"Why weren't you looking where you were going? How long were you planning to daydream?" The driver of the red sedan got out to settle the score, while Tongjai was being supported by Teacher. "How are you going to take responsibility for this? My car is all scratched up. Do you have any idea how much this car costs?"
"Sir, could you please calm down? Before blaming her, you should at least ask if she's okay. Besides, you were the one who swerved into her," Teacher negotiated calmly, which completely contrasted with her usually hot-headed personality.
"I didn't swerve! This girl was the one who drifted into my car. How are you going to pay for this? A paint job isn't cheap, you know."
"Don't be so selfish. You're clearly in the wrong. Are you really trying to dodge responsibility?" she shot back. Meanwhile, Jao Peem pulled Tongjai behind him as a crowd began to gather, filming the scene on their phones.
"And what business is it of yours? I want to talk to that girl." Even though I didn't like Tongjai, I really felt like kicking this guy in the teeth right about now. "Do you even know who my father is?"
"I'm not one of your ancestors, so I don't care who the hell you are. And I have every right to get involved because this girl is my student. If you can't talk like a civilized human being, let's just settle this at the police station."
That's the spirit, wet nurse! I could tell her patience was wearing thin.
"A teacher? Just some low-level teacher making a few thousand a month." He looked at her with pure contempt, stepping closer. "Move! I'm going to talk to this little brat."
He shoved my wet nurse so hard she stumbled back several steps. His language was foul—completely at odds with his polished outfit.
"Oh! If you're gonna act like a piece of shit, then I'll treat you like one, you Dick!"
Fill in the blanks, folks. The crowd only heard her shout "Oh!", but for the rest? If you weren't standing as close as I was, you wouldn't have heard a thing. That was enough to set the guy off; he marched toward her with clenched fists, looking downright terrifying.
My wet nurse raised her arms to shield her face (though, if you ask me, it looked more like a performance). But before things could escalate any further, the police arrived on the scene.
I caught a tiny smirk playing on the corner of her lips.
"Officer, I was just trying to negotiate with him, but he wouldn't listen and tried to assault me. I even have dashcam footage proving he's the one at fault," she said, her voice shifting into that sweet, innocent tone.
Wow. Just... wow. The contrast between this and the way she was arguing seconds ago is insane. Maybe I should give her a new moniker?
The Wicked Wife of the Minister!
"Let me go! Do you even know who my father is!?" Here we go again. You're about to get wrecked, you spoiled brat.
"Please come to the station to give your statement," the officer said to my teacher, while that guy kept resisting, acting like a loose cannon and trying to get in my stepmom's face.
"I'm not in the wrong! This girl scratched my car. She's the one who needs to pay for the damages!" He's still trying to talk his way out of it.
"Let's settle this at the station, sir," the officer replied calmly.
"Fine! But you'll soon realize you picked the wrong person to mess with." Oh, please. Does he think he's untouchable or something? "And as for you, you crazy teacher—I'm suing you for defamation!"
"Be my guest, 'Golden Boy.' Let's clear this up at the station. I'm not in the wrong, so I have nothing to fear. I have all the evidence I need. And I don't care how powerful you think you are—I'm not letting you get away with this."
She spoke with absolute confidence before turning to Tongjai. "Are you alright?"
Tongjai shook her head. A little pain isn't going to kill her. "Thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, I would've been in real trouble."
"It's okay. Can you walk? Jao Peem, help her into the car."
He was already doing it before she even finished her sentence. Why the hell am I getting so annoyed seeing him touch her?
