Without a word, Aiden wrapped his arms around Alisha, pulling her close. The action took her by surprise, and her heart notably calmed down. She pulled him even harder, as if trying to become one.
"You have suffered a lot," he whispered, stroking her head.
Aiden's voice was full of sincerity. If not for the twisted smile on his face, he could have fooled even himself.
