Lucifer stepped out of the ruined cathedral.
The atmosphere of the underground fortress was rapidly changing. The death of the Legendary Lich broke the anchor holding the necrotic magic together.
The toxic green fog hovering over the lake thinned, then evaporated completely. The bubbling, acidic sludge on the water's surface settled, turning into a clear, still underground spring.
The green fire in the iron braziers sputtered and died. It was replaced by a soft, ambient silver glow radiating from the cavern walls.
Lucifer stood on the high balcony. He looked down into the fortress courtyard.
The Cultists were dead. The Cryo-Vanguard snipers had done their job perfectly. Bodies in dark green robes littered the stone pavement, frozen solid or shattered into pieces.
Lucifer raised his hand to his ear. He tapped his comms rune.
"Captain. Status report."
"Area secure, Warlord," the Captain's voice crackled instantly through the magical link. "The necromancers are eliminated. We held our fire on the Dark Elf guards as ordered. They are... reacting to the altar's destruction."
"I see them," Lucifer said.
He leaned over the bone railing. Down on the ramparts and the bridge, the Dark Elves were collapsing. The thick, black corruption that stained their skin was literally burning away. It peeled off their bodies like ash caught in a strong wind.
The Elves dropped their poisoned bows. They fell to their knees, clutching their heads and screaming as the necrotic sludge was forcibly purged from their mana veins. It was a violent, painful purification.
Slowly, the ash cleared. The dark skin faded, replaced by a pale, luminescent complexion. Their hair turned from pitch black to brilliant silver.
They were no longer Dark Elves. They were Star-Kissed.
The freed Elves looked at their hands in disbelief. They looked up at the shattered roof of the cathedral, tears streaming down their faces. The mind-control tethers were gone. They were awake.
A sudden, intense warmth flooded the cavern.
Lucifer looked up. A single, blinding beam of pure starlight pierced the solid rock of the cavern ceiling; it passed right through it, defying physical laws. The beam struck the balcony, bathing Lucifer in a warm, silver glow.
The air shimmered.
"You stayed your blade, Regressor." The Goddess's voice was a soft, ringing chime that echoed in his mind. "You shattered their chains. My children are returned to the light."
Lucifer stood tall in the column of starlight. He did not bow. "I kept my end of the bargain. I expect you to keep yours."
"I do not break my vows, Warlord of Obsidian. You have shown mercy to the stars. The stars shall grant you their strength. Walk in the dark without fear."
The beam of starlight collapsed inward. It shot directly into Lucifer's chest, merging with his Warlord core.
A wave of soothing, cool energy washed over his exhausted muscles. The minor corrosive burns on his armor healed instantly.
A brilliant, silver constellation etched itself into the back of his right hand, glowing faintly before fading into his skin.

Lucifer opened the skill description.

Lucifer closed the interface. It was a massive upgrade. The regeneration alone made him nearly unkillable in the dark.
Combined with his maxed-out Level 50 stats, the cosmic damage boost turned his standard sword swings into artillery strikes.
"The light favors you," Elara said.
She walked out onto the balcony, her boots crunching on the loose stone. She had wiped the dark frost from her silver armor. Her wings were folded tightly against her back, but the golden light radiating from her was steady and strong.
Sarah followed closely behind her.
The Star-Touched Oracle was physically exhausted. She leaned heavily against the stone archway for support. Her white dress was stained with her own blood and the ash of the ruined cathedral. The magical burns on her wrists were deep and raw.
Sarah pushed herself off the archway. She took a trembling step toward him. Her legs shaked.
Lucifer moved instantly. He crossed the balcony and caught her before she hit the stone floor. He held her up, gripping her shoulders with his heavy, bloodstained gauntlets.
"You are drained, Oracle," Lucifer said softly. "Do not push yourself. The battle is over."
Sarah looked up at him. She reached out and grabbed his forearms. Her grip was surprisingly strong.
"It is not over," Sarah whispered. Her voice trembled, but not from fear. It trembled with absolute conviction. "I saw the visions. While I was chained to that altar... the dark magic forced my eyes open. I saw what is coming. The sky tearing open. The Abyss swallowing the world."
Lucifer's expression hardened. He knew exactly what she had seen. He had lived it.
She took a deep, shuddering breath. She released his forearm and reached for his right hand.
Lucifer allowed her to move his hand. Sarah unclasped the heavy iron plating of his Warlord gauntlet. She pulled the armor off, letting it drop to the stone floor with a loud clang. She held his bare hand in both of hers.
"The Cult of Decay took everything from me," Sarah said, her voice echoing softly in the quiet cavern. "They broke my temple.
They slaughtered my protectors. They chained me in the dark to die. And the gods did nothing."
She looked down at his bare hand. The faint outline of Astrid's constellation glowed beneath his skin.
"You did not pray for me," Sarah said. She looked back up, her cosmic eyes piercing straight through his Warlord aura, straight into his regressor soul. "You bled for me. You shattered the mountain for me."
Sarah slowly sank to her knees.
Lucifer did not stop her. He understood the weight of the moment.
Sarah pulled his hand to her face. She pressed her lips against the back of his hand, right over the glowing constellation.
A shockwave of pure, silver magic erupted from the point of contact.
It did not blast outward like an attack. It flowed inward. The magic wrapped around Lucifer's arm like a ribbon of light, spiraling up his shoulder and sinking directly into his chest.
[System: Soul Bond Initialized]
[Target: Sarah, the Star-Touched Oracle]
[Alignment: Cosmic / Void]
[Status: Absolute Devotion]
Lucifer felt a sudden, profound connection click into place in his mind. It was exactly like the bond he shared with Elara, but the texture of the magic was different.
Sarah pulled her lips away from his hand. The silver ribbon of light faded into his skin.
She looked up at him from her knees. The fear that had clouded her eyes in the cathedral was completely gone.
"My life is yours, Lucifer of Obsidian," Sarah vowed. Her musical voice rang with absolute finality. "My visions are your maps. My magic is your shield. I bind my soul to your war. In this life, and whatever comes after."
Lucifer looked down at her. He felt the immense weight of her pledge. In his past life, he fought alone. He died alone. He had allies, but they broke when the Abyss came.
He reached down with his bare hand. He cupped Sarah's cheek. He wiped away the silver tear with his thumb.
"I accept your bond, Sarah," Lucifer said. His voice was a low, steady rumble. "Stand up."
He grabbed her waist and effortlessly lifted her back to her feet. He kept his arm around her, supporting her weight so she wouldn't collapse again.
Sarah leaned into his chest, resting her head against his dark armor. She closed her eyes, finally allowing herself to rest in the safety of his presence.
A few feet away, Elara watched the entire exchange.
The Fallen Valkyrie leaned on her silver spear. She did not step forward to interrupt.
Lucifer looked at Elara, expecting to see a flash of tension. Valkyries were fiercely territorial protectors by nature.
Elara met his gaze. She looked at Sarah, resting weakly against his armor. Elara's expression did not harden. Instead, the corners of her lips curled upward into a rare, genuine smile.
Elara gave a single, firm nod of approval.
She walked forward. She reached out and placed her hand gently on Sarah's shoulder.
Sarah opened her eyes and looked at the Valkyrie.
"You have a strong soul, Oracle," Elara said quietly. "You stared down a Legendary Lich and did not break. You possess the fire required to walk with us."
Sarah smiled weakly. "Thank you, Elara. I will learn to fight. I will not be a burden."
"You are no burden," Elara assured her. She stepped to Lucifer's other side, taking up a protective stance on his right flank. "You are our sister in arms now."
Lucifer looked at the two women standing beside him.
He turned his gaze back to the ruined cathedral.
The Cult was dead. The Elves were freed. He had reached the mortal level cap.
"The tactical phase of this region is complete," Lucifer announced. He tightened his grip on Sarah, keeping her steady. "We head down into the Lich's vault. We take whatever he was hiding in the dark. Then, we march back to the surface."
Elara readied her spear. The golden light flared.
Lucifer stepped off the balcony, leading his companions back into the shadows. They moved as a single, unified force, ready to tear apart anything that stood in their way.
