walked up to her and asked.

"No, my head has been hurting since earlier." She replied.

"Good" Caesar muttered with a determined yet regretful look.

"Hey what?!" Zefroth was dragged by the arm by Caesar as he dragged her towards the door.

"(Caesar leave me alone)" Her voice echoed, but Caesar's attention was in another place.

He and Heimer shared a stare as he walked past, with Heimer uttering the words "I'm not coming out without them." Heimer made a vow.

"I was so confident that I had no regret just for my next major decision to lead me to one." Caesar thought as he stepped out of the door.

They were finally out of the pathway and reunited with the others.

"Where's Heimer?" Lana asked.

Caesar let go of Zefroth then turned around to look at the door.

From their perspective all they could see was the white pillar of light shrinking, with nothing like a door there.

"He's still inside…" Caesar replied.

The space kept ripping by this time it was nearly upon the surface of the white space with Heimer waiting for the two of them.

Now a body surfaced through the ground — Fiona's, she coughed uncontrollably with Heimer having to help her up.

"Look at the state of her, It's a miracle that she can even stand." Heimer thought as he looked at her condition; broken armour, with cuts and bruises all over her.

"Through the door." He pointed and she followed, with some limps she was out of the space.

Zefroth held Fiona's palms tightly. "What happened to you back there, you had me worried."

"The slab... I barely…" she was out of breath and at the same time interrupted by Caesar.

"What of Leo?" Caesar stepped forward and asked her.

"Leo?" She said faintly with her legs nearly giving in, Fiona turned around to look at the light.

Everyone stared at it watching as it gradually shrunk from a pillar to nearly a pole.

"Heimer…" Lana muttered with her hands atop her chest, and a tensed face.

Ren looked at her, then at the light again; he was afraid of the possibility of loss, but he was thinking it, the same thing Lana was thinking and everyone else was.

"I'm afraid Heimer and the won't make it" Gustev muttered their collective thought out, some eyes glared at him but his words rung true.

The pole became a line and that too was about to become a thread of light, it was well and truly over…

[Gasps]

The thread was to return to nothingness but it expanded like a fissure with a leg stepping through it, the figure was one that couldn't be mistaken.

It was Heimer carrying Leo on his shoulders, and as he came out the fissure closed and vanished into obscurity.
