Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: Flamebug

The Water Dragon Bullet crashed against the rapidly spinning Insect Wall, only to fruitlessly splash up large amounts of water and mist.

Inside the Insect Wall, the flickering firelight illuminated Miki's mask and robes, dyeing them crimson.

This technique was Miki's strongest defensive jutsu and also her strongest material destructive jutsu at the moment.

In reality, Shiyū's Flamebug were extremely terrifying.

Whether in defense or offense, they lived up to the claim of being able to contend with Susanoo.

The Flamebug themselves had a certain defense against various Earth Release, especially Fire Release.

They could bathe in Fire Release up to 3000 degrees Celsius.

And when a large number of Flamebug gathered together, a unique phenomenon occurred.

This phenomenon was called the 'thermosphere'.

At this moment, the rapidly spinning Insect Wall was enveloped by such an outer shell.

Heat was transmitted layer by layer to the top, where the temperature could reach as high as 6000 degrees Celsius.

This temperature was enough to instantly vaporize any Water Release.

And if the target was a person, the result was also instant vaporization.

Not even a speck of dust would remain.

Whether it was Earth Release, Wind Release, or Lightning Release, it was extremely difficult to break through this outer shell.

Lightning Release, in particular, would scatter and refract upon hitting this outer shell.

The larger the scale of the Parasitic Flame Bug swarm, the higher its average temperature; the more Chakra injected, the more significantly its temperature would rise, until it reached the critical point that the Flamebug could withstand.

But your big brother is always your big brother; Shiyū had the right to call his two younger brothers' insects flashy.

When the temperature rose to around a hundred degrees, Parasitic Minute Bugs could not survive.

Parasitic Giant Insects would also be cooked.

When the Flamebug truly showed their ferocious side, they became exceptionally terrifying.

Slug Sage had experienced this terror; it was the only time Miki had demonstrated the destructive power of the Flamebug.

But at that time, Miki didn't have enough Chakra to reveal their true horror.

Unlike the Parasitic Minute Bugs, which were already terrifying enough by their small size alone.

The Flamebug could only perfectly display their power with tons of Chakra.

Unfortunately, Shiyū was not a 'tons of Chakra' user, and the Flamebug' flight speed was not fast.

Shiyū had his solution for this flaw, and Miki also had her own solution.

Any problem that can be solved by spending Chakra is not a problem.

Under her mask, Miki opened her eyes.

The preparations were complete; the antibodies in White Fang's body were finished.

Immediately after, Miki clapped her hands, and a large amount of Chakra gathered in her mouth.

On her small tongue, the engraved Summoning Technique formula activated; this was a specialized mechanism prepared for Wind Release.

Miki's internal insect nest could not hold a massive swarm of Flamebug, so she had to use this clever method.

The summoning incantation climbed onto her mask, then extended into the air and spread out.

Taking advantage of the lull after a round of Water Release attacks, the Insect Wall dispersed, surrounding Miki like stars in the Milky Way, flickering with tiny crimson starlight.

Rain fell and evaporated, and the pervasive mist made the surroundings appear wonderfully like a fairyland.

These insects would serve as guards, blocking attacks for Miki at any time.

The surrounding Shinobi paused, becoming tense.

It's coming!

Attack!

Miki tilted her head slightly and spewed a secret technique downwards.

Insect Secret Technique: Great Crimson Annihilation Blast!

A crimson expanse instantly formed a crimson wave of fire hanging in the sky.

It poured down overwhelmingly, and as the surging beetles wriggled densely in the wind, they resembled rolling waves of flame.

And after this massive attack, Miki maintained her attacking posture, with storms and crimson star-points continuously surging out.

Then they melted.

First, the contacting buildings melted like butter when the crimson curtain of fire struck, followed by the Shinobi who couldn't escape in time, one by one melting into the tide and disappearing without a trace.

They couldn't even scream; their entire bodies vanished from the world without a trace.

Hanzo on the ground watched the massive curtain of fire descend, turned and fled without looking back.

After several Body Flicker Techniques, his figure quickly disappeared down the street.

Around him, many Shinobi were running for their lives in the rainy night.

If they didn't hurry, they probably wouldn't be able to escape the vast affected area.

On top of a distant spire, an old man with a Sharingan in the rain stood with his arms crossed, nodding approvingly: "Not bad, stronger than Shiyū."

Once the crimson tide hit the ground, a heavy roar spread outwards.

The ground turned into a crimson lake, and everything else vanished, melting into the swarm of insects that shimmered with a scarlet glow.

Only the tall tower where the technique was cast survived beneath Miki's feet, but it wouldn't last much longer; surrounded by the crimson lake, it was rapidly melting and sinking inch by inch from the bottom.

The surviving Shinobi on the tower looked in despair at the endless lake around them.

When they witnessed a Shinobi attempting to escape by stepping onto the lake's surface, only to start melting into the lake from their feet, some broke down and committed suicide on the spot, while many others could only wait for death to arrive in despair and numbness.

Miki exchanged the lives and Chakra of dozens of people for this magnificent sea of fire.

And beneath the lake, deep within the swarm, some cooked corpses still had use.

They had not melted; at Miki's instruction, the bodies were preserved.

Shiyū often cultivated Flamebug in this way on the battlefield, saving Chakra consumption.

But Miki didn't need to; for Miki, anyone's corpse was a resource.

This included the summoned insect swarm, which was also a source of Chakra.

Raising her hand, a swarm of Flamebug flew out from under her sleeve, carrying Slug eggs, and dropped into the lake.

It was still the Little Devil Slug.

It would devour the insect swarm, then divide and reproduce, producing and transmitting Chakra.

At the edge of the lake, a group of Shinobi, led by Hanzo, looked at the figure on the tall tower.

"Lord Hanzo?" a Shinobi asked from a distance, "What do we do now?"

What to do?

Run away?

Of course...

"Kill them!" Hanzo said coldly.

I will never run away!

Hanzo turned and ran towards the riverbank outside the village.

This terrain with abundant water was the most suitable battlefield.

Miki glanced in the direction Hanzo had left, leaped from the sinking spire, and landed on the crimson river surface. Before long, the river surface wriggled and spat out a package, and then, from the side, Hitomi's figure emerged.

"Next time, could you give a warning?" Hitomi complained, "So I can run faster."

"Hmm, next time for sure," Miki said, extending her hand. A purple Insects flew out from the package, landed on Miki's fingertip, and burrowed into her skin. A moment later, two Insects emerged.

They flew towards Hitomi and Chiri respectively.

"The antibodies are complete, and the area has been cleared. Hanzo probably won't send his subordinates to die in vain, so you can fight Hanzo to your heart's content," Miki said. "I'm not very good at taijutsu, so I'm probably not his match. I can only provide a little support."

"Understood," Hitomi and Chiri said simultaneously.

Miki looked at White Fang, who was wrapped up.

"Thank you for your hard work, Captain White Fang."

Upon hearing this, White Fang inside the biological steel managed a difficult smile.

"Captain, you'll have to keep working hard for a while longer," Miki said. "During the battle, I won't have time to look after you, Captain. When we retreat, we will take you with us."

White Fang wanted to say something, but his weak body couldn't even open his mouth.

"It seems Captain, you agree. Thank you for your hard work."

Miki said directly.

"Depart!"

With that, the three used Body Flicker Technique to pursue Hanzo.

White Fang opened his mouth wide, feeling himself constantly sinking, just like his current mood.
