Chapter 49 - Sorry for the noise

"There were some minor issues, and I truly apologize for the inconvenience, Sir. I'll make sure it never happens again." That Net-Abhor-Sorn woman rushed over, bowing and scraping with apologies. Is it really that big of a deal? It was only five minutes!

"It's fine," my Minister replied. He climbed into the car, with beautiful Ms. Net-Apsorn practically glued to his side. Isn't that seat supposed to be mine?

"Khun Tim, you can sit back here," she gestured toward the back seat of the van, arranging everything for me. She's acting like I'm not even here. 'I'm his secretary, not you!' I complained loudly with my eyes, since I couldn't exactly be rude enough to roll them in front of everyone.

"Do you visit this country often, Sir?" she asked.

"This is my second time. The first was with friends." Oh, look at him, being all polite! Why is it that when he's with his wife, he always uses that stern, bossy tone?

"I've been living here for five years now. I've been thinking about going back to work in Thailand; nowhere else feels like home, don't you agree?" Just stay here, Net-Apsorn. There's no need to show your face back home.

"I agree. I think our country is the best, whether it's the food, the culture, or the kind-hearted people."

Liars! Sir, did you forget about the education system you're responsible for? Or the politics that are barely clinging to life? The reason we haven't developed anywhere is because of terrible politicians who embezzle and mismanage the country!

"Where are you from originally, Sir? Sorry if I'm being too inquisitive."

"Just call me by my name. I don't like being called 'Sir.' I'm from Bangkok."

Even as his wife, I've never asked him that, Net-Apsorn!

"Then, if you'll allow me, I'll call you Khun Nin."

Ugh... look at her acting all shy. Khun Net, they didn't send you here to flirt! Do you see his wife sitting right back here? Argh! I feel like declaring my status right now!

"Feel free," my man actually went along with it. "There's a vacancy in the Ministry. You should try applying. The position for International Coordinator should suit your 'disposition' perfectly."

"Really? That sounds wonderful! I've been wanting to go back and care for my parents; they're getting old and I feel so sorry for them having to wait for me to visit. Since I don't have a boyfriend yet, going back to live with them means they won't be lonely."

What a bold move! Does my husband even realize he's being hit on right now?

"Ahem!" I cleared my throat loudly. The two of them, who were getting along so well, turned toward the back. "Sorry for the noise. I had fish this morning, and a bone got stuck in my throat. Khun Net, do you have any water?"

"I do, but I've already taken a sip. If you don't mind..."

"I do mind." I answered instantly, exactly what I was thinking. Khun Net's face went completely blank with shock. My dear husband gave me a stern look.
