He stood, towering over me.
"And they cannot touch you because taking what belongs to another god is an act of war." The unearthly glow of his eyes dimmed and flickered for a breath. "My father taught me that."
My hands trembled as I stared up at him.
He was going to bind me and there was nothing I could do to stop it because even Sylpha refused to help me.
"Sylpha, you cannot let this happen!" I screamed in my head, tears building behind my eyes, "I should get to go the way I want to. You cannot let this happen!"
But she remained silent, not acknowledging the panic that saturated every fiber of my being. I knew she could feel it where she existed within me.
Yet, she refused to intervene even though I knew she could.
Rafayel reached out, and I could do nothing but freeze as he wiped a tear off my cheek. His golden eyes searched my face even as he brought the tear to his lip and licked it off.
He let out a pleasured groan, eyes shutting for a second.
