Chapter 114 - Chapter 114: The Feather Preserved Within the Ancient Ruins

"What a terrifying suction force," Fang Yu said with a shocked expression.

He activated his Boots of Speed, his movement turning into afterimages as he began fleeing.

But as the waterspout continued forming, it gradually began covering the entire underground river region. Fang Yu had already ventured too deeply inside, and even with the Boots of Speed activated, he still failed to escape before the waterspout engulfed the entire underground river area.

Fang Yu frowned and condensed layers of Ice Walls to block the approaching waterspout.

However, the rapidly rotating waterspout shattered the Ice Walls into flying ice fragments the instant it touched them. The speed at which Fang Yu created Ice Walls was nowhere near enough to keep up with the waterspout destroying them.

"What the hell is this power?!" Fang Yu became even more alarmed. The walls he created possessed at least the defensive strength of Mid-Tier magic, yet they shattered the moment the tornado touched them. Just what kind of destructive force was this?!

Without slowing down in the slightest, the waterspout slammed directly into Fang Yu. It completely engulfed him.

At this critical moment, Fang Yu used every defensive method he had.

Little Snow Maiden merged with him as frost rapidly condensed. Frost-white and icy-blue ice crystals gathered together, forming a dual-colored suit of armor around his body.

He cast Void Wall, like a shell of moonlight peeled from a vast silver moon, radiating silver brilliance. The light formed a square-shaped spatial barrier that protected Fang Yu within it, yet it still could not withstand the continuous bombardment of the waterspout!

But as the waterspout's sweeping speed continued increasing and its range expanded further, Fang Yu's defenses gradually began to break apart.

Time passed. Fang Yu had no idea how long it had been. Inside the waterspout, although protected by defensive methods, his body continued spinning uncontrollably with the force of the winds, and even his consciousness began turning blurry.

Two hours later, the entire underground river was left in complete ruin before gradually returning to silence once more.

Half a day later.

"Cough cough… cough cough!!!"

Fang Yu woke up and coughed violently several times. After struggling to crawl out from the buried rubble, his entire body ached intensely, clearly having suffered injuries.

"Ying ying~~~~~"

Seeing Fang Yu awaken, Little Snow Maiden flew over beside him, scattering countless dazzling ice crystals while calling out with a wronged expression.

Fang Yu stroked Little Snow Maiden's tiny head and comforted her. "Alright, alright, I'm fine now."

After resting for a moment, Fang Yu raised his head and looked around, discovering he was in a dimly lit place.

Enduring his injured body, he used the ice crystals emitted by Little Snow Maiden as a source of light and slowly moved forward. He needed to find a way out of this dark place before he could return to the city for treatment.

Fang Yu advanced along the underground cavern. After walking for half an hour, he finally saw light ahead. But when he stepped out of the cave entrance, what appeared before him was not an exit, but an ancient ruin.

"This!" Fang Yu exclaimed in astonishment.

A vast ancient ruin lay sunken deep underground. Everywhere were stone carvings of bird-like creatures, and even the gray-white stone slabs beneath his feet were engraved with bird-shaped patterns. Yet after countless years of erosion, the rock carvings had shattered, leaving behind only broken walls and ruins, barely enough to determine their original appearance.

Above this ancient ruin was an unimaginable arc-shaped silver dome that firmly supported the entire underground space.

"A Space Element formation left behind by ancient people?" Fang Yu thought to himself.

At the center of the ancient ruins floated a single feather radiating waves of cyan light.

"A feather? Left behind by what kind of demon creature?"

From the moment he entered this place, Fang Yu had been filled with questions.

After resting briefly and replenishing some energy, Fang Yu began walking through the ancient ruins. He carefully observed the stone carvings and rock sculptures left behind by those from ancient times.

This place also reminded him of the items he had seen at the ancient city's exhibition hall. The same rock carvings, the same stone murals, how similar the two places were. It seemed the artifacts in the exhibition hall had been taken from here.

Not long after.

Fang Yu arrived at the center of the ruins, his eyes fixed tightly upon the cyan-glowing feather over half a meter long before him.

The feather resembled a scale, yet was as thin and light as a plume. It was like a feather-shaped scale, mysterious and seemingly possessing a magical attraction that drew people toward it.

Beneath the plume rested a damaged stone mural engraved with ancient images, though they were blurred and indistinct. Placed together with the plume, it likely served as an ancient relic recording information about it.

At times, the plume appeared dim and lifeless, yet at other times it radiated astonishing brilliance!

After sensing it carefully, Fang Yu discovered that it contained an unbelievably immense energy, though it flickered in and out unpredictably.

His eyes were filled with confusion. Driven by curiosity, he reached out and touched the plume.

And at that very moment, a sudden change occurred.

Fang Yu's mind suddenly trembled as an indescribable pressure abruptly spread out from the plume, covering the surroundings.

It was as though some colossal being hidden within the plume had released its aura.

Fang Yu was alarmed.

However, in the very next instant, the scene before him captured all of his attention.

Brilliant cyan light burst from the plume. Then strands of cyan flames slowly rose into the air before spreading throughout the surroundings.

"This is…?" Fang Yu widened his eyes as he stared at the slowly rising specks of cyan firelight.

Beautiful, dazzling, absolutely breathtaking!

Not long after, as the cyan flames continued spreading outward, they formed into a vast sea of fire stretching hundreds of meters wide.

At this moment, the ruins were entirely enveloped within its range.

The sounds of burning and trembling continuously echoed throughout the sea of fire, while violent gusts of wind roamed within it.

If that were all, it would have been one thing. But what truly shocked Fang Yu was what appeared within the sea of fire.

Vaguely, a phantom silhouette began to form. Its shape rapidly transformed from blurry to solid, gradually revealing the outline of a living creature.

The outline became clearer and clearer.

It was a crane-like being completely engulfed in cyan flames.

Within the flames, the color of its true body shone with dazzling cyan brilliance, so radiant that even the flames could not conceal it in the slightest. Its figure was elegant and graceful, and atop its head fluttered a long cyan plume swaying with the wind, filled with a sacred aura.

But the moment Fang Yu clearly saw its appearance, the crane-like creature suddenly lowered its head and looked toward him.

With that single glance, the vast sea of fire surrounding Fang Yu instantly surged upward. Flames soared into the heavens, storms rolled through the area, and the fire element suddenly became incredibly dense, as though it were being drawn together.

In the next moment.

The white crane, which illuminated the entire ruin in cyan flames, suddenly spread its wings and violently flapped them.

This was the first wingbeat!

A single flap of its wings triggered an eruption of the sea of fire. The flames surged wildly through the area and rushed toward the outside world.

This was the mystery behind the eruptions of the Dazu Rock Carvings' sea of fire, the source lay here.

No one knew how much time had passed. Amid the overwhelming turmoil in Fang Yu's heart, the cyan-white crane before him spread its wings for the second time.

This time, its speed was even faster, and the disturbance it unleashed was even more terrifying, causing the sea of fire to overturn violently.

Then, in the very next instant, within Fang Yu's perception, the white crane soaring higher and higher above the cyan ruins spread its wings once more for the third flap!
