--------------------------------------------------
The battle between Kaguya and her two sons raged for what felt like an eternity.
In the end—
Hagoromo and Hamura combined their strength and unleashed the Six Paths—Chibaku Tensei!
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was sealed.
In her final moments of despair, Kaguya turned her gaze toward Manji.
He met her eyes with cold indifference. "Reflect on what you've done."
At the very last instant—with the last spark of hope left in her body—Kaguya expelled Black Zetsu.
Black Zetsu landed on the ground, staring up at its mother with grief-stricken eyes.
But the moment its gaze drifted elsewhere—it locked directly with Manji's.
In that split second, a single thought screamed through Black Zetsu's mind:
'I'm finished.'
.....
Atop a barren mountain peak.
Three people and one toad.
Manji. Hagoromo. Hamura. Gamamaru.
"Master—these are sacred tools I forged from the Divine Tree. Please accept them. And for what my mother did to you all those years ago… allow me to apologize on her behalf."
After the battle, Hagoromo presented several artifacts to Manji.
The Banana Palm Fan. The Amber Purifying Pot. The Seven Star Sword. The Binding Rope of Gold. The Crimson Gourd. The Crimson Fan.
Six treasures—the very same artifacts that would one day become known as the Treasured Tools of the Sage of Six Paths. (The 6th is not part of the original canon!)
"The fact that you and your brother were willing to sacrifice personal bonds for the greater good of the world… that's something to be proud of."
Manji nodded with quiet approval, then turned his attention to the six legendary tools.
'Free artifacts? I'd be a fool to refuse.'
"Master—this is a weapon I crafted specifically for you, as thanks for everything you've done. I hope you'll accept it."
Hagoromo presented a pitch-black sword with both hands and a respectful bow.
"Oh?"
Manji's eyebrow rose. One glance told him this was no ordinary blade.
"I created two weapons. One is the Spear of Heaven. The other is this sword. I noticed you lack Yin-Yang Release, Master—but with this blade, you'll be able to wield it directly."
Hagoromo smiled as he explained.
"An exceptional weapon."
Manji gripped the hilt—and the connection was instantaneous. Mind and blade, perfectly synchronized.
He understood its nature immediately: as long as the wielder's conviction was absolute, this sword could cut through anything. Indestructible will made an indestructible edge.
The same principle behind the Spear of Heaven—and the reason why, in a later era, an Obito Uchiha with unwavering resolve was considered terrifyingly powerful.
Just as Manji attempted to manifest Truth-Seeking Orbs through the blade —
Nothing happened.
No matter how hard he tried—the ability wouldn't activate.
Manji's brow furrowed.
"Hm? That's strange…"
Hagoromo was equally puzzled. He clearly remembered: the sword should grant direct access to Yin-Yang Release and Truth-Seeking Orbs.
After a few more attempts, Manji smiled faintly. He already knew the reason.
'The System's ceiling. Even with a shortcut—it won't let me break through.'
"Never mind. Does this sword have a name?"
Manji asked warmly.
Hagoromo shook his head. "Not yet—I was hoping you'd christen it, Master."
Manji studied the jet-black blade—sleek, elegant, radiating quiet menace—and spoke.
"Then let's call it… the Six Paths Sword."
"A perfect name!"
Hagoromo's face brightened with admiration.
Hamura nodded his agreement.
Manji allowed himself a small smile.
The name wasn't random. Six Paths Sword—because his ambition was to one day breach the Six Paths threshold. The sword would serve as a constant reminder.
"Master—there's one more thing. A favor I'd like to ask."
Hagoromo produced nine luminous magatama beads.
The nine Tailed Beasts.
"I divided that creature's chakra into nine separate entities. I'd like to ask you to find them a safe haven—a place where they can learn to understand humans, trust them, and eventually help them."
Hagoromo spoke with earnest conviction.
Hamura peered at the sleeping beasts curled inside the glowing beads, eyes wide with fascination. "They're actually kind of adorable when they're like this."
Manji gazed at the nine Tailed Beasts, and something stirred in his chest. Another milestone in the story he'd once only watched from the outside—the Nine Tailed Beasts, the creatures that defined the Naruto world.
"Done. I'll take care of them."
He tucked the magatama into his robes. With Kaguya sealed, his schedule was essentially open—training, refining Sage Arts, and finding homes for these little ones. Not a bad retirement plan.
"So, Hagoromo—what's next for you?"
Manji turned to his disciple.
Hagoromo surveyed the devastated landscape around them—a world scarred and cratered by their battle—and compassion welled up inside him.
"I want to bring redemption. I want to spread my philosophy—a belief that people can truly understand one another."
Manji nodded. Just like the original story.
He turned to the younger brother. "And you, Hamura?"
Hamura smiled softly, lifting his gaze toward the moon hanging in the sky. "I want to be with Mother."
Gamamaru immediately couldn't contain himself. "You want to get sealed on the moon too??"
Hamura and Hagoromo: "..."
Manji: "..."
"I understand Mother. When all is said and done… I still love her. Deep down, she was always just a woman who'd been hurt too many times."
Hamura's voice was gentle and resolute.
Manji sighed inwardly.
With Kaguya sealed, his own grudge had begun to dissipate—fading like smoke in the wind.
Another leap forward in inner peace.
"You're a good man." Manji gave Hamura a respectful nod.
And with that—the three said their farewells.
"Master—come visit! I still want to see which one of us lives longer!"
Hagoromo called out with a grin.
Manji chuckled to himself.
'Outlive me? Kid—I literally can't die even if I wanted to.'
Hagoromo and Hamura weren't pure-blooded Ōtsutsuki, but their features and horn development put them remarkably close. Hagoromo could likely live close to a thousand years.
But compared to Manji's infinity? No contest.
[Note: Hagoromo's exact lifespan is debated in canon—the original series never specifies. For this story, we're using the community consensus: approximately a millennium for non-pure Ōtsutsuki, reduced slightly due to diluted bloodline. The Boruto series confirms that Ōtsutsuki can live for thousands of years. Pure-blooded members who've consumed the Chakra Fruit—like Kaguya—are essentially immortal and can only be sealed. Karma resurrection allows theoretically infinite life extension, though without a timely vessel transfer, lifespan drops drastically.]
"..."
Manji waved casually. The next time they'd meet might be a century from now. Maybe two.
"See you around, kid." Gamamaru added his own farewell.
Then Manji and Gamamaru faded from sight—along with the Treasured Tools.
Hagoromo looked out at the battered world around him—and resolved to save it.
.....
Back on Mount Myōboku.
Manji examined the treasures in his hands, turning them over thoughtfully.
Most of these tools were, frankly, useless to him.
Against opponents stronger than himself, these wouldn't turn the tide. Against weaker ones, he didn't need them in the first place.
"The only one with real potential… is this."
Manji studied the pitch-black Six Paths Sword, a quiet smile forming on his lips.
If he spent enough time researching it—perhaps, someday, he could use it as a foundation to create his own Truth-Seeking Orbs.
"Master, Master—what are you gonna do with these little guys?"
Gamamaru peered at the nine tiny Tailed Beasts slumbering inside their magatama.
Manji considered it briefly.
They were still too young—nowhere near ready for release. In canon, Hagoromo hadn't set them free until they'd grown to at least a dozen meters tall.
"They'll stay on Mount Myōboku for a few years. Once they've grown enough, we'll send them out into the world."
Manji sheathed the Six Paths Sword.
"Yes, sir!" Gamamaru nodded without hesitation.
No objections from him—Mount Myōboku's true authority was Manji. Whatever Manji said was the law.
"Well… the world's gone back to being peaceful and boring."
Manji rubbed his temples. The next event interesting enough to warrant his attention would be Hagoromo founding Ninshū—and after that, the birth of Indra and Asura.
But that was still a long way off.
Based on the anime, Hagoromo didn't have his two sons until middle age.
And right now—Hagoromo was barely into his prime.
