Chapter 232 - Chapter 232: Entering Slaughter City

Hearing the man's inquiry, Gu Xuan did not act like Tang Hao in the original story by ordering a Bloody Mary. Instead, he spoke softly to Dugu Yan, "The people here are basically fugitives, and every one of them has blood on their hands. If you don't like it, it doesn't matter if you kill them all."

A joyful smile appeared on Dugu Yan's face. She had long been unable to restrain herself because the gazes of the people here were disgusting.

"Kill us? Just based on you two wet-behind-the-ears brats?"

"Jie jie jie, I think this woman is quite good. Why don't you let us take care of her for you!"

As soon as Gu Xuan finished speaking, various filthy and disdainful voices filled the tavern. Those drinkers seemed to have found an outlet for their suppressed emotions and launched a verbal attack directly at Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan.

The waiter in black who had just spoken also said coldly, "If you provoke them, even I can't save you. You..."

Before the man could finish, Dugu Yan let go of Gu Xuan's arm and took two steps forward, arriving in front of the waiter.

As Dugu Yan moved, six soul rings—two yellow, one purple, and three black—rose around her body. However, Dugu Yan did not activate her Martial Soul possession. Her second yellow soul ring lit up, and she opened her mouth slightly, spitting a cloud of emerald-green toxic mist directly at the waiter.

When the others present saw Dugu Yan's shocking configuration of six soul rings, the noisy voices stopped abruptly in an instant.

"A Soul Emperor? A ten-thousand-year fourth soul ring?!"

Just as their exclamations were voiced, the emerald toxic mist enveloped the entire tavern. In just a split second, everyone was reduced to a pool of pus, leaving only Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan standing there.

Dugu Yan covered her nose in disgust and said flatly, "So sickening!"

This was Dugu Yan's first time killing, so feeling disgusted was normal, but she felt no psychological burden from killing these people.

Then Dugu Yan turned to look at Gu Xuan and asked, "But since we killed them, how do we find the entrance to Slaughter City?"

Gu Xuan smiled slightly and walked slowly to the tavern's bar. After glancing at it, he raised his hand and slammed a palm heavily onto the bar counter.

With a thunderous crash, the bar shattered into flying fragments, revealing the floor beneath.

Still smiling, Gu Xuan said to Dugu Yan, "Isn't this the entrance?"

Dugu Yan was somewhat surprised. Even she hadn't known a mechanism was hidden under the bar. She hadn't expected Gu Xuan to have already detected it.

Although it looked like an ordinary floor, once Dugu Yan heard Gu Xuan's words, her mental power swept over it and found the clue; the area below was hollow.

Then Gu Xuan slowly raised his right foot, condensed his soul power upon it, and slammed it down like a heavy hammer.

With a loud boom, a huge hole appeared in the ground, and a chilly wind blew up from the tunnel below.

Gu Xuan reached out a hand to hold Dugu Yan's soft hand and said, "This is our new beginning. Are you afraid?"

Dugu Yan shook her head. As long as she followed Gu Xuan, she would dare to venture even into hell. "I'm not afraid!"

The two smiled at each other and leaped down without hesitation, jumping into the darkness of the floor. Their bodies were instantly surrounded by blackness as they vanished within.

Plunging into the darkness, they fell only a few meters before Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan hit solid ground. They didn't need light; with their current mental power, they could see everything clearly in the dark.

This was a long corridor extending downward at a slope. Chilly air constantly brushed against their bodies. The two looked at each other and strode forward without hesitation.

When Gu Xuan took his nine hundred and ninety-ninth step, a cold voice suddenly came from all directions, "Welcome to Slaughter City. This is the capital of hell, a world filled with slaughter. Here, you can obtain everything you want, but the price is your life."

Hearing this voice, Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan did not pause for a second, continuing their steady advance.

Turning a corner, a faint light appeared ahead. After walking dozens of meters more, the brightness expanded in their eyes. It was an open gateway. On the other side of the gate, there were signs of life.

Striding forward, noisy sounds drifted in. When Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan exited the corridor, one hundred and one people appeared before them.

All were dressed in black armor, even their faces completely hidden by helmets. One hundred of them held heavy swords, while only one sat atop a tall warhorse. The horse was also covered in thick black armor.

"You have violated the rules." The low voice sounded extremely cold, as if it weren't coming from a human mouth.

The one speaking was the black-armored knight on horseback.

However, neither Gu Xuan's nor Dugu Yan's gaze lingered on him; they looked past him toward his back.

It was a black city. The thick black city walls were extremely wide. Above the city, a purple moon actually hung in the sky. The moon was very low, appearing to be less than five hundred meters from the ground. Looking further up, everything was black, existing like an eternal night.

It exuded only endless loneliness and coldness.

Withdrawing his gaze, Gu Xuan looked at the black-armored knight and said calmly, "What happens if we violate the rules?"

The black-armored knight's voice remained icy, devoid of any human warmth, as he said deeply, "Violating the rules requires punishment. Defeat me, and you will earn the right to enter Slaughter City."

Gu Xuan said nothing, but Dugu Yan had already raised her slender finger.

The long knight's lance in the black-armored knight's hand was slowly raised. The black-armored warriors on both sides receded, revealing an open space.

"I am Terror Knight Scott!"

The warhorse suddenly accelerated. The black-armored knight, carrying a tragic aura, charged straight at Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan.

A cold atmosphere pervaded as a stern, killing intent rushed at them from the front.

From the moment they entered the corridor, Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan discovered that their soul rings could no longer be released, as if they were sealed.

But although soul rings couldn't be used, soul power remained.

An emerald-green toxic needle had already condensed on Dugu Yan's slender finger. As Terror Knight Scott charged on his heavy armored warhorse, the tiny toxic needle plunged into the center of his brow without any warning.

The warhorse did not stop its charge, but by the time it reached Dugu Yan, there was a puddle of thick liquid on its path. Only a set of black armor remained on the horse.

Terror Knight Scott had been turned into a pool of pus by the poison.

When the warhorse was about to collide with Dugu Yan, Gu Xuan's sturdy and powerful arm reached out from behind her. His palm transformed into a silver-white bone claw, seizing the warhorse's head.

The horse's head was gripped by Gu Xuan, and even the iron armor upon it deformed. The horse didn't even let out a cry before the bone claw let go. The horse had lost all life, returning to hell along with its master.

The surrounding black-armored soldiers couldn't help but gasp at this scene. Their original indifference vanished instantly; they were also human and could feel fear.

Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan ignored them. Dugu Yan leaned on Gu Xuan's arm, and the two strolled leisurely toward that purple moon, their figures gradually disappearing beneath the black city.
